Lovely jackets, Chris. The fact that all three are plain, allows the individual textures of each one to be fully appreciated. They certainly add an extra dimension to a well dressed man's wardrobe.👍

Hi John, I thought I'd do a video on Woollen jackets, as I thing they are underrated and not something often considered, but they are thicker than a lot of jacket, including some tweed jackets and add that thicker layer for warmth. They also add texture to an ensemble. there are something I think people should consider for their wardrobe as a well dressed man. Thanks for your continued support dear friend👍🙂

Hi Chris. Love that grey jacket. You cannot beat pure wool in winter. I own a dense wool overcoat that is so warm and substantial that I only wear it in extremely cold weather (ice, snow or northerly wind), otherwise it would be too heavy and warm to wear. I call it my funeral coat as it's ideal for wearing on a cold, windy winters day in graveyards and the like.

Hi Billy, the grey jacket is a little bit thinner that a heavy woollen overcoat, but you really can't beat wool for the winter periods. The grey jacket is a great way of bridging between wearing a coat and a suit or thinner jacket. I get what you mean about the funeral coat, I have a black woollen overcoat, I wear in the winter for funerals and remembrance days etc, it keeps me warm and toasty whilst standing around in the cold. lovely to hear from you again and thank you for your continued support👍🙂

Great video Chris. I have not given much thought to these kind of woolen jackets so far. I might will check it out during the year and incorporate it into my wardrobe. I like to wear my corduroy jacket in fall and early spring. I know it is seen more as a winter fabric. I prefer to wear it much more in the transitional time between the seasons Fall-Winter, Winter-Spring.

Hi Kay, glad you enjoyed the video and good to hear from you again. Woollen jackets are a great addition, the are actually made of wool serge, similar to the material used in military dress uniforms, tunics and equestrian hunting jackets. Corduroy jackets are also a great transitional garment and you can get a cotton version or these types of jackets, a little like a un-ribbed corduroy. I love wearing my corduroy trousers at this time of year. Thanks for your continued support 🙂

Good stuff Chris! I'm a bit obsessive about wool, I'll only buy stuff with high wool content these days...my good lady wife thinks I'm somewhat deranged!

Hi Yoric, great to hear from you again and I try to get 100% wool myself, if I can. I did make an error in judgement recently and brought a couple of Jumpers from a well known department store with a 60% wool and 40 polyester mix, thinking they would each last a couple of years, but within about 3 months regular wear they had both bobbled up and were only good as garden jumpers within only a few months🙁 A timely reminder, it is worth investing in a good 100% wool jumpers (sweaters). Similarly it sound like you have made the right choice to target high wool content items, suits, jackets and trousers are always going to last well, if looked after, keep those pesky moths away 😆😆😆. Glad you enjoyed the video🙂👍

Hi Chris, Wonderful jackets indeed. Especially the second one. What is the weight of the cloth and the weave type? What mill produces it? Cheers

Hi Douglas, lovely to hear from you again. The Navy James Aubrey jacket I wore in the video is made of 100% wool serge. Serge is a type of twill weave characterised by diagonal parallel ribs or lines. Wool serge is typically medium to heavy-weight, providing warmth and durability. Wool serge is also commonly used in military unforms and for example in red equestrian hunting jackets. The fabric weight of this type of material can vary, but it's often in the range of 16 to 24 ounces per square yard (approximately 540 to 810 grams per square metre) or heavier, depending on the specific requirements. In this particular jacket, I'm unsure as it was brought of the peg, but I think it is around the 17.70 ounces per square yard (approximately 600 grams per square metre). Sorry a can’t be more specific, but there are no lapels inside it and no reference to the mill either. I would note that you can also find jackets also made with 100% cotton, similar to a plain corduroy material, but that’s another sorry. Hope this helps 👍and thank you for your continued support🙂
