In the 70s The sound of Philadelphia took over the music landscape...Just to add one more comment.... maybe David Ruffin was right all along about Motown not paying them money for all the record sales and shows the group did...

Thanks for the Mr. Berry Gordy Jr., story. So, he is related to former president Mr. Jimmy Carter? Not surprised knowing the history of The United States of America. They need a movie on him. I do recall him being on "Finding Our Roots." Need to revisit the episode. Just thinking, there might not have been a Motown Records if he had kept boxing.🤔 So much great talent came out of Motown Records.

i didn't know that he and the Carters were related until recently. My mind was definitely blown. He didn't treat the majority of his recording artists well. Then his involvement with Miss Ross. I'll tune in to see if I can learn something new.

Oddly, my mother’s father Rev. Richard Blackstone Sr. worked with President Carter in the 1970s. My mother’s nephew is Adam Blackstone (his father is my mother’s half brother) on her father’s side who is multitalented in his own right.

Motown Productions also brought us the following: co produced with George Schaltter/Ed Friendly= TCB special and the G.I.T on Broadway special. co produced with Rankin Bass= The Jackson 5 cartoon. Also the 1971 Diana! special and many more. Later Motown Productions changed to (Suzanne) dePasse Productions, which produced the classic "Sister Sister" with the Mowry Sisters.
