The Hershel flashbacks was to show the birth of Farmer Rick (as fans called him) The rest of the episode was showing the death of Farmer Rick and the rebirth of the Warrior.

Not a warrior though, warroir rick was season 1/2 rick. He had justice and honor. Than truamatized rick, than farmer rick who just wanted peace and now this rick is feral rick, hes livin in a dog eat dog world. He threw away that justice & honor. Like to add season 1/2 Rick would have hated season 5+ rick.

@@wisewillowgames season 1/2 Rick would have loved season 9 Rick. Living in peace is why he was so dead set on following Hershel’s rules on the farm. Because he wanted a safe place to live. To raise Carl and the yet to be born Judith. Season 5/6 Rick is still feral Rick, season 7 Rick is back to traumatized Rick and season 8 Rick is back to warrior in the first half and back to feral in the second half. But even during his warrior, traumatized and feral stages he never stopped wanting to settle down and feel safe with his people. It just wasn’t a possibility given the environment. Season 9 Rick is what he’s always wanted to be.

Fun Fact: When Rick was cleaning the blood from his face the rag got stuck on the blood around his mouth and pulled out clumps of his beard. Andrew Lincoln is such a good actor that he carried on through the pain to finish the scene without reshoots.

Rick brought out his savage with that Claimer group when he bit Joe’s throat you don’t mess with his boy I love the scene where he and Daryl are talking about all that happened afterwards and Rick told him you’re my brother.

The thing I love about this episode and overall season is it gives you a true sense that the group especially Rick can deal with anything. I remember seeing this for the first time and when Rick says “they’re fucking with the wrong people” you believe him

Rick’s arc this season has been amazing It’s all been about him trying to suppress the brutality within himself in order to steer Carl down the right path That’s why he stepped down as leader and threw all his energy into farming He even stopped carrying his gun on him And then everything he’s built starts to unravel The prison falls and Rick sees that Carl never will be the kid he wants him to be And then the ultimate realization that Rick has failed to protect his son from the brutality of the world he’s forced to rip a mans throat out with his teeth to stop Carl being raped Incredible writing.

Can't wait for your next reaction. I feel that Dale and Hershel were so important for the main group because they were moral compasses for everyone. They still have an impact in the lives of each person so they don't become totally barbaric. You can't be soft in this world but you can't become cold hearted either. Most of all you need to know who to be in each given situation.

The thing is people see compassion and emapthy as being weak or soft which is not true. Its being the strongest bc its easy to kill and be cruel its easy to take but its not easy to choose not to do the most easist thing and to stick with your morals.

When Rick suddenly knocked that plate out the woman’s hand he saw the orange backpack Glenn’s riot gear being worn and Daryl’s poncho and the watch he knew something was up.

Rewatching TWD with you makes me see thinks in a different perspective. I miss Hershel ❤️ He had such an impact on Rick without judging him or trying to lecture him. They both learned from each other. It was such a beautiful relationship.

this was a good season finale, rick was insane what he did to the leader of the claim. I love daryl this episode, he was trying to be understanding from both sides of the conflict. Daryl even surrendered his own life to resolve the issue. I didn't expect terminus to be hostile, I was optimistic about them. Rick is neither good or bad, he fits in the category of a survivor. what I mean by that Is he will do almost near anything to protect himself and only his people. so far he has ignored other people outside of his group, rick is not willing rescue other people that is in danger or needed help. The only reason rick took the people from Woodbury in was because of honoring andrea, if it wasn't for andrea I fully believed rick absolutely has no intention of bringing them back to the prison. Rick and Shane is in the same category as survivor. Shane is not a bad guy, he would never do what those type of men do like the claim. But just like rick, Shane is willing to do anything to protect himself and to protect carl and lori. that's why he attempted to kill rick, his best friend because Shane thinks Rick's leadership is putting carl and lori in danger. Shane didn't hate rick, rick didn't hate Shane. Shane didn't attempted to kill rick out of hate, and rick didn't kill Shane out of hate. rick killed Shane to survive despite how much I disagree how rick handled that situation. but there are quite of few in Rick's group they are not survivors like Glenn, Eugene,Tara, Andrea,Beth, and possibly Maggie. Again what I mean by survivor in this sense is when you are able to cross that line in order to protect yourself or to protect others, the people I just named didn't cross that line to survive like rick and Shane. I give this episode a 10/10 I absolutely loved it and can't wait for the season premiere

Comic Comparisons : First the scene with Joe and the Claimers runs a bit different in the comics Daryl isn’t there because he doesn’t exist in the comics Rick Abraham (instead of Michonne) and Carl are ambushed by three random bandits It’s heavily implied that they’re gonna rape Carl to the point they take off most of Carl’s clothes save for his undergarments The rest of the scene goes as in the show Rick rips one of their throats out with his teeth Abraham kills the other and Rick brutality kills the one who was going to rape Carl Undoubtedly the most skin crawling scene in all of TWD. Second : Terminus doesn’t exist in the comics but the concept of the people do Rick’s line in the comics is They’re fucking with the wrong people but because it’s on TV they had to censor it you can hear Rick say that line on the Blu Ray DVD which features the uncensored version of the Season 4 finale.
