My favorite episode of the series, Rick really becomes everything that Shane was, only difference is Rick did it off of circumstance and Shane did it off of expectation. Season 5 is just PHENOMENAL

Carl didn't have rage in his eyes. He was soaking in all the trauma, almost getting raped then seeing how brutal his dad got to save him.

it's so sad seeing carl looking traumatized after what happened but it's also so sweet seeing how protective and comforting michonne is for him. he spent that entire night resting his head in her lap. 😢

Rick’s arc this season has been amazing It’s all been about him trying to suppress the brutality within himself in order to steer Carl down the right path That’s why he stepped down as leader and threw all his energy into farming He even stopped carrying his gun on him And then everything he’s built starts to unravel The prison falls and Rick sees that Carl never will be the kid he wants him to be And then the ultimate realization that Rick has failed to protect his son from the brutality of the world he’s forced to rip a mans throat out with his teeth to stop Carl being raped Incredible writing.

The Hershel flashbacks was to show the birth of Farmer Rick (as fans called him) The rest of the episode was showing the death of Farmer Rick and the rebirth of the Warrior.

When Rick suddenly knocked that plate out the woman’s hand he saw the orange backpack Glenn’s riot gear being worn and Daryl’s poncho and the watch he knew something was up.

Fun Fact: When Rick was cleaning the blood from his face the rag got stuck on the blood around his mouth and pulled out clumps of his beard. Andrew Lincoln is such a good actor that he carried on through the pain to finish the scene without reshoots.

Rick brought out his savage with that Claimer group when he bit Joe’s throat you don’t mess with his boy I love the scene where he and Daryl are talking about all that happened afterwards and Rick told him you’re my brother.

I love how Carl Daryl & Michonne had no clue what was going on, but they still draw their weapons

We shake when our brains are working through traumatic stress in WW1 when soldiers had shell shock from constant bombs dropping the ones who shook properly processed more than the ones who suppressed their feelings. Rick shaking covered in blood is a great opener really great acting

Comic Comparisons : First the scene with Joe and the Claimers runs a bit different in the comics Daryl isn’t there because he doesn’t exist in the comics Rick Abraham (instead of Michonne) and Carl are ambushed by three random bandits It’s heavily implied that they’re gonna rape Carl to the point they take off most of Carl’s clothes save for his undergarments The rest of the scene goes as in the show Rick rips one of their throats out with his teeth Abraham kills the other and Rick brutality kills the one who was going to rape Carl Undoubtedly the most skin crawling scene in all of TWD. Second : Terminus doesn’t exist in the comics but the concept of the people do Rick’s line in the comics is They’re fucking with the wrong people but because it’s on TV they had to censor it you can hear Rick say that line on the Blu Ray DVD which features the uncensored version of the Season 4 finale.

I think Carl was shook not only by almost getting r*ped and murdered, but also by Rick's intense act of violence. I'm sure anyone witnessing such a SAVAGE act of violence, no less by your parent - your guider, protector, and example/reflection of manhood - who you just recently believed you no longer needed, would go in terms of violence, brought up a mixture of yes, anger at "those sick f*cks and satisfaction/relief at. seeing them put down," but also fear of the previously unseen if not unknown SAVAGERY his father is capable of and maybe some insecurity around whether or not he's capable of the same and what that says about both Rick and himself. I think that's what he meant when he was later when talking to Michonne and says "I'm not who he thinks I am."

If you watch the uncensored version of this episode at the end rick says "fucking" instead of "screwing".

They're fucking with the wrong people is the best version of that end scene! Season 5 is fire and the peak in the show! It dominated television and broke ratings records. Nothin compared and I'm glad I was there live to witness it all. Yes we had to wait months in between seasons and it was torture for sure! Savage Rick is the best Rick! He ate that dudes neck and scared everyone around him, even Daryl laid over the hood of the truck and watched in disbelief. He saw Rick will do anything for his family and that's someone you want to ride with for life

The first time I've seen you guys trawling your collective memory for detail and coming up with nuttin' - "I think that was Beth's watch and Bob's clown suit!" 🤣Redeemed yourselves spotting all the details in Terminus corale, though! 100% with Chance on the evolution of Carl's stare - and respect to Chandler Riggs' acting, again!, for being able to convey that so convincingly with zero dialogue. Great stuff! Considering Jason's query as to why they didn't show Michonne/Andre catastrophe - I do get it. It's often best to show - not tell. But the groundwork had already been laid with the previous dream sequence for us to see it all. The scene was set so Danai Gurira could use her acting chops to paint a picture we could all see - and IMHO she pulled it off with aplomb. Superb performance and, again, great minimalist but credible reactions from Carl. The way Chandler stays absolutely still and does it all through his face and his eyes. Amazing from such a young actor! Have I ever said I really love this show?

This one and 5.1 are the episodes that previews pulled me to binge the show. I watch the first 3 or so episodes when it came out, but it didn't pull me in. I don't care about zombies, but I really love how an apocalypse brings out the best and worst in people.

This episode one of the best ones, season 4 is honestly amazing aside from the sickness crap at the beginning that I thought was kinda lame but set things up properly i suppose.

Thez productions asked Rick chicken or beef. He went with chicken and knowing what. Now he does. Ready for more guys

And thus, Savage Rick was born, probably still the strongest Rick there's ever been. I think throat bite is still the most badass scene of him, though satisfyingly two other scenes from season 5 are also solid. As much as Claimers deserved it, I kinda liked Joe, he's a scumbag, but at least he's more sane and reasonable than The Governor. It would been interesting to see him interact with Daryl, but...eh, I guess they would've died in season 5 either way. Man, these sanctuaries always aren't a heaven, are they?
