About a year ago, I got permission from US Border Patrol to travel the length of the US-Mexico border from San Diego to the New Mexico border in my car, flying my drone and filming. I secretly think they might have been using me to test new technology to identify drones! Anyway, I filmed and flew and got to know many fine Border Patrol agents. This simplistic demand for a WALL by our current President shows a fundamental ignorance. There already is a wall, for hundreds of miles. There are also open spots and vulnerable spots which could use some patching up. It's time to stop making partisan generalizations and just seeing how things could get done if we all can just get along. Right, Rodney?

At present - The U.S./Mexican border is a "revolving door" - with these 'ants' moving to every part of U.S. daily. People have to wake up & protect what they hold "dear".

At one time the land on both sides of the wall was Mexico. I have lived in Imperial Beach my entire life and can see the Border fence go out about 100 yards into the ocean. I thought if I want to get to the other side I would just swim out far enough and go around it. A wall becomes pointless unless you build it miles offshore into Ocean. My neighbor is a border patrol agent and he thinks the wall is a big waste of money. If a concrete wall is built there it would make it harder for being able to see through to the other side. He said that some of the spots where the border fence looks sparse are deliberate as a trap to make it easier for them to do their job. They simply have a hidden trench which they wait till dark and easily catch those who think they found an easier way through. Otherwise, they would have to work harder to detect them if the was a solid object like a concrete wall. These deliberate soft spots help them by funneling them into certain traps and saves them countless hours searching vast amounts of area of the with lees results. And since the current fence is see-through it allows their high tech Heat and motion sensing devices to operate without a large concrete structure in the way of the sensor. He wishes that money would go for more Tech devices like that and Aerial Drones with the same tech onboard the Drone. I have lived 3 miles from the Mexican border and have never encountered or experienced a problem with any illegal aliens. In fact, many US citizens have moved to Tijuana and Rosarito Beach due to affordable housing and travel across the US border for work. In fact, Border Parol Neighbor believes that before Trump and his Wall propaganda there were fewer people trying to cross into the US and he believes that the increase has been a direct result of Trump administration cutting off the money to those Central American countries making them desperate to flee. Because even Mexicans are staying in Mexico because the cost of living is nearly a quarter that it is on this side of the border and the jobs may less but it works out better for them due to a better cost of living. Sorry to break the news to the rest of the country there is not a problem with Mexican people here at the border. And Trump can build the most sophisticated wall and it will not make a difference. Anyone can simply go out into the ocean a few hundred feet and swim around the fence or take a boat out further and do the same. Also, the wall cannot stop the countless tunnels that are all along the border with many so sophisticated the remain undetected the Cartel invested their funds in other areas in addition to the tunnels. Bribes are the Cartel's investment. Until Trump can out bribe the Cartel. Then those Port of Entry Officers the port of entry officers will be compromised. They stand to make multiple times their yearly salary not to mention the threat and the pressure of bodily harm to their family members if they do not comply.

What are you talking about. The Coast Guard always has en eye on that area. And even El Chapo himself said tunnels are a waste. They take excavation equipment and a lot of time and money to complete, and they can be sealed in 10 minutes with $20 worth of TNT. Not to mention new radar tech that can detect tunnels.

Any problems that will ever occur won't be where there is a wall, this idea that a wall is going to protect or stop anything is crazy, it is a waste of our tax dollars. Bad is bad and good is good, it's that simple, if a person is going to break the law they are going to, your not going to stop them with a Wall period. Get Real!!!

Without the Wall anyone can just walk across the border unlawfully whenever they want and turn themselves over to the Border Control and released into the interior waiting for their court date which they will not show up for.

The solution is to put a Wall across the whole border if that is the case. We are getting a minimum of 500 miles of border Wall whether the socialists and cheap labor corporations like it or not. According to the chief of Border Security the Wall is already working so it isn't really debatable. The experts say the Wall is working. In the last few months illegal border crossings have reduced by over 50%. It will continue to go down as more border Wall goes up. People who are not in top physical shape cannot go around the Wall do to rugged terrain and desert will stop coming. Some will get in but arrests and processing will be made a lot easier. The military and National Guard can go home and less Border Security and immigration judges will be needed.

Reminds me of the barrier fence in Korea built in 1967. It made me feel a hell of a lot safer then because I was on it before, during and after. I survived numerous north Korean assault teams that attacked us. Others not so lucky. US army Korea 1967-68.

Wall needs to be electrified, if not, then barbed wire on top and impalement sticks at the bottom for those who make it to the top and then jump. The wall and border Patrol alone is not enough to stop these ppl who will never stop, till we take extreme measures to stop them.

The Wall "of Equity" will help enforce legal immigration. Everyone invited is welcome. All others need a good reason to be here and should adhere to the process. The Economic theory of supply and demand should start working and the wages of the existing labor market should improve. Better life for those here and hopefully it will trickle down to ALL In addition, facial recognition and fines who employ illegals should help stop the bum rush (trafficking) of the border. All others get a green card.

Of course this was a year old back in February so now it is 16 months and a lot can happen in 16 month... in just 10 days one of the most trafficked gaps was filled with the most high quality and sophisticated wall yet. Must more is in progress and is to come, but the border "wall" also consists of various natural barriers like canyons and canals and waterless deserts. The bottomline with the wall is to make it more and more difficult to just walk over the border and ti is successful at this. The one little gap most recently filled had 19 trails including Sinoloa #1 and would see traffic from 100-400 illegals daily and an estimated $100K-200K in drugs daily. Nothing has crossed that gap in 24 days. Yes it has probably moved somewhere else, but each gap filled makes it easier for the CBP to deal with their job and safer for them too.

The border patrol specifically asked for holes that they could see and shoot through. They were involved in the design and they said this was better than a flat solid wall because it would help them do their jobs by being better able to see trouble happening at any nearby part of the wall and respond instead of waiting until someone jumps down our side.

Gaps big enough to see and shoot through, yes. That way you can see them coming and do your job from your side while they're on the way up, instead of waiting for someone to hit the ground running after they drop by surprise from the top of the wall way over there.

Why is this part of the new bollard wall only 18'????? Why is the chain link fencing still in place??? It just gives people a place to grab onto and climb. We were told originally that the wall would be 30". Stop giving these people a plact to get over. THIRTY FEET !!!

Every reasonably well-off person in Mexico has a villa with a high brick wall built around it. The top of the wall is covered in broken glass! Trump never proposed such a requirement for his wall ........... so what's the problem ?

Some spots are deliberately "softer" where the Border Patrol sets up camp. People see the wall, and say, "Okay, we can try to climb the 30 foot bars and razor wire, or try to hop this eight foot chain link fence..." Then they hop the fence and land in the ICE van on the other side.

To be fair, he could do a lot better than a fence. A fence is very wasteful of materials. Instead of making miles and miles of wall all along the border, you could make sniper towers every mile, house the National Guard in them with sniper rifles, give them drones to patrol with, and just paint a big red line on the ground. Put a toe across the line and lose it. Problem solved.

1:36. The way this steel FENCE (not wall which implies a thickness dimension) has to navigate up, over, and down hilly terrain reminds me of the complexities of the Great Wall of China I not only visited but walked upon in Beijing in 2008. Sure - on flat terrain this doesn't pose much of a construction challenge, but heavy equipment works really proves inefficient on steep grades. After all this hoopla, Trump's so-called wall wasn't any different than what other presidents erected before him ... only hundreds of times longer.

The Trump administration say they've completed more than 400 miles of border wall since then. However, only 5 miles of the newer Ballard Fencing barriers have been built where there were none before - that includes 47 miles of primary wall, and 33 miles of secondary wall built to reinforce the initial barrier. 255 of Replacement Barrier and 5 miles New Fencing in Total from 2017-2020 The vast majority of the 452 mile Border Wall is replacing existing structures at the border that is deteriorating. President Trump has argued that this should be regarded as new wall, because it's replacing what he called "old and worthless barriers.", but it is Not. Some 35 Miles of wall has either fallen over or is in need of repair or replacement due to poor installation by Fisher.

Steel and concrete huh? American steel and concrete. Here is a tip Mexicans. Get some kerosene in a drum and old computers and printers and nylon carpet and office furniture, stack it up in a truck, and hurl the whole thing against the wall, fast...........and set fire to it. Siesta for 55 minutes, and it will free fall in a bloody great molten, twisted, dusty heap. Worked before..Apparently.
