Located in the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest and within the Eagle Cap Wilderness, the Wallowa Mountains are one of the most beautiful hiking areas in Oregon. There are endless trails to alpine lakes and mountain tops in the Wallowas. We spent 2 days hiking and backpacking in the Wallowas to Mirror Lake, Eagle Cap, Mocassin Lake, and Glacier Lake.

Just wanted to say thanks for keeping it real. I find it so difficult to find travel bloggers who aren’t putting on phony, corny, loud, silly personas bc they think it will gain them views. Maybe it does, I don’t know, but it’s definitely not my thing. Going to the Wallowas to backpack this September, can’t wait! Thanks for the video.

Awe, thanks! Glad you like our style. We always feel like we aren’t as interesting or out there with personalities that draw people in. 😆 We just like a good hike and take people along. Appreciate you saying that. Made our day! You’ll love it in the Wallowas Sept! Would be cool to go in the fall sometime.

The Wallowas are indeed a beautiful place to hike. I have been to the top of Eagle Cap many times We always went farther north going by Horseshoe Lake. There is a meadow kind of just below the lake. We spent a week there over Christmas 1977. Lowest temperature we noted on the thermometer at night was -12 degrees Fahrenheit with about 3 feet of snow in the meadow and 4-5 feet up at the lake. We had beautiful clear weather most of the trip. Went and checked the map the meadow was six mile meadow

One of our fav area in oregon too! Especially when you go on the weekdays in the summer. Very much underrated. It is quite a bit of a drive, and I think that keeps the crowds away.

Great video. You make difficult hikes look easy and I like the gear and educational explanations. Your personalities come through too, so it’s like hanging out with our friends Tim and Helen from half a continent away.

Thank you, Vern! The hikes are definitely hard and take it out of us. Glad you like the educational explanations. We are trying to do more of that along the way. We enjoy hanging out with you Vern and hope our paths cross sometime. The PNW is calling your name

Definitely a good recommendation! Not sure if those would be allowed in the alpine due to open fires, definitely something for us to consider for car camping. We have used a thermacell mosquito repellent device before. Not the most effective, but slight 😆 Thanks for watching, James!

Hello Linnea! Awe, thank you! We love to bring Bobo bars, pro bars, trail mixed (with chocolate of course), dried mangos or coconut strips, haribo gummies, kale chips, jerky, summer sausage and cheese. We also like pro bar gummies, shot blocks, energy gu, or jelly belly energy beans for longer hikes or endurance activities. The list goes one and on 😆 Do you have some favs to share?!

Wow. Arguably the most beautiful location you guys have been to yet! It is too bad the mosquitoes got in the way too much to allow you to enjoy it to the fullest! Also, 17:05 Tim is a bit of a hunk in that shot eh?

We agree ☺️ It is one of the most beautiful places in Oregon and way more off the beaten path then most places. Those mosquitos really like Helen 😅 But they can’t keep us away! Thanks for watching!

It really is like a mini Switzerland! Swiss alps are one of our favorite areas but we will take this form now since it’s 6 hours from home. Have you been to Switzerland? One of our fav parts is the Mürren area!

@@HelenandTimTravel It's a good alternative to Switzerland! We've never been to either but Oregon might be more attainable for us than Switzerland. 😆

We we during the last weekend of July. We have also made the trip around 4th of July but some of the upper passes are not melted out. It’s a stunning area and definitely less crowded than the rest of the PNW ☺️🥾Let us know if you have any other questions.

I am planning a trip this summer. Hoping to go late August to avoid mosquitoes. What time of year were you there?
@HelenandTimTravel
@HelenandTimTravel 5 ай бұрын
We went early August and there were definitely a lot of mosquitos since it was a late snow melt year. Seems like around the lakes itself is a breeding ground for them, so recommend camping higher up from the lake if you can 😃 Recommend bringing a bug net in case but late August should be much better

We hiked the wallowas in early August. It’s a great time of year after snow melt, but there are mosquitoes. We have been near 4th of July and there was still a bit of snow and high level river crossings.

Can you do this as a day hike?
@HelenandTimTravel
@HelenandTimTravel Жыл бұрын
You could hike from Two Pan Trailhead to Mirror Lake out and back for a long day. Would take between 5ish to 8 hours depending on your pace. Here is the link to AllTrails info: East Fork Lostine Trail 1662 to Mirror Lake on AllTrails www.alltrails.com/trail/us/oregon/east-fork-lostine-trail-1662-to-mirror-lake?sh=4gewq9 If you try to summit Eagle Cap peak lake or any of the other lakes up there, would require an overnight or two nights since it’s around 35+ miles for entire: Eagle Cap via West Fork Wallowa, Glacier Lake, and Eagle Cap Summit Trail on AllTrails www.alltrails.com/trail/us/oregon/eagle-cap-via-west-fork-wallowa-glacier-lake-and-eagle-cap-summit-trail?sh=4gewq9
