If I had to guess how ad blocker is going to overcome this particular change that KZfaq is implementing, since KZfaq premium makes it so that they turn off ads regardless they're probably going to bake in a way for people who are signed in premium skip these ads that are baked into the videos. Adblock is probably going to take whatever commands that KZfaq premium would make so that they turn off the baked in ads to turn off the ads for everyone else
@ZedrapaziaАй бұрын
Thats what I'm expecting too. The ADs getting baked into the video are still somehow put in there by KZfaq itself, so they must be detectable somehow.
@MasicoreLordАй бұрын
For YT Premium users they'd likely just serve the video w/o any ads placed, the skip thing will likely still work as before depending on if the ad was skippable or not (apparently ublock origin for example was still hiding the button even for those who got the embedded ads)

KZfaq’s new plan basically means their servers have to re-render all videos individually for each view. There is no other way to deliver ads as part of the payload so ad blockers can’t distinguish it from the video. Now imagine this for 1 billion hours of video material, 1 billion views just on mobile devices a day, in high quality and with efficient compression. The computing power required will explode. How the hell do they expect the ad industry to make up for the additional energy cost? To me this looks like business road rage: For KZfaq, it’s not about what’s best for their business, but about vengeance and getting back at ad blockers at all costs.

No. I don’t think they do. (Source is from a different YT video so take this with a grain of salt) They don’t re-encode the video, they splice the already encoded packets into the stream. Videos are already transmitted as a set of separate data chunks, so they just slap the ads in with the rest of the data blocks and disguise them. The big difference is that now both the ads and the video come from the same place on the network, which means adblockers can no longer just block a list of addresses.
@rheokalyke367Ай бұрын
@@jimcobbler3954 So the solution is just an inverse sponsorblock that allows people to flag what part of the video are actually the video (as opposed to pointing out which parts are ads). Then have the blocker automatically skip all parts not deemed part of the video.

I think an important consequence of having to be signed in to watch KZfaq videos is teachers playing KZfaq videos in the classroom. It cannot be understated how useful educational content like Crash Course has been in helping teachers get the point across and make their students more interested in learning. I've also just had teachers pull up a quick KZfaq video to show an example of a chemical or biological process at work. Those teachers are pretty much never signed in, so it could be a problem if they started having to sign in every time they wanted to show a video.

What downloader do you use ?when they made this change they also broke all the file downloader’s.I’m currently looking for a new one that’s actually working

I wonder if they’ll use “invalid traffic” as an excuse to silence KZfaqrs pushing adblockers.

KZfaq dealing with bots: 👎 Valve dealing with bots: 👎 They both suck at dealing with bots tbh. Almost every youtube video I see either has a rage bait bot, NSFW bot, or those "who wants to play gacha life with me?" bots

If Google could just make sure the ads uploaded are safe and that they aren't intrusive, then we'd be happy.
