A little "Warriors" trivia... Filming was primarily at night in the streets of NY which meant REAL gang members were constantly around production and they weren't too happy about the movie being made. They threw bricks, stole movie equipment, vandalized production vehicles, and even threatened actors. Finally, in an attempt to quell the situation, the studio started hiring those gang members as security to "protect" the equipment and vehicles. Many of those "extras" in the park at the concave were actual NY gang members. Roger Hill (Cyrus) was a last minute replacement. The guy who was originally hired to play Cyrus was an actual gang member and the night before filming the "Can you dig it" scene he "mysteriously disappeared" and was never seen again. Jery Hewitt (Baseball Fury leader) had 3-ribs broken accidentally while filming that fight scene with the Warriors in the park.

that villain is hilarious..warriors come out and play!...i love true villains with no chance to turn good and embracing their wicked side showing it off flaunting it in films so you know who the bad guy is and how much you should hate him and then he can just be a character rather then some redeemable anti hero or tragic figure where the film has to waste time with exposition or flashbacks to make you sympathize or see their pov...i like the true bad guys who will well they just own up to it so if they die in the end you don't have to feel any guilt or sorry for them..they brought it upon themself....love that and wish more films did that.....a show has time to redeem a villain..a movie does not

Hey Boppers, My name is Moise Morancy. I’m the writer, director and producer on this proof of concept. I also star as Cleon in this. If you’re like me, someone who appreciates and loves “The Warriors,” you know in 2005, Rockstar created a video game based on the cult classic and gave a backstory to how the gang was formed. Myself and others believe this needs to be remade as a prequel. No one can hold a candle to the originators but I wanted to pay homage and give them their flowers. Because they weren’t good…they were “the best.” I hope you enjoy! 🙏🏿

@Revelian19822 ай бұрын
Hey. I went to your channel and had a look. Some aspects are impressive but there are a few issues that could be improved upon, the most glaring one being the editing. You need to shorten the video by a couple of minutes and mix the dialogue better with some of the visuals. You also need a second unit, doing pick-up shots. You could really do something special with a few more changes here and there. Also, some of the actors aren't great, so it does occasionally look amateurish. Overall, though, it looks like an interesting project.

This movie is based off the Anabasis (March to the Sea) by Xenophon, not the Odyssey. Cyrus is a reference to Cyrus the younger, a usurper prince who United the western satrapies against his older brother Artaxerxes. Cleon is Clearchus, the Spartan mercenary who’d assumed command of the Greek mercenary band known as the 10,000, only to be assassinated when negotiating his surrender after Cyrus the Younger’s death. Just as the Anabasis ends with the 10,000 arriving at the Greek ruled shores of Trebizond, the warriors ends with them reaching the coast at Coney Island.
@kakroom3407 Жыл бұрын
It might be structurally based on the Anabasis but it draws at least a tad from the Odyssey/Iliad There's literally a guy named Ajax Mac also has a good point about the Sirens
@Pantsinabucket Жыл бұрын
@@kakroom3407 there’s references to the Iliad/odyssey, but the baseline of the story and setting is clearly based on the Anabasis. All the gangs just represent the various mountain tribes and local armies the 10,000 had to fight their way through to reach the sea.

Very cool and fun video fellas. On the subject of the Baseball Furies: in Greek literature the Erinyes (also known as the Furies) were underworld deities who would take vengeance on those who had sworn a false oath. Seems fitting as in their understanding of the situation the Warriors came in under a banner of truce and foreswore their oath by killing Cyrus. That the Furies were unable to take down the Warriors is a sign of their innocence.
@Norocmorth2 жыл бұрын
I believe the furies would take vengeance on those who committed a blood crime, as in killing a family member. Which was basically the worst crime you could commit in the Greek world.

Fun fact is that this movie is a loose adaptation of (among other things) an Ancient Greek historical event where 10,000 Greeks are hired as mercenaries by the brother of the Persian king to help him usurp the throne. They march all the way from Greece to the middle of the Persian Empire to fight a battle, but during it the brother dies and the 10,000 Greeks pretty much have to fight there way back to Greece through 1,000s of miles of hostile territory. Similar premise and some of the characters are the same. Plus the brother's name is also Cyrus

Shit, the chicks are packed... Honestly what's so cool about this RLM video is that if I had a hour to talk with Macaulay Culkin, it'd probably be about his favorite movies, favorite food, and what is was like to know John Candy and Hughes on a personal basis. However, getting a chance to talk about The Warrior is another level of greatness. Thank you Jay and Culkin for this episode.. I know it's redundant to say, but I miss Candy and Hughes. John Hughes chase brought the Chicago/Midwest love while the Midwest has adopted Candy as one of our own. He was as much Canadian as he was Midwest.

Watched this movie literally 100+ times. It was my first VHS tape as a 13 year old. Disagree about fight scenes being poor, especially the battle in the bathroom. Well done. Great stuff. The video game was a wonderful homage and the last hour of the game (that portion being an elaboration of the movie) was fantastic. Tons of great music and as I recall much from the soundtrack. ALSO had voice overs by some of the cast.
