I watched the film today and found it very enjoyable to watch. Didn't read any review before watching it, so surprising it was written or critized as bearly watchable in some newspaper. Weird

I'm so disheartened by the early reviews. I was really really looking forward to this one. You were actually way kinder than some of the others I've seen here in last few days Chris. The same for me. One reviewer who read the book said the book was slow but more impactful than the movie although the creature design was better in the movie

I really enjoyed it! Sometimes critics just have to critic, but if you’re looking for a nice suspensenful horror flick this will do the job!

I watched it in the theaters and I absolutely loved it. It got flaws but it's not as bad as some reviews are making it to be. If you're a fan of cryptics or folktales, you'll love it

The people that I know saw it liked it so I'm looking forward to seeing it. They said it's eerily atmospheric like the village and I thought that movie was solid.

I really liked the movie. I felt stuck inside that box with the characters. I also enjoyed the cinematography and the “false” ending” you mentioned. And I really didn’t think there was too much exposition as you mentioned. I had fun and I really hope the new director brings more movies to us.

I like The Visit. It doesn't get much mention of course. Cool to see Dakota Fanning again. I thought maybe she was one of these kids that gave up acting.

@@abfabheckyeah7691How does the professor have contractors out in the woods to build a powered bunker, and how has a hybrid not ventured outside of the forest already? The film has more unanswered questions. Hopefully, the book does a better job of explaining the mysteries surrounding the forest.

I thought it was made by M Night Shyamalan going into the movie or even after watching it. 😂😂😂. It is filmed well, but it does have the surprises and twists similar to dad’s later movies. I had not problem with showing the antagonists. I think you had to, but design was not special or unique. The movie just felt like first and second act of a movie - the set up and reveal. But the real movie seemed like possible sequel that the ending suggested? Overall, good looking movie, but everything else seem lacking.

Well is just a matter of taste, I always watch Shyamalan movies, and this one is worth to watch, I watched with friends and we all enjoyed very much. So many reviews, it means something right, just watch 😅

I think it’s a dark fantasy, more so than a horror film. And people might be more willing to buy into the film knowing this

I am so confused over whether to go see this one or not. If this were the only review I’d probably go for sure but with so many extremely negative reviews it’s hard to decide. Most movie reviews are so damn negative these days it’s gotten to a point where not following anyone’s opinion prior to the movies I want to see is starting to make more and more sense.

If you go into it thinking it is a horror movie (like I did based off the massive marketing) then you will most likely be bored/disappointed. I personally did not enjoy this movie. I thought it was dull and meant for more of a casual movie goer. It was beautifully shot minus the goofy cgi added in post, but it is not a movie I am interested in revisiting. Overall I found it uninteresting and disjointed. It wasn’t confusing like some have mentioned on other reviews. It just felt rushed and devoid of meaningful character development. It was actually the first movie this year that I wish I would have waited to stream instead of buying a ticket for. I didn’t even feel that way about the massive upset that was The Strangers: Chapter 1. I also don’t think Ishana should get a pass just because it’s her debut - in a violent nature and the first omen we’re both debuts and we’re both brilliant (although not for a casual moviegoing audience - be forewarned). I am interested to see Ishana’s direct more projects because this movie was technically sound, but she should hand over the next screenplay to someone more competent.

This movie was a disappointment. I understand it is an adaption to a movie however there were elements from the book which really needed to be in this movie. For example, in the book madeline is stern, stand off ish and rude. In particular, her behaviour towards daniel and kira leads them to taking a certain action. However, in this movie she is quite motherly, friendly and overtly protective of them. Another area which that just didnt land for me was the acting and the dialogue. It all just seemed so wooden and unnatural. Dont get me started on the fairy people lived side by side nonsense. I just really wish i could just say it was average but it wasnt. I really wanted to enjoy this because i really enjoyed the source material.

thought it lacked a lot of things. First, the middle part of this movie was very boring. I don't think the plot was well planned out at all. First of all, the professor's office and all his work being available and untouched due to some university deal is absolutely ridiculous and more fantasy than the fairies. That concept was almost like the story was planned out, a plot gap about how his research was investigated in detail was noticed, and somebody went in afterward and thought "oh, wait, through a special deal his office is preserved." Very silly. And, the carpet was turned up an exposed the door to below On accident? Really, nobody would've searched around? Nobody would have checked under the carpets for a way to get out, they had time every day for it. Not very realistic. As an author, one tries to write faction where possible, this movie lacked a lot of "common sense." I think this director needs some lessons on how to build suspense. I thought this was worse than both Imaginary and Night Swim. Boring waste of time for me.

Are we talking about the same amateur Director and writer? There are no twist in any of his movies. They are very very obvious from the opening scene. He cheated with the sixth sense allowing Bruce Willis to change clothes. the little boy gives it away immediately that Bruce Willis is dead. idiots have been riding that wave the whole time. he hasn’t he’s just been continuously putting out crappy movies. There are no twist. There are no surprises. If you want to see a twist go watch the prestige Momento for the first time that’s a twist. This is another film student project at best.
