take out the the specific twist the plot really reminds me of sin city movie and also they both are neo noir

I rank them in order of release. X is my favorite bc I love a slasher, Pearl is an outstanding lead performance, but Maxxxine just didn’t have the magic of the first two. I enjoyed it, but only until that disjointed conclusion. Why include the night stalker if we’re not even going to use him in the story? Weird choice

I used to hang out on Hollywood Blvd. back in 1985 and the film got that right. I liked the movie and will definitely purchase the blu ray when it's released.

I’m 20 mins in and I almost clicked off. I’m from Alabama which is know for that type of behavior. I work at a plant nursery with Mexicans and Guatemalans. The amount of work they do and the lengths they go for their family is incredible. I’m glad I wasn’t dragged into the garbage mindset of racist as a young child.

Maxxxine really let me down. I LOVE Mia Goth, Pearl and X. This film had alot of great ingredients but the story overall was weak and I hated the 3rd act so much..I was expecting it to be one of fav movies of the year but I was really let down

I understand what this show is going for.. but it misses the mark. The overuse of cut scenes, odd camera angles and weak dialogue makes it fall short. Go watch Bosch or Rockford Files instead.

I really enjoyed Maxxxine. Ti West did hold back a little it seems. The ending was probably the most expected conclusion, but it was a fun ride. A great trilogy. I really liked all the movies. I would probably go in the same order as you, but they are all close to each other. Mia Goth did an amazing job.

You’re slightly nicer to it than I was. 2.5/5 couches from me. I enjoyed the side characters more than Maxine and they only gave the side characters moments and no real development so it was a kind of hard watch for that reason for me personally. I loved Giancarlo Esposito, Moses Sumney, and Bobby Cannavale in this for the little bit they get in this.

This was my most anticipated film of the year. I hate that it was so by-the-numbers. We needed an explosive ending and did not get that. Still, I love Mia Goth, and I will continue to follow her career. Thank you for your review, Chris!

I don’t know… I liked the fact that the bad guys were part of an extended family too. They are bad people, but they have feelings too even if they are morally corrupted. It was better than just making them faceless and nameless villains. It also make the leaders more evil when they had to make decisions. Definitely, the violence is pretty graphic. This along with Maxxxine has graphic head bashing. Seems excessive time in cinema…

Tbh I was kinda bored during this. The story and characters are so bland. Personally I would give X a 4, pearl 3.5, maxxxine 2.5

I absolutely loved Maxxxine. The overall performances by Goth and Bacon were fantastic. The music was on another lever from your usual 80s nostalgia film. As all the Ti West movies in this trilogy are filmed very stylistic and in very different ways, he has really created a gritty Hollywood crime noir in that Italian thiller genre. I think that might be the reason that Maxine as a character felt isolated, and there wasn't a whole lot of character development for the surrounding cast. The police officers really hilighted that (gaillo style) of storytelling. X would still be my top film, but I thought this was a considerable step above Pearl. The conclusion was a bit safe, and for me, it was a bit predictable, but I'm not too sure that this is the last time we will see Maxine Minx....... you know, because she's a f@%king STAR!

The movie is okay but to me the weakest of the trilogy. Maxine was one of the least interesting characters in the movie. And don't get me started on that third act. Wow. SMH🤦‍♂️

Totally agree. This movie is underwhelming. As a whole, this is definitely the weakest one. If this was the first movie and the other 2 came later, I would see a progression. At this point, it looks like he ran out of interesting story to tell. But nonetheless, I would keep an eye for his next directorial movie. And Mia Goth has been blowing up in the last few years since X.

Interesting show full of weird, goofy actors. If you like the lore, you'll like the show. However, after a steady diet of Norsemen, I just can't hear the accent and take it seriously.

I watched it last night and the episodes kept buffering/not loading. It was almost like someone didn't want me to watch it. Or it could just be too many people on the Netflix server...

Well, some need that happy ending I guess. Me, I loved this movie - came out of nowhere and hit hard. Boring? I was on needles throughout the entire film! Also cred to Blumhouse for daring to produce such a provocative indie piece like this in contrast to their Nun and Conjuring-franchise. Extra mention goes to the actors - this can NOT have been an easy shoot. 4 of 5.
