The little old boy who did he Hitler joke, was my Uncle Len Chamberlain, he was the funniest man on the planet, and an amazing dancer. Lost his wife my Auntie May very early. He was simply a wonderful man in everyway

Thank you for making this film in 1992, I see he died in 1993, 25 years ago. My best friend and I started in 1993. We recognize we are following in his footsteps aging and while buying and servicing watches, watch tools and watchmaker machines, rebuilding the machines tools and wristwatches adding them ever so steady to our collection of working things to show and share with others. He Mr. Bowler's had been at it since 1919, us since 1993 we will likely work up to the day we either both can no longer see those small parts or being able to continue doing quality craftsmanship, because like Clifford we will die just after stopping kind of like the wristwatch has a heartbeat so to do each of us. We are making our first of a weekly video series that will chronograph our watches the making of watch parts ans the rebuilding of the watchmaker machines and precision instruments that make these fine timepieces come to life, all of this so others can watch learn share and enjoy seeing just how we perform our workmanship. Mr. Bowler's is an inspiration to the two of us, to continue to provide our skills and knowledge of watchmaking as long as we are able. The best reward of our work comes from the smile of the customer that arrives to be reunited with their wristwatch as these watches can and often are an extension of the watch owners family, remember that you never own a fine wristwatch you are merely its caretaker for the future generations to share and enjoy after you are no longer able to.

Both uplifting and sad, a rather beautiful piece of filmaking. What a lovely old chap, 50p to fix your strap! Those were the days.

Sadly not. He passed away in 1995 and a plaque marks where his shop was in Mill Lane NW3. He was a member of Cricklewood Working Mens club where they have a large photo of him.

My partner just bought this property. We’re currently renovating the living part (the shop was sold separately) but as a keen watch collector I’ll definitely be keeping the plaque outside which shows when Mr Bowler lived there. Nice piece of history.

What a smiling face he has. He feels sad that he cannot pass on his knowledge to others. Those were the days which we cannot see any more.

A great piece of History. What a shame, his great knowledge of watch making has gone to the grave along with him. A great loss to humanity indeed.
