This was a great and comprehensive presentation of the Watchman Campground, which also meets my taste very well. Privacy and nature is what we prefer, too. Great review of an incredible campground. We stayed a week in B044 and it was perfect. Easy access to the park and town and right on the river.

Thanks! Great review. We are staying there a couple of nights later this spring. You are right about the web site. It is not real friendly and campsites do disappear quickly.

Nice video tour of the campground, thanks. We also have a large dog, how was your experience with the dog? Were you able to go into the park with the dog? Is there a place to let the dog run around off-leash?

I don't believe there are any off-leash areas within the park boundary. The only trail we could take our dog on is the paved Pa'rus trail. Have a fun time in Zion!

yes! During this trip we had electric hookups at the campsite so we kept him comfortable in the trailer when we did hikes that are not dog friendly. We did take him on dog friendly trail walks too :)

We have never seen bears in Zion - they are very rarely seen in the area. Here is a mammal species list from the park website: www.nps.gov/zion/learn/nature/mammals.htm#:~:text=Zion%20is%20home%20to%2068,bighorn%20sheep%2C%20and%20rock%20squirrels.&text=The%20key%20to%20a%20good,when%20and%20where%20to%20look.

If we are close to a restroom, is it possible/allowed to run a hose from the water outlet to the RV? No idea how it is setup. Been to a campground where that was ok but hard to tell here.

I don't think that would be allowed/would be able to fit on to the spigot. The restroom area has water spigots for public use for refilling water jugs, and there is a water faucet/ sink area for washing dishes. You can call the campground to confirm but my guess would be that is not allowed or possible for the Watchman Campground.

New Camper. Once you've paid for your spot, can you leave spot and not worry about stealing your spot or your set up tent? Or should you break down your tent when leaving? Thanks

If you had a week long reservation, you can leave your campsite up all week or take it down every day when you venture out into the park. No one should take your camp site as there is a ranger station before the entrance to show your reservation/site number for check in. We noticed a lot of rented RVs were cleaning up and leaving their sites empty during the day, then they would return at night to sleep at their spot.

Question on booking, I'll be booking 2 nights. Do I need to book the first night when it opens and then the second night the next day when that day opens? #newbie

Hi Kathy - when you go to make a campsite reservation on recreation.gov, you can book your full stay (up to 14 nights) about 6 months in advance. No need to go back and try to book the second night the following day. hope that helps! :)
