I discovered PH in September of 2019 and I must say it has continued to be the best thing I've ever discovered. The passion and love that can be felt through this story has inspired me as a creator and so many others. I really hope to see the day it gets adapted as a show or something. It deserves it.

There was a point where I had like 15+ Webtoons I kept track of and read every update for, then I completely stopped reading Webtoons unless Purple Hyacinth updated. It was the only one I thought was worth reading anymore.

this is one of the good old series in webtoon, nowadays webtoon is filled with very generic stuffs like Duke/duchess/isekai/reincarnation, few of them good are left. Cheap stuff is overshadowing good things

I loved your review, I think you made such good points and really emphasize what is so great about Purple Hyacinth. For me, it is without a doubt my favorite webtoon. Not only the story is complex and the dynamics betweet characters is amazing, but it has something that made me fell in love with it whithin the first episodes. I am a sucker for a story that takes its time to create a compex story not only for the main characters, but for all of them. And the Purple Hyacinth has that. You see the trauma in their lives, how they cope with it and how it is coming back in the most stressful situations. You get symbolism, panels that repeat themselves to highlight all the hardships the characters have been going through. You get to smile with the characters, cry with them, be concerned for them because they have no one to help them. You get to empathize with the characters because they all have such different stories and for sure at least one of them reminds you of yourself. I love this webtoon so much and i wish more people would read it because it surely deserves it. Eph and Soph, the creators of Purple Hyacinth, deserve every once of recognition for the art they make. YESSS!! YESSSS!! Words can't describe how proud I am of PH but I'm gonna fcking try anyway. It's absolutely phenomenal! I've recommended it for years now and some people don't budge, they're missing out on some epic sht The characters and relationships are amazing! I would die for Kym Ladell! The world is cozy and dark, the plot is absolutely thrilling, the sound effects and songs are one of a kind!! There isn't some drama with tropes like miscommunication or romantic BS, BUT there are emotional stakes, very deep trauma each of the main characters have and I love them!! They interact in such a realistic way that you can't help but beg for more!! I'd gladly let Soph and Eph feast on my tears.

Lots of good webtoon but for me this is the best so far because music, characters, style, stories, thrill, makes u think, u want to read it again, myriad of emotions, and kimmy is fun.

Winter woods is a worthy webtoon ! Great music and visuals , with a dark twisted undertone as the storey goes on. Definitely check it out.

If you're looking for more comics like Purple Hyacinth, may I suggest Empyrea? It has the same level of world building. The character depth and the expanse of the world, it's history, and culture make this story something most would believe to be real if they were not told otherwise.

I dont think lauren had an equal footing against the best trained assassin especially when assassins are a whole other level compare to police training kieran simply let his guard down he even told her later on that hes not really trying if not the results would be different and showed off how lauren is nowhere near with just one move which makes logical sense anyways but lauren is still badass

Please read the webtoon THE EMBER KNIGHT/KNIGHT OF EMBERS it's an ongoing webtoon series that no one is talking about but it's so good it's full of shonen esq tropes but it either subverts or reconstructs them. Synopsis: It's about knight apprentices that are training to become fully fledged knights but one of them (the MC) is pretending to be his dead twin brother and only has his mind and wits in order to blend in with the other apprentices in order to find the group of assassins that murdered his brother and get his revenge. There's a prequel series called Gilgamesh that gives more context about the story world but even though it's a simple premise of wizards and knights the ranking and power system is so interesting and the characters!!! are a big part of what makes The Ember Knight so interesting as well. I know that you've already been reading and covering various other underrated or less discussed series but The Ember Knight is something that I have a good feeling that you and many others will enjoy especially if you love the way the genre of Shonen is evolving

I just discovered this WEBTOON about a week ago and I’m sooo happy I decided to read it. I’m not even the biggest fan of WEBTOON, but I absolutely love this story. I can’t literally cannot stop thinking about it.

Oh oh I recomend you another webtoon original series called “Love Advise from the Great Duke of Hell” its a comedy with lots of funny and serious facial expressions and I’ll end with that to not spoil. Its totally different from the isekai stuff

Purple hyacinth is one of those webtoon/manga which is best at using the scroll type panelling of webtoons

The story is AMAZINGLY written and it keeps the viewer on edge at all times, twists and turns are always lurking the corner and the characters intrigue you in ways you’d never expect! Only thing I have to disagree on is the development in romance, this may be just me but it’s seems kinda non existent or just painfully slow (and yes I’m aware it’s intended to be a slow burn but even still it seems a bit too dragged out.) I absolutely enjoy the partnership between the main characters but I’d say their romance is unconvincing as of right now. Not hating btw, I’m a huge Purple Hyacinth fan this is just my critical opinion. All the other relationships are a breath of fresh air with the family dynamics’s to the best friends all the way down to the co workers! Everything else is just to die for!

since we're talking webtoons i remembered Shiloh and figured id recommend it edit- also for a fun chill read id recommend De Novo and anything by that author edit- I'm the Grim Reaper is also good not me randomly remembering webtoons and then editing them in this comment edit- another one came out recently its still very new but i like it so far its called "Lily Crown"

never read a webtoon but since our tastes in fave manga are similar, i'll definitely give it a shot because the storyline is heaps interesting i love stories involving unravelling secret societies/greater conspiracies thanks mate!

Legend of the northern blade is worth your time because it's like a fantasy about the murime Korean time line about the single linage of a boy having his family gone and the story develops from there adding more sects to add to the world building and the fights are quick paced. Yh this is second time commenting about this.

I don't know if it's intentional but these edits make me laugh.😆 Though speaking of webtoons, there's one that came out recently, that I think you'd enjoy, it has a really unique take on magic and the story was originally on Deviantart before it was removed, revamped/revised and brought over to webtoon. It's called Woven. It's by Lark & Wren, the story itself is as the description of it goes: The Dragons have fled and the mages are nowhere to be found, taking with them all the forms of magic that once permeated the kingdom. Born blind, Ayse strives to find her place in a world she perceives very differently than those around her, a world in fear after a violent uprising. As she sets out to master the illegal art of weaving spells, will she unravel the truth about kingdoms, mages and dragons? The magic system is very different than what we're used to, with said magic being tied to threads that a human can't see, and if one is pulled it corresponds to an object or thing nearby. Ayes, however, can see it even though she is blind. I don't want to go more into it, because even though it's just starting out (currently four chapters out that are free to read) it's best to go in with little to no information because it does a really good job at "show don't tell" type of storytelling, and even then it gives clues and bits of lore that is really interesting. The only thing I will say about it is that the artwork is gorgeous and unique, it gives Avatar the Last Airbender vibes with just the aesthetic and feel of the world it's in. But even if you don't want to read it right away and you just want to wait and binge it, I highly recommend it because it is that good. At least in my opinion, if that's worth anything.😊

The Webtoons I Love Yoo (drama), In The Bleak Midwinter (scifi) and Let's Play (romance/comedy) are also wonderful, but in different ways.

I'm following this webtoon for two years now. Honestly, the humor is cringe and story feels strange. Like, I wish to see more interractions between MCs. Just a simple human talk. I don't feel as excited for the story as when I started to read. Just want to see how it ends at this point.
