I remember body surfing storm surf like this in 1965. Newport Beach south against the jetty is big and always ends rough and shallow.

That small spot is no joke, I remember my closest bros would go and get absolutely worked over, they all swore that the waves in that spot on good days seemed more alive and ready to smack you down as hard as possible then punch you right in the face. Maybe that's why these are often the waves I paint from memory.

This reminds me of the 70's and 80's with my bros, all surfing or watching and heckling the rest of the day every big swell.
