Michelle - I have four of the sandwich containers in a box for you ..... just haven't sent it yet :-) (so yes we do understand when you say you are behind on your 'to do' list). There is one purple, two blue and one green. Will try to send them this week. I live in rural south Georgia and those containers are scare here also. When I go on errands or PD and spot a Dollar Tree, I run in and check - and literally these are the only four I have found - and that is within a 60 miles radius!!! P.S Four hrs later.... found two more: a pink and a purple. Have a great week! Update: 2 days later..... I mailed the pkg Mon, 10/2.... USPS says delivery will be Thurs or Fri.

In high school my teacher would do a chapter review on kahoot. The top three would get points and it went on a chart. By the end of the semester the top ten would get extra credit.

I'm glad you took the initiative and saw that since your kids didn't get it, you did it your way. This is what makes an amazing teacher. Some teachers would have told them to just work harder. A kid who doesn't get it can't just work harder. And when they can't, it's up to us, their teachers, to help break it down. If there's a will, there's a way.

TJ Maxx or Marshalls has those sandwich and snack containers. They might cost a bit more. But I don’t think much. It’s not the exact same one and they are clear. I know you want them to match. But if you can’t find them those places have options.

I love hearing about a student being so excited about getting to take extra teacher materials home. It brings me back to my second grade teacher (she's a huge reason why I am going into teaching) surprising me by putting an Everyday Math teachers edition book into my backpack at the end of the year. The school was just recently sent all new curriculum books from Scott Foresman Everyday Math, and she knew of my love of teaching and education, and to this day it is something I will forever cherish. I look at that book and not only see the past, but all the dreams about what the future holds in one of the most rewarding careers ever. You have been such an inspiration to me, and I truly can not thank you enough for all of the hard work that you put into your videos, it is most definitely appreciated!

Hi Michelle! I doubt you will see this, BUT I just had to tell you how big of an impact you had on me. I graduated this May with my BEd. My first practicum was amazing, it was in a grade 4/5 split and I had the most supportive cooperating teacher, and amazing (though extremely chatty) students. However, my second practicum was in a Kindergarten class and it was terrible. I had extremely challenging students and my cooperating teacher was awful. She never once told me I was doing a good job and was constantly tearing me down and telling me what to change. When I would change my strategies, she would tell me I wasn't doing a good enough job. She made it very clear that she could not wait to have her classroom back, and that she did not think I would be a good teacher. The fact that I finished this practicum and graduated was an absolute miracle. After that I kind of lost my love for teaching. I spent all summer trying to convince myself that I wanted to do this job, and more importantly was CAPABLE of doing it. I started watching your vlogs and honestly it has made me fall in love with teaching again. You are so positive and I love how real you are. A few weeks ago I started looking into teaching in England (I'm from Canada), and tomorrow I am going to accept a year 4 teaching job that starts in January. THANK-YOU for helping me find my love of teaching again

Best part of teaching "Building Relationships!" Yes!! I remember when I first started teaching, I would be crying at the end of the year, because I was going to miss my students. And some students that I really bonded with, I'd drive by and drop off gifts during Christmas! :) I love hearing back from them, getting pictures and seeing what they're up to! This truly is the BEST part of teaching!

Michelle, this is probably the first time I've ever commented on a youtube video. I found your channel this summer while looking at teacher vlogs, and I've followed ever since. Even though I teach high school, I have been inspired by you, your creativity, and your passion for teaching. I have a massive amount of respect for elementary teachers because I can't imagine teaching everything to all of them all day long, particularly reading. I can teach my students literary criticism and rhetorical analysis ebause someone taught them how to read, and I never cease being amazed by that. Your students will benefit for the rest of their lives from having someone so dedicated to them and helping them grow. So many of them will remember you forever as a person who cared for them and nurtured them, and if all students had teachers like that every year, imagine what this country would look like. Now for the unsolicited advice: remember to put you and your family first. It's SO hard, but as a teacher who spent years doing the opposite more than I should have, I do regret that it took me so long to figure out that balance (and honestly--it's still a work in progress). My eldest leaves for college next year, and I regret the times I put grading, planning, or working first. Your honesty and desire to share your passion with us is a gift, shared in a way that works best for you--don't worry for one minute about upsetting people if a shcedule change works for you (easier said than done, I know). This comment is a book--I'll end with another heartfelt thank you from a high school English teacher who has been inspired by you (I even started a blog this summer . . . not ready for a vlog ;)) in many ways (I've started using PowerPoint to design materials and I LOVE it--so much design freedom!).

Another thing...thank you! I have been teaching for 3 years, but this is my first year in a public school. This has truly been a struggle for me. The district that I chose to work for has a lot of problems of it's own, but I thought that if my school provided a supportive environment that I would be fine. Unfortunately, the last positive thing I have heard from my principal was following my interview in May when she told me I was hired. I've been told by other staff that positive (or even constructive) feedback is not something she does. There was no PD over our core curriculums, no support provided for classroom setup (I had to wait 2 weeks after school started for my desk to be resized), and no assistance provided for understanding the systems used for attendance/grades. When I asked which exit I was supposed to use for fire drills, my principal responded by saying I should go find it! This school year has been miserable, and last week I was ready to give up on teaching. Listening to you talk about finding the right place has renewed my energy. I know that this school is not the right place for me, but the right place is out there. I just have to find it. So, thank you for inspiring me to keep going. I going in tomorrow with renewed faith that I can get through this year. The right school is out there waiting for me!

That genuine happy feeling is amazing. I too have experienced it since August ~ but I quit teaching in May and went into a completely different career ~ I am an Admin Assistant for a small CPA firm. I love every minute of what I do, and working with each of the team members in my office. I haven't felt this AMAZING in years ~ so you are right. If your not happy, there is something wrong and it may mean a small change, or it could mean a HUGE one.

hi, if you like kahoot you would love quizlet live it's a great way to start your kids up and having fun while working together you make a quizlet and then you make it live your kids enter the code there name and they get grouped! say there was a group of 3 students on each of there chrome books they would have four answers it asked the question and the top and they work together to answer if someone from the group answers wrong then they are reset to 0 so they learn to not give up! i recommend having the students playing as many games as it takes for one group to win twice! hope this explanation helps it a great way to have you students change up what they are doing

I am leaving my current position to work at a school closer to home, giving me an hour back to my day. I have many other reasons for leaving, but bottom line I was not happy. I have spent the last few weeks feeling like a terrible person for leaving after the first quarter. I NEVER thought I would be THAT teacher. Hi Michelle! I recently found your vlogs and have really enjoyed watching your excitement for teaching as well as your honesty with how difficult and overwhelming it can be. So thanks for that! I'm in my first official year of teaching. I am teaching 5th grade at a school for missionary kids in Peru! Originally I'm from Minnesota and I graduated college last December. You talked a little about subbing for awhile and I totally recommend it. I ended up getting a long term subbing position right after graduation and it was great! And although I really wanted to do day by day subbing the long term position offered so many learning experiences it was so worth it! Right now I'm enjoying 5th grade but my dream teaching job is actually a setting 3 special ed classroom. That is what I subbed in and loved it! Anyways just wanted to say thank you and hope you have a great week of school! And hopefully there are less meetings!

I like teaching fifth grade, but I'm having so much trouble with the behavior problems and other things. I've already decided to try looking into different schools for next year. I know I want to teach, but it's so easy to doubt yourself when things are not going well. Love your videos. They always make me smile.

Michelle, you should definitely try to avoid going to school with wet hair! I'm not sure if it's particularly chilly where you are yet, but that's always a surefire way to get me sick. If you just don't have time to dry it, skip a day of washing. Your hair will actually be better for it!

It doesn't cause a virus, but it definitely always gives me the sniffles and a scratchy throat when its cold outside, and that is something I'd try to avoid when I'm already trying to combat a virus like she is :) Of course I know her sickness comes from a germy new school year lol

Re: the ramen, iced coffee and your health - what you eat or not eat is between you and your doctor. ONLY! No one here has any right to tell you what foods to put in your mouth! If you want to eat ramen noodles and iced coffee 10 times a day and that’s all you want to eat, go for it and don’t listen to anyone here online. People need to mind their own business and just worry about their own eating - not yours. 😊

So great to always see your videos! I have to say...I have the SAME wireless doorbell which I got at the beginning of the year in white and I also use the same ring tone that you showed in the video. I also want to add that I do love ramen noodle soup with vinegar too. Lately though I love squeezing lime juice in it which is so yummy! Thank you for sharing your ideas and videos. As a fourth grade teacher, I agree that sometimes the way the book teaches the math content doesn’t help then understand so I’m always looking for different ways to explain it to them so the students can finally understand. Way to go Michelle!

Goodness people need to pipe down. Your a grown woman, if you want an ice coffee then you can drink whatever you want to. In regards to the Ramen noodles girl, teaching itself is exhausting sometimes and those pick me up kinds of food or easy to fix food when we are sick is a MUST!. Eat whatever you want! Silly people I don't usually have planning but twice a week, and we eat lunch with our kids. I understand completely how valuable planning period is, you rock girl Love the pickler app... going to try this out next few weeks

I love how REAL you are!! It's refreshing!! Most public school teachers I know are so careful that they lose all relatebility (did I just make up a word? Lol) I love REAL people. I don't want to have to put a lot of guess work in understanding people. ❤️❤️

We have that same door bell!!! It works great! We got two of the remotes so we can have them on either side of the room. We use it for transitions so when the kids hear it they all have to stop working, stand up, and put down anything in their hands and look at us for instructions. We have them so well trained with it! (Second grade)

I always have a well sugared trough of tea when I am sick. Mainly for the energy boost. For coffee, try a ceramic over the cup or a vietnamese coffee filter(amazon) for on the go office coffee. I created a coffee/tea/cocoa drawer at my desk.
