Gone is 7 mins of the Weekend being on drugs, the idea with Thursday was to prove that HOB was not a fluke and his team can just make hits with ease. He's said in interviews he doesnt even know what he really said at some points, they just recorded it in one take, also XO is the Weeknds Cliqe and now label similar to Drakes OVO, XO stood for XTC and OxyCodone

that’s one of the reasons why gone is one of my favorite weeknd songs to this day. gone is so raw, the beat change, the third verse just sounds like your so wasted and faded that nothing makes sense and that’s why it’s so relatable. gone was a complete freestyle, he didn’t know what he was saying at times and it’s so raw and heartfelt nothing compares.

XO stands for Ecstasy and OxyContin. The Weeknd turns something cute and loving into something dark and twisted, the same way his music and voice sounds like it’s from heaven, but the lyrics are from hell. The same comparison can be made with House Of Balloons, on the surface it sounds like a kid’s birthday party, when in reality it’s Abel’s drug ridden lifestyle

This record is my favourite out of the three but from experience I know that I'm in the minority. House of Balloons usually steals the show for most people.. I just love the sinister and dark approach that Abel takes and of course, the Drake feature (which made me check out The Weeknd in the first place!) so it'll always hold a special place for me.

I agree. HOB was my favorite, but i listens to thursday and EOS more and i’ve realized that thursday is actually my favorite. now that i think about it, HOB might be overrated. don’t get me wrong it’s still a classic and i love it, but it’s obviously the most overrated out of the 3

nah this takes place over 2 years, hob is he finds a girl named valerie, he convinces her to do drugs, they party, then valerie leaves abel (the weeknd) to go with her boyfriend, he goes to a stripper club and brings someone home (wicked games) for coming down and loft music he sending voicemails to valerie, she responds on the knowing saying she loves her boyfriend not abel, but he knew this. For part 2 (thursday) Valerie falls in love with abel after a bunch of bad stuff happened to her. But abel loves something else more (sex, drugs and achohol) Valerie says she will be the weeknds (abels) forever if he does not fuck anyone else but her only on thursdays, but he can any other day. He eventually tells her she should leave because he does not love her enough, and then for part 3 on dd a dirty diana (look up what that means) makes him have sex with her on a thursday, and while abel is on a call the dirty diana tells valerie that hes fucking her instead, and valerie leave. The weeknd wants valerie to come back on outside, and says she wont want to go outside ever after fucking him. On xo/the host he gets a hoe (term used in song) to come to xo and have sex with him. But on initiation he says she most first get super high and be put on drugs then get gangbanged by all the people in xo. Thats all i know

House of Balloons is deffo his most accessible album/mixtape out of the three mixtape. Thursday is more experimental and the enjoyment depends on your mood I feel like. Echoes of Silence is his saddest mixtape to date and his best in my opinion, its the perfect mix between House of Balloons and Thursday. By the way there is a definitive story Abel is telling throughout the three mixtapes

Can we talk about rolling stone for a second? I love that song dearly. whenever the music video for Rolling stone came out, Abel put out an open letter to his fans about the music video/the song. in the song he sings "until you're used to my face and my mystery fades, i got you". this is him coming to terms with no longer being underground and eventually becoming mainstream. despite signing to a record label and maybe even seeming like he was being "a sell out" - in his open letter he puts, "You will continue to get what you fell in love with, and I will continue to give you what you asked for". I remember watching the music video and then reading his explanation on it in his open letter. Makes me really appreciate him as an artist, and despite how experimental his music may get, it's the same Abel deep down

When I say Trilogy changed my life, people tend to not understand unless they've heard it themselves as well. I'm only 21 so I heard it as a pretty young teen, and I will say it awakened me in SO many ways. His music is something that will be timeless, I can already tell. Lonely Star has always been my favorite weeknd track & I find it interesting that most critics don’t place it very high on their lists. If you were in highschool during THAT 2010/2011 era with The Weeknd and Drake both just starting, their music has a different meaning to you. Their music represents an entire era/generation, and completely changed the course of music. This album is an ALL TIME GREAT!!!

Echoes of Silence has more elements of traditional hip hop and R&B sprinkled with what made house of balloons so great, personally my favorite. Love how they flip drakes voice from the zone on the end of Initiation. Most people would say 1. House of Balloons 2. Echoes of Silence 3. Thursday Less time was spent on Thursday, and if I’m not mistaken, this is the one Drake took records off of for his own in Take Care. So, imagine records like Crew Love and Shot For Me on this mixtape.

you're gonna LOVE Echoes of Silence. the production takes a HUGE jump forward, his voice is more of the focal point of the tracks (less reverb and distortion), and he covers the King of Pop himself on the first track. i can't wait for your reaction to EOS. And you HAVE to do his first studio album 'Kiss Land'

also I've noticed you say you dont relate to alot of the tracks but you still enjoy them. A lot of us feel the same way, the reason the tracks still impact on you because the energy and what hes feeling is relateable more so than the content. Great video my man keep it up
