It's incredible how Abel uses a gunshot sound as the beat of the song and Valerie crying and sobbing at the beginning of the song before killing herself after Abel's rejection is something that leaves you unable to move, speechless and about to drown with your own sea of tears

the birds pt. 2 is one of my favorite songs on thursday. he's a bird, it's in his nature move on, to see other women. she's legit begging him not to, with a gun to her head, as he leaves. she is then finally out of love with him. she took her life, the only way to fall out of love with him. GORGEOUS. this song perfectly captures relationships in the present era, the madness of the weeknd considering valerie is a real person & the way people barely survive without their partner, no matter how cruel.

Yes rolling stone is basically him talking to us and letting us know that he’s going to change. “I know I’ll be different, and I hope you’ll still listen”. “And baby love me, before they all love me” like we should enjoy the kind of music he made at the time before the change and he reaches a broader audience. He made a music video where he represents this. Also gone was just a long ass freestyle 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.

My interpretation of “I’ll be different, I think I’ll be different” on Rolling Stone is that he’s telling his fans he won’t sell out and will keep true to his sound. Then he admits when faced with the decision between a making a ton of money and staying true to himself, he hopes he’ll choose the money due to the less than desirable circumstances of his upbringing - “I hope I’m not different and I hope you’ll still listen” and “I’m in a life without a home so this recognitions not enough”. It’s really cool how Abel basically prophesied his own meteoric rise. I also thinks he’s done a better job than most artists to keep his core fan base happy.

The remorse you’re looking for this storyline with Valerie is in the song Valerie(bonus track). Also you’ve got it right that she shot herself in the birds pt2, cuz that’s the only way she could stop loving him sadly. And gone is just a freestyle that he did while high af irl, but for the storyline it’s basically him getting high on drugs and all to mask the emotions, he does care(as seen in Valerie) but he doesn’t want to show it or admit it just yet.

A stand alone track that I think should've made it into the trilogy series even just as a bonus was the song titled "Enemy". It didn't make it onto any of his projects but it still captures this darker period of his life. So maybe that could be included in your "bonus tracks" reaction. He's got a lot of stand alone promo's but this was one of the most cold-hearted imo.

In the song Rolling Stone, Abel is using the girl as an analogy to address his old fans and asking them to not to leave him as he was getting mainstream attention. He literally predicted his success as his new music doesn't sound anything like the triology.

BTW Rolling stone was a message to XO about him blowing up & moving on to the industry. At the time we ALL wanted him to stay lowkey and not be the pop star he is now. I.e "ill be different, They all love me, I hope im not different, Hope you will still listen" I remember when he dropped the video it was confirmed for the fans

Gone was basically him high and freestyling for the record label to convince them that he actually has talent for them to take him seriously and release Thursday.

Even though Gone was pretty much a freestyle, I think it still fits the narrative. He just couldn't deal with what happened in Birds pt. 2 (whether she shot herself or him) and went back to his usual activities to numb the pain. His voice sound very painful there. Like, lirically he still tries to convince you and the girl that he's in control, but soundwise it seems like he's completely lost his mind.

The gunshot In The Birds pt. 2 is Valerie shooting the girl Abel cheated on her with. The one she mentiones in the line 'Let me fall out of love before you fuck her'. The same line he famously used years later in Call Out My Name but in a completely reversed situation with him begging and the girl leaving for another person. So In the Birds pt.1 and 2, my takeaway is him warning "Valerie" initially not to fall in love with someone like him bc it's going to end with her getting hurt.. she didn't listen and ended getting heart broken to the point I think she kills herself in the beginning of pt. 2. And pt. 2 was her pleading to him, let me fall out of love before you break my heart by sleeping with another woman. Instead, she suffers to the point of taking her own life. The birds symbolize Abel as being a free bird, unable to commit to one person/relationship. It is kinda fucked up like you said, but he did warn her🤷‍♂️

In my head gone fits the placement and had a deeper meaning. He constantly expresses the complexity of his relationships especially with females and the type of love that is exchanged between them. As much he likes to see them come and go and is a pro at letting go he’s always wanted the type of profound passionate ‘true love’ from his perfect girl. And Valerie was willing to give him all her love in return for the same. He’s a bird so he can’t stay forever. She is desperately trying to get him to stay. Giving everything that she has. Anything she has left and he still won’t accept it. The only release for her and to also show him just how much she loved him was to kill herself because it’s better to be dead than be alive another day without him. All that passion and love or whatever is like a drug to him and now he’s on some other type level shit because it’s something he’s never had before. He’s hella high. He’s gone. In order to express just how gone he is he gets higher than a plane at this point. And as a result of him getting this high he just spits out this fire ass fucking freestyle song. Keep in mind I clearly came up with this while high.

Thursday is easily the best. I love Lonely Star, The Birds Part 2 is my favorite song, and Rolling Stone is the best song by Abel with a guitar in it. For an 8 minute song, Gone is amazing. A lot of people like The Zone too, I personally don't but it's definitely a people pleaser.
