The Sogeking song in particular's worth the watch 😂 The anime does a good job of capturing the spirit of the manga when it fleshes out certain moments.

Thank you for the update! I am very excited for the cover art of the new "The Way of Edan" edition. By the way: I nominated the 2nd and 3rd Edan trilogy books for the Ursula K. le Guin prize for fiction 2024. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it won't be to their disadvantage that they are continuations of a trilogy. The first book fell slightly out of the eligible time frame unfortunatelay. So, I hope that the judges won't fault book 2 and 3 for that and see the brilliance of the story as a whole - the longlist should be announced some time between now and October I think? I am not quite sure, but I am keeping an eye on it. ;)

Oh wow, I read Parable of the Sower a few years ago. I completely forgot about that book. I truly would recommend that to anyone looking for a Dystopian fiction book.

You've got a couple of my favourite books here! Dead Beat is definitely my favourite early Dresden - of Darkness & Light is an incredible step up for Cahill, and I absolutely loved it.

When you say you love editing, I totally get it. Part of writing, even very stream of consciousness writing, involves at least some unconscious if not conscious application of one's Editor's Eye on one's work. I find that the part of myself which edits is one of the most writerly parts of me! Always a delight to indulge that part of my brain and switch into a more editing heavy mode (which has that writer's creative spark in it just as much as writing has that Editor's Eye).

I usually like to wait at least 5 years before I reread a book, but I'm going to make an exception for the audiobook of Way of Edan. I bet it will be great. You have a lot of fun videos coming up soon! I'll definitely be watching.

Hi Dr. C. Happy Summer. I'm in a literature phase right now. I am enjoying To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf. Prior to that I read Civil War history best seller The Demon of Unrest by Erik Larson. Coming up (not certain of the order) will be ASOIAF and Hyperion by Dan Simmons. Later, The Edan Trilogy by whats-his-name.

I just read Dead Beat about a month and a half ago and didn't quite like it as much as liked the last few Dresden, but I think you will find it a nice tonal shift after Bakker because it's a much lighter read. I can't wait to hear yours and Johanna thoughts on The White-Luck Warrior. The final three books are my favorite out of the seven books.

If I may reccomend a person for a One Piece discussion, i think you would enjoy talking to Aleczandxr. He is streaming his reactions to the manga on twitch (he recently caught up), and has rewievs for every arc on his youtube chanell. I think he is a very very comprehensive reader, and I learned almost all of the stuff you talked about in your videos with A Critical Dragon. He is also just a very nice guy. Although, he isn't exactly an exclusive One Piece fan, so keep that in mind.

WLW gets a bit odd at times. But love anytime a Nonman shows up for some juicy lore. You really want to have hope but there is always this sense of impending doom that will not end well. But you do have a son who loves his mother. One of the creepiest characters I have ever read.

Have you noticed how many villians are intelligent and have degrees, ? (Dr. doom. Moriarty, Dr. Octopus, Hannibal Lecter, AP Canavan), i loved the series with AP and i'm looking forward to your OP discussions with allen and mike!!!

One piece fan here, if your looking for other youtuber fans to chat with about One Piece I recommend Joy boy Theory or Tekking101. Both are Big One Piece KZfaqrs that I think you could enjoy a conversation with on the topic.

This gives people who watch your videos the opportunity to say, "oh hey it's Thursday morning, I can pull up a video from Philip Chase." as opposed to the guess and check method

How do you refering/paying tribute to other things into your work? A little nod here and there that make the reader "woah so cool" rather than "oh my God! So cringe"?

Not a huge fan of Petrik's art direction tbh, I i think a lot of the covers hes been involved in come across as amateurish. Recent Jade legacy books look particularly garish with that middle graphic. However it would be much worse if the artists weren't that good. I wish you good luck with yours !
