I got sent a weird tool that is meant to make getting tyres on rims easier let’s find out if it actually does 🤔

For some rim and tire combos these are just a must. Especially if you don't have a spare set of hands to help you out.

You are absolutely correct. This tool is only beneficial in installing a difficult tire at home. BTW, I still need traditional tire levers to remove 700x25mm clinchers from my carbon wheels.

Works well on mtb tyres. I always take mine. Puncture resistant tires always hard to get on the rim. There a couple designs about.. the Kool stop tyre jack is smaller if space an issue. But better for narrower tires. Tire jacks save your thumbs and pinching tubes.

I have arthritis in both hands and bought one of those for £3.50 from Aliexpress and it's exactly the same as the one you've got

mine doesn't have the spring BUT mine folds down into 3 sections (like my multi tool 😂)

Spray soapy water on the bead . It makes a huge difference.

The thing is this tool isn't really for those tyres that you do by hand but because the way they are making these new rims today in conjunction with tighter tyre beads, some tyres are now almost impossible to fit. In fact you wouldn't want to have to replace a tube out on the road with some rims.

I've never come across a tyre and rim combo I couldn't actually get on with my hands. this tool just saves your thumbs

@@iconoclast5278 i used to use them tyres a lot when i used to ride fixed, can say i ever found them hard to fit

@@KeepSmilingAdventures Well lot of people moan and I suspect to it goes back to whatever rim is being used in conjunction with them; my new Pro Lite MDX are lot deeper than my previous rims. Anyway I got round the problem by carrying a velcro strap to hold one end of the tyre in place, while using a tyre lever at the other end, works a treat. Right now hawthorn hedge cutting season has just began, so the last thing you want is to be Wrassling with a tyre when you can make it easy. Hopefully they gator skins will prevent it even becoming necessary in the first place, I might even squeeze in some gunk, even though the valves do like the stuff.

Corsa Speed TLR on HED Jet rims if using an inner tube, which the tyres are advertised to work with in addition to being tubeless tyres. Different level to Gatorskin hardshells for seating toughness. Think of the permutations of tyre, tube, rim, rim tape/veloplug combinations and I think it's plausible their are at least one or two difficult combinations. I'm going to try this tool!

Yeah that would be nice but I'm not sure it would really work if it was smaller. It works well because of the added leverage. Defo a bit big to carry on rides though

This device is crap. It broke off when I was trying to seat a clincher in a Campagnolo eurus two way. First time I used it it broke And the piece hit me in the eye. Be warned! I
