I think it's also borderline bullying and cowardly to post a video publically attacking someone and then immediately blocking them so they don't have a chance to respond.

Yeah, like, across the human population...blue and green are two of the MOST POPULAR COLORS. Like, if you ask someone on the street what their favorite color is...there is a huge chance they will say either blue or green or some variation of them. Aside from cream, blue is probably one of the most popular furniture and wall colors.

Tay was definitely getting jealous. I hate it when creators are like "i dont wanna do a fake apology that i dont believe in" when her apology was pretty much by the book. @@zaliyuhyeah of course, I guess we can argue that every action we regret could be avoided if we gave it a little more thought, but now that is said and done the only option is to apologize. I also think she did a great job at recognizing her mistakes and taking accountability for them. People like you act like you've never wronged someone and had to apologize, and I think that this type of: 'if you made a mistake you can never redeem yourself in the eyes of the internet' is pretty toxic. Like a great philosopher named Hannah Montana once said: 🎶Everybody makes mistakes🎶

I think Tay was being aggressive because shes an interior designer and she wanted to protect her brand. may i introduce you to the next tiktok drama: mlmgate content creator canadiankels has been making this series tracking data from mlm boss babes in her province. it’s all completely anonymous and publicly available information, and she removes anyone from her dataset that asks to no be included or blocks her on any social media. except now the boss babes are mad at being called out for being in literal pyramid schemes and have banded together and mass reported kels to the point where she can’t post anymore. it’s wild, i’d definitely suggest looking into it because the information kels is uncovering is super valuable and shows just how manipulative and vile these mlms are! she mustn’t be silenced 😤

Maybe I was just close to my childhood girl friends but like y'all share ideas and copy each other, it's not really the same as copying someone's bizarre ideas (like truly they were *a choice* 😬) online the way the original tiktok showed. I fully missed this drama until your video (same as with most drama haha) & I don’t know who Tay is but I’ve been following Karin for a while now & I am absolutely not having this 😂 The dinos compared to monsters was such a stretch and saying the green squiggle was copied is madness when Karin used to have a pink squiggle & (I think) a yellow one in her old apartment which were paired with a giant brush and crayon. The cereal bowls are how I found Karin and she has been doing them for sooooo long. I’m sure the mirror was meant to be a completely different design (an idea she saw on Pinterest WHICH SHE SAYS IN HER VIDEO) but it messed up which is why the moss / flowers were added. Im so glad Tay apologised because what a madness. How egotistical can you be to literally have a DIY channel and then be annoyed someone is doing your DIYs? Let Karin enjoy decorating her new home in peace please and thank you P.S loved the video as always 😘

I think the issue arises from the fact they both are more or less considered "leaders," in their niche, with over a million followers, which means they see each other more as competition, rather than users/followers. A lot of stuff happens as the result of trends, undercurrent vibes, etc. So whether she did take inspiration from her or not, it is okay because it is DIY. It is not as if it were a paid-for tutorial with some unique elemental designs. Free DIY made for the purpose for people to copy and do it yourself is made for that exact purpose. I think also what played into it was how Tay presented it. Rather than say opening up a conversation, like "Hey I am not sure what to think about this, and it could be just me, but I am not sure why I am feeling the way I am," or something. What she is feeling is what many "leaders" have felt.

I said it on other videos from other commentary channels and I’ll say it again here. “I painted my room blue and green, this is an abnormal color combination.” No it isn’t. You’re not special. I painted my bedroom blue and green (almost those exact pastel shades) about two years ago now. Three walls are blue one is the green accent wall. I painted my room these colors because I was inspired by a room in a house from a short story I wrote in college for a class. I wrote that short story in the spring of 2021. Idk when this Tay girl painted her room, but if it was after the spring/summer of ‘21 I guess I did it first so- But seriously, you cannot lay claim to color combinations, I’m sorry.

I think what also is an issue with this forcefully trying to be an individual. Like in a sense that it's soley selfcentred egotism and "I'm not like everyone else, I'm better than everyone else"-attitude. I believe that Tay's apology was genuine and that she did not think this through because accusing someone of stealing is giving you attention and validation until you think about how your actions have consequences and I believe she understands now. Ofc that whole drama shouldn't have started in the first place because then you are not DIY account.

You’ll see so many quirky interior design brands selling products that cater to this aesthetic it’s literally 90s cartoon nostalgia people have been recreating interiors from their old favourite cartoons like Totally spies, winx etc and it has come as a response to the grey silver interiors that people were getting sick of.

Artists like tay r the reason non artists have this fucked up idea of what constitutes malicious copying in art. I wouldnt call myself an artist by any means but ive been an art hobbyist for a long time n ppl trying to get into art often feel like they have to be entirely original from the get go but reality is that theres no such thing as originality in art. All art is derivative n theres absolutely nothing wrong with using tools like tracing or copying for ur personal projects n an inspo shoutout is all any self respecting artist would ask for if u planned on posting. The only times blatant copying is bad is if ur making a product to be sold w little to no alterations to the original design, otherwise unless the artist has explicitly said they dont want their art being copied its free game.

Tbh though I’ve come across a couple of reels on Instagram of this style, specifically these two. It didn’t even click for me when I saw videos a while apart that it’s 2-3 different content creators that do such similar content. They merged into one thing before I looked more into their content. I feel like they all kinda need to individualise a bit more. Not necessarily that anyone is copying anyone but at the same time with such a different style it should be a little easier to make something more personal to you and differentiate your ideas.

i think it’s a good custom to follow to give credit to inspo, so if she had said “i saw tay do this project and i love it so much i want to add it to my home” would have been good, but not necessarily required. aside from that, tay blew everything out of proportion and her reaction was overblown and unnecessary

Hi interior design major here :3 I love design and have followed both of these gals for over a year. It’s soooo disappointing that Tay is bashing another creator with similar style. Art is all about inspiration, I wouldn’t have joined this career path without seeing what artists have done with it. Anyways love you and love your content:)

She shouldn’t have blocked her after making the video but I can’t lie I hate when people copy me and I hate when someone gaslights me in to thinking it’s okay for turning into me. I think Tay doing diy does makes it weird BUT SHE STARTED making content right afterwards. She took inspiration to straight copying. She started to become her not add into the genre. Idk why no one is seeing that it’s actually sad

When I was 12 (2006) I had green and blue walls in my room. So Taylor obviously copied me. 😅. Blue and green are not abnormal colors at all hahaha. So weird

The sad thing is it's not really about karinna doing the DIY's, it's her being a creator doing them and getting more views or watchers that irks Tay. Which is sad, because it's still the same as when a regular follower did them they just don't share it making them a 'rival'

I think the word you were searching for is maximalism, it's very bright, loud, lots of features and things - I definitively get why you'd feel it's too much it's not everyone's up of tea tho it is cheerful to look at in vids. But man to have such a fun house and such a nasty personality 🙃

This was my style about 16 years ago. My room was bright and had squiggles with nerdy things attached to it, like extremely similar to this style. If a friend decided to do the same room, id have been honored honestly.

Why do rich influencers think poverty-baiting is the best way to garner success and sympathy? It’s weird…

That was 100% bullying I am a part of the junk journaling & scrapbooking community & it's ALL DIY!! & I could imagine if one of the bigger creators came after me for copying them. NOW, if I plan on selling my book I will shout them out & tag them & have others check out their account. With that being said I haven't sold any yet but I tried one.. I also ask the girls if I can copy them.. I love when ppl get inspired with something I did or created. I started hobbies because of my mental health & today I am so healthy mentally & I encourage all ppl to get a hobby... ❤❤ We must support & love one another in the DIY community.. I could understand if Kaarin was making money off of tee pee bee boop, but she wasn't, she was creating a beautiful happy space for herself which is so important for our mental health...

We are all just copies of each other. A compilation of who raised us, who we associate with, and even watch. I think it’s nearly impossible to be 100% original.

Kariin wanst even wanting to do the moss mirror at first. Her first idea wasn't working so this was her backup plan. She had the line squiggles and Dino wall things in her apartment. Including the couch. This other girl needs to grow up

it's always so cool and crazy and funny to me that we all learn about the same drama from the same tweet 😭 i literally liked that as a haha a couple days ago 😭😭😭 and tbh if you don't want people to copy you don't put every inch of your diy house online as a diy with every step of the diy just saying and maybe don't copy other people's ideas over and over and over until your entire house is basically another variant of someone else's 🫶🏽 both parties seem to be at fault or not at all idk i don't care

am I off my rocker or is blue and green a completely normal colour combination?
@DaemonAsmodeus
@DaemonAsmodeus Жыл бұрын
It really is! Out of all the videos I've seen of this situation, every time she calls the combo "unique", I wanna clap back, because not only did Kaarin paint it those colors because of other people bashing her initial color choices, but I know two businesses (including the company I work for) who use that combo AND my best friend has the walls in her condo the same color scheme. XD
