What is this funky looking oversized drill and how does it work?
Yes is the same Welder I showed last week that I picked up from TEMU.
The TEMU page for this welder is currently down. Here is a link to one on Amazon:
amzn.to/3VY5oYd
IF you want a really cheap one I have tested this one out as well:
amzn.to/3JmP1Nd
You can watch that video here: • Cheap Amazon Handheld ...
We're going to test the this hand held welder and how it compares to a regular welder. Also seeing if it's worth buying and if I'm keeping it!

I bought a 45 dollar HONE brand stick welder and have been get impressed. It’s 120 amps and burns great. The he amperage it says is accurate and it’s very smooth. Burned 12 pounds of 3/32 7018 on my flatbed build and have had no problems so far

Even at a couple pounds only using that for an extended period of time, trying to be steady, it is certainly only practical for little welds, but I am impressed that it does work.

Not sure a beginner would be better off with a heavy hand-held welder with a power cord and ground lead, vs. just having to hold up a stinger with one lead.

These could be really cool. For really quick welds. After solid state batteries come out. and can be cord free or carry a battery about the size of that normal inverter welder. of course if it was the battery pack option. I would get one in the normal inverter style. I would rather have normal equipment attached to the battery.

@@non1503 Clearly a language difference. In the UK, "around the house" means inside the building. "Inside the home" has no meaning as a home is not a physical thing - it is the feeling and atmosphere you create inside the house. To encompass everything I would probably say around the property. And yes, I could use a welder right now to move the hinge brackets on my garden gate. But not this one - it looks really clumsy to use.

Ive seen people take a lithium ion polymer pack from a car jump starter and use it to stick weld. Could probly have a dual purpose emergency welder/jump starter with a little know how. It was a radio tower tech who had to climb up and down those tall towers to make repair welds that were tiny but impossible to bring a welder up the tower for. So tiny light lithium pack with the clamps it came with and he had the perfect stick welder and no longer had to make those extra trips and hoist things up and down. Plus no need for a generator or inverter

Thanks for sharing this. 1st thought that comes to mind is do I really want to hold an inverter that close to the core of my body for any extended period of time .. before someone thinks Im crazy, consider that folks with pacemakers are told to go nowhere near welding machines. 2nd thought is, why hold all that weight in hand when for around the same price I can get a cheap stick box inverter with traditional electrode holder thats much lighter. Neat concept, maybe it has some useful applications, idk, but I really do appreciate you sharing with us.

Can do that with a normal stick welder, too. They pump out ~20v, it won't shock you unless you're laying in a pool of sweat on the grounded metal plate you're welding and grab the stick with bare, sweaty hands. Even in that scenario, it's usually just an "ouch" moment unless you're inside a pipe or confined space and get stuck in contact with the grounded surface and electrode.

The number of situations where this thing might be preferable to a tiny lightweight inverter with similarly short ground and electrode cables must be few and far between.

I wonder if it will weld 1/4" plate matches on 6" pipe. It would be handy on top of silos where you have to stretch out 200 feet of lead to reach up there.

I bet if you upgraded the cords with premium wire of a heavier gauge on this it would get you a little more performance. They probably used the cheapest wires that they could get by with.

I had a Lincoln mig welder from Lowes. It definitely ran better after I put a heavier ground lead and heavy duty brass clamp on it.

I wonder, if this thing was attached to some kind of spring jointed arm on a table, like the kind of armature used for a desk lamp.... Could that take all the weight off the tool, allowing for MUCH longer use time?
@Catrik
@Catrik 6 ай бұрын
Or better yet, take something like vice grips, attach a wire to them, then connect the wire to the welder, and put the electrode in the vice grips. Do you think that would work, it would be much lighter, giving you much longer use time?
@av6728

My mod would be a zip tie around the trigger and connect an extension line from where you clamp the rod, and use that extension to hold the rod. Won't have to hold the awkward thing

could you just use one of those on off foot pedal things coupled with your zip tie method to make it more safe?

you could put a stick welder cable into that port, lock the trigger with a tiny clamp, and use the thing as a nice little portable welder. ;-)

In a pinch maybe. Stick welding isn't the best process for car repair. If you have a lot you'll want to look into a MIG setup.

Honestly would be more cool if they just made it a super compact traditional stick welder. Get rid of the handle and stuff and it could be the size of a brick.

You can buy them from almost every place that sells weldeing machines. This "handheld" welder has literally no excuses to exist because the same sized welder with normal leads is better in every situation.
