OMG, this was actually really well done. It’s amazing what editing can do. Billy Zane was excellent. Both actors were good actually and nice atmosphere.

This really reinforces my want for Billy Zane to have even a small role in the upcoming show. The flow and pacing are so much better when all of the waffle is cut out. Great job team!

@@TheDustyWheel I think Rahvin is too serious. What I enjoy of BZ's performance is his arrogance and boasting. How he's smiling until he finally says /Kinslayer/ and twists that knife. If I had to choose a Forsaken, I'd say BZ would have a ton of fun as Sammael!

Am I the only one who thinks Zane’s acting is cringeworthy in the extreme? It would be lovely for him to have a brief cameo in the TV show as an Easter egg for the fans, but dear god, I can’t suffer through him butchering the lines of a serious character.

@@jamiecare1042 I think both actors knew what Winter Dragon was, and Zane hammed it up and had some fun. I will say even though I like Zane's performance better, when he says that they'll fight, "until time dies and the Shadow is victorious," is probably the worst delivered line of the bunch. Like they only got a few takes to do this and even though he fumbled the line, they used it anyway.

I always pronounced it Shy-tan. Hearing it as Shay-Tan felt odd. It's always interesting when you find out a word you decided to pronounce one way while reading is actually pronounced a different way.

@@johnnyp6202 its actually more a chinese base, than a japanese base, but both those languages have a root origin with each other, so not a surprise. But i always read it as Shai Tan.

@@thecaracarn6544 Nice bit of Trivia! Fully understand my mental pronunciation was off, did not make it sound any less odd though heh. It also did throw me off because the narrators for the wheel of time books (which I think Jordan worked with in the beginning on how to pronounce things), do not pronounce it Shay-tan but instead Shy-tan. Two wrongs don't make a right, but hearing shy-tan will always be odd to me.

I absolutely loved the cut. you did SUCH a great job working with the original material! you took something that fell flat for many people and managed to kick it up 2 or 3 notches. I had chills watching this. I was SO much more emotionally invested in LTT and i hate Ishameal so much more!!! Well done!!! thank you so much!!!

Apparently the Sun in the 2nd Age was black, didn’t know that, wonder what the Aes Sedai did to fix that? The original producers couldn’t afford a Blond Wig for the actress playing Ilyana? Great job on the edit guys, definitely an improvement on the original,

This is much better than the original pilot. With that said, I still think it's longer than it needs to be. I think the entire scene could have been done in four minutes.

That was a massive improvement...now, with a better Lews and Ilyena, better scenery and costume, and special effects to show travelling and the creation of Dragonmount...it could actually work if cut the way you did it! I actually thought Billy Zane was pretty good given what he was working with...

The only problem with GOT is pacing and some plot holes. And that would require shooting and extending them into full seasons of 10 apiece and probably at least one more full season.

I went back and watched the original, I should say tried I kept fast forwarding. The pacing was so much better. The main parts of the scene are still there, the tension is higher. I liked the ending gets you ready for another episode. What is he going to do? I would like to see what you could do with the original takes. 😂. Great job.

And at the end I literally had tears in my eyes. Now I have to come back to the real world again sadly, in search for a new fantasy series to get my teeth in :)

Why the new series didn't open with a version of this sequence?! The realisation that it was he who murdered his kin...the everlasting Kinslayer title is what people fear 3000 years later. None of this was captured by the show, shame!

This was fantastic!!! Wow. The power of great editing can elevate every aspect of this original pilot. And truthfully, the actors who played both Lews Therin and especially Ishamael had both enhanced and had their performances enhanced by this cut. Wonderful work!!

I'm actually a big fan of billy zane's performance here and this edit does a good job showcasing him. I'm still kind of hoping for a billy zane ishamael for seasons 1 and 2. They can get someone else to play moridin though

I've been wondering the same thing. I honestly expect that if we see it it won't be until at least the second or third season though. They're going to want to establish the characters in the present as quickly as possible to draw in the non-reading audience.

The original had more filler padding the runtime than a 10 minute KZfaq video. Ironically it became better as a 10 minute KZfaq video.

Okay, this is the first I’m seeing of a Wheel of Time show, and I absolutely love the series. I’m still rereading the last two books in the bathroom. Of all the characters in the series, I identify with Mat the most, as a Marine veteran. Even though I don’t have the memories of past warriors, I’ve studied military strategy and tactics since I was in elementary school. My seventh grade book report was in The Art of War by Sun Tsu, way back in the eighties. That was one of the things I enjoyed most about this series; Mr. Jordan being a graduate of the Citadel War College, all of the tactics and strategies were authentic. I’ve got to ask; is this an actual thing, or is it a fan-made production?

So it's not *entirely* the acting's fault. That's actually ok. Now, I'm not saying it's good, but if these actors had the opportunity to have a few more takes for their lines.... I get the feeling the production team got ONE passable take for each line and said, "Good enough!" Give these guys a little more time to fine-tune their performances though...

While it still suffers from the inherent flaws of the source (clunky dialogue and pacing, mainly), this is a MASSIVE improvement. Excellent work! I was excited enough for the new show already, now it's so much more! Light, I cannot wait to start seeing new footage!

Wow this is a massive improvement! It highlights that we cannot life the dialogue right off the page. Jordan's writing is great to read but it's quite clunky when delivered by actors.

Ugh - 5:14 in - I can just see Zane looking off to the side like "What's the line again?" He sounds more like a scholar discussing the endless turnings of the Wheel than his more insane self later. And even if that might be fairly accurate - I don't like it. LOL Good job with the cut though! I didn't hate it! LOL

Nathan Thrush - We had to use a fan copy that was on KZfaq, and it had a few jerky moments like that, where we still wanted the particular moment without cutting and couldn’t avoid it. I wish we had a real copy to work with. That would have been cool.

Only thing I didn't like was the ending made it feel like LTT was really thinking about going over . . . . his begging for forgiveness could have been for choosing Shaitan. Still, nice job making that sh!t show much more effective.

Not too awful, but would never be able to stand alone... there is no hook to draw you in, just a Shakespeare like reverie in the mind of a madman.

Even in the book, this scene was never meant to stand alone. It's simply a prologue (quite literally, if memory serves; it's the prologue of book 1) before delving into the actual story. You're not really supposed to know what's going on here, because that's all revealed later. Right after this scene, that's when you'd get the main title credits and beautiful, intricate graphic map with a score that seems medieval in composition before meeting the main character on a dusty, well-traveled country road...

I agree about a Shakespeare like reverie. And I don't particularly care for it as the chosen tone, but the editing is well done

@@Bad_Wolf_Media it needs to start panning well before it reaches Tam Al'thor's cloak, following a gust of wind as it rides down the mountains of mist and into the westwood.
