On Nov 2-3, 2013, The U.S. Army Orchestra and The U.S. Army Band Downrange combined to present a tribute to that iconic British rock band, The Who, at Brucker Hall on historic Fort Myer, Virginia. Video produced and edited by MSG Les Owen.

Beautiful - made me emotional. Wish the drummer had been given a bit more licence though. Lots of good Keith Moon fills missing.

As a big Who fan who saw their Quadophenoa tour in 96, an Entwistle following bass player, and an Army Reserve Band Commander…I am in awe! 👍🏼

As a fan of The Who, and the U.S Army, this is fantastic...Love seeing them in their dress uniforms, and seeing a younger generation interpret this music, love it!

This is imo one the best rendition ot the Tommy Overture out there. I'm impressed with the arrangement and with the musicianship of all the members of the band. Impeccably executed.

Got to be honest I presumed I'd hate this but actually I found it very moving. 1921 is a classic piece of Townsend and such a strong song. Tommy will go down in history as one of the great pieces of song writing. Thanks for posting.

Absolutely beautiful!!! My band actually toured with The Who off and on during '68 - '70 (actually as the occasional opening band!) and we got to see all the many variations of their tunes over those years. This is simply stunning. Terry

Awesome performance. Didn't know what to expect going in but loved the whole concert. Always looking for different interpretations of Who tunes and this was one of the best ever. Too bad it wasn't in front of a more appreciative audience.

I am past being impressed. When I was a 10 YO kid I h1jacked this album from my sister and listened start to finish, every note and chord I know. To see the U. S. Army band take up this project is SUPER cool. Pete Townsend is very proud, I'm sure.

The fact that Military personnel are playing this is amazing. War is a horrible thing. How many “Tommys” might exist? Many I suspect. Vietnam? Afghanistan? Ukraine? Russia? Wonder how many? Much respect to these talented performers. Tommy is an Opera. I would love to see a modern staging where Captain Walker is a Gulf, Vietnam or Afghan war veteran.

No, the father comes back unexpectantly from the war and slays the lover, who had taken his wife in his absence. He, the boy's father is the one who sings, "I had no reason to be over optimistic, but somehow when you smile, I can brave bad weather." Because he was assumed dead.

The keyboardist comes off a little 'contrived' The bass player is 'feeling ' 'it' I remember when the drums were a timepiece, to keep the rhythm of the music for the band, and then at some point it became an instrument in it's own right. Keith Moon was one of the reasons. Nowadays, it's both, and that's difficult. he pulled it off here. BRAVO!

I’m sure Pete has lots to say about the military, but it’s hard to take someone who downloaded CP and claimed Zeppelin ripped him off with any bit of respect.
