On Nov 2-3, 2013, The U.S. Army Orchestra and The U.S. Army Band Downrange combined to present a tribute to that iconic British rock band, The Who, at Brucker Hall on historic Fort Myer, Virginia. Video produced and edited by MSG Les Owen.

I came across this series of videos of the performance by accident and was immediately drawn in by the enthusiasm of the singers and the tight band performance. As an orchestral version of these Who songs it was exciting and dynamic throughout. The audience seems to have been family and friends and some retirees and so not the rock attendees you would think the music would attract. However I loved the enthusiasm of the female singers and the great work of the drummer - spot on.

Well said, The Who`s music deserves to be listened by people who dig it. this lot were ready for their hot chocolate drink before bed time. it was totally lost on them....lol.

That drummer was no Keith moon, bassist no Entwistle. Bad copies, nothing more. No passion. No anger. Without those two emotions, Who music isn't.

The lead guitarist was so serious and restrained for the whole show, it would have been great to see him do the leap and knee-slide across the stage at the finale.

Good job! It's tough to convert a rock song that absolutely everyone knows note-for-note into a big band sound. Hey, producer! Put the f'n camera on the guitar player during the guitar solo... 'cause the dude's good.

I saw the The Who at SD in 1989 and Pete had his right hand bandaged up from catching it on the whammy bar while doing the "windmill". He still sounded great though!

as a who fan, I'd say it was good. They screwed up the lyrics on the second half of verses 2 and 3, but a really great orchestra and band arrangement. Plus I thought it was *very* appropriate to have a Les Paul play the bridge!

A fine performance, but there is some irony in it being performed by the US Army given that Pete Townshend wrote the song is a criticism of revolution and power.

No, just no. This is just not a good arangement of this song. Doesn't rock hard enough. Also it has brass and strings, something that The Who would have lit on fire BEFORE the song because that's not rock and roll.
