I saw The Who when I was 21, in 1989 in Raleigh. It was the first rock concert I went to where the band had a horn section as well as backup singers. I immediately realized this only added to their sound and energy after my initial skepticism. They have consistently chosen awesome musicians and singers to join them. Long live The Who!

I'm pretty sure I was at that show, it was outdoors. It wasn't really The Who, but more like The Who Review, you know, very professional but no longer dangerous like in the old days.

That’s a good way of putting it! I would have loved to see them maybe in the early 70s. @@robertkees6048

Due to their hearing problems, they do more of an unplugged show. Their hearing can no longer tolerate screaming guitars. Fir guts in their 70's it is pretty good. I hope to be playing at that age. In my band we have a 75 year old vocalist, 69 year old bassist and I am 61 on drums. Keep on rocking in the free world.

Wasn’t Townshend on the sex offenders register for 5 years in 2003 ?

Not sure, I believe he was looking at abused children , he said he was looking at the abuse out of compassion and was unaware or at least didn't consider the legal implication . I believe he is a good guy , not a perv.

@rupe534 ай бұрын
probably extra monitor mix because Pete is profoundly deaf these days.
@hfhifi68784 ай бұрын
He's not deaf: he has tinnitus. His hearing improved partially because of operations as well as playing in front of that plexiglass shield. Rock musicians are far more likely to use in ear monitors than stage monitors these days.
@rupe534 ай бұрын
@@hfhifi6878 You mentioned operations and the only thing I came up with was a LONG break from touring, where his tinnitus seemed to get somewhat better. He's been wearing hearing aids for ages, along with Roger doing the same. As for those plexiglass panels, they are fairly common when trying to keep stage volume low, which is another reason to use in-ear monitors or local monitors instead of the typical wedge monitors. They also make life easier for the guy running the mixing board, because there's less sound bleeding between the various mics on stage.

In the entertainment industry -- you always end up finding out which performers made financial plans for the future......and which ones need to use fans as a financial bailout.
@rupe534 ай бұрын
@@richardcoreno in entertainment, it's probably more about the dozens of support staff who are not old enough to retire. Think about how many personal assistants, managers, tour organizers, etc who are on payroll because these guys get a million bucks a show. Even some kid has a job as an usher at venue because these guys keep working. Think about the wasted real estate before someone got the idea to put rock N roll in stadiums! It's all good.

Townsend,who as we know,wrote 99% of the songs,so gets all the royalties,so Daltrys income,other than he’s fish farm,earns from touring.
