I enjoyed this convo 103 %. This discussion confirms that I want to seek enchantment rather than the propositional. I see Christ in every little natural thing without pantheism. Thanks for talking these things out.

Hello, also a shepherd and farmer, in Washington state. Without fully knowing what I mean, I have been saying that my sheep have been revealing Christ to me. I have wondered if anyone else would ever know what I am talking about. Thanks for this, I can see that I am not so alone.

Hello! I know exactly what you mean. I know what you mean by “my sheep revealing Christ to me” and I also know the feeling of thinking your alone in it! So great to hear from you and also from the other shepherdess. We live quite solitary lives, it great to hear how the Holy Spirit works in all our lives! I’m grateful for your comment simply because I think it’s amazing to see how God works! 🙏

@@shari6063 Yes, it is difficult to describe, to see God's love over-spilling in all directions. Such abundance, even in seasons of scarcity and death. And watching my sheep watch me, I see how to live in this abundance (including death, which I sometimes bring) through them without being overwhelmed by it. This is where they have always lived. Of course, they are following Christ, calling Him forth in me, but in truth I am following Him in them. Thank you for responding. I dont always know what to do with this, or if its there's value in talking about at all.

@@TF-ec5uj it is really refreshing to me to hear you talk about this. This gets to the innate “aloneness” of the farmer. Everything you said in this last comment I completely resonate with. I also struggle with how to talk about it and if I should talk about it. It feels to me that now is a better time than any to share our experiences at least. Most people think “it’s cute”, not realizing how much of death and life passes through our hands. How we feel the weight of this curse and how we too begin to share in the groaning and waiting of Creation. I’m very grateful just knowing that you are out there. If you feel like talking about this, I would be interested in hosting a conversation with anyone else who has these experiences as a farmer.

@@shari6063 Very well put, Shari. We live at death's gate. This is true for most choices we make, its just hidden from us in many ways. I need not "feel the weight of the curse" if I dont want to, but then I also miss the weight of the glory. For me it is a necessary calling, living face to face with living (and dying). Otherwise I tend to lose my way. I would love to hear how others experience this.

@@TF-ec5uj wonderful. I’ll see if I can make something happen along this wavelength. Perhaps a livestream, and if you feel so inclined you could jump in spontaneously. I think it’s time for people with these sensibilities to step out of their hidden lives, if only for a moment, and share some of the wisdom and lessons God has been teaching them. I’ll probably just keep you posted through this comment thread. Thank you.

The Theotokos -- brings us in touch with the earth and through her relationship to Jesus heaven as well. Yes! Most just don't understand this especially in Protestant America. The war on nature is like going to war against our own mother.

I just listened to both of your conversations. As an Orthodox deacon (OCA) and a convert since 1988, I am so impressed with the maturity and insight of your thoughts as recent members of the Church. Both of you may not be using the correct terminology, but your understanding of what the Christian church is about (to act & speak as mediator and priest on behalf of creation or the vulnerable) and its failure (to communicate the human story of returning back to Eden) is to the point. The two of you may not have used the words I used, but that is how I interpreted and applied your dialogue. A final point: the key or medicine for spiritual growth, in the Orthodox church, is HUMILITY in all things. Both of you exemplify this. This will go a long way and keep you on your [heroes] journey. Please, continue what you are doing. You are on the right path. Deacon Joseph Diocese of the West

“First love” as love of the child & love of the earth is HUGE. Who fosters that love? Moms mostly. Dads too, but mom teaches dad how to care like that. Thinking of the lioness that introduces her young to the father carefully… so they may be accepted - Edit: accepted into the *pride.*

To me its like Adam in the garden, no man officiated the wedding of Adam and Eve, no rings were needed, but it was a heart contract, seen by YHWH, and also the comb and scissors were not invented, and they were like trees walking in the mountain garden.

I've always felt that our broken relationship to the world is the direct result of the unfortunate genesis story. God baits Adam and Eve with a fruit. Why ? Testing their obedience . Then when they take the bait he curses them . If you look closely at that curse in its individual parts you can see that it's all really about the ruination of relationship . It's an ugly story about a narcissistic diety and it has poisoned so much .

Excellent interview ! @shari6063 is it possible to chat with any of you guys? Myth and Christianity especially in regards to the underworld is something I'm interested in talking about, as well as so much more. Thanks so much. (In case you've received two messages I tried leaving a message before and I think it got deleted.)
