Years: 1963-1971 (their show was on until 1974 for 11 seasons), Loretta Lynn left in the middle of season 9 (1971-1972)... upon googling archives, her last episode taped with them was in July 1971 with Tex Ritter as the guest... on The Wilburn Brothers Show.
She loved them like family. They managed her for 10 years, she gained her popularity due to this show and the Grand Ole Opry. I decided to pick out non singles of hers that were my favorites that she performed on the Wilburn Brothers Show. They had very fun times on the weekly Saturday night show *they would tape several shows throughout the week and several a day for the season, when it moved from Nashville to Memphis TN. So she wasn't traveling to Memphis and back every Saturday night. Yes, it ended badly, with a lawsuit, but she said in her last book she still wouldn't have made it without their help in the early years. You need to read her books all the way to 2020's release "Me and Patsy: Kickin' Up Dust" and her second autobiography "Still Woman Enough" in 2002... she couldn't say as much in her "Coal Miner's Daughter" book from 1976, about the Wilburn Bros, because the lawsuit was still going on. I'm thankful they helped get her started though and made a deal with producer, Owen Bradley, or we wouldn't have these memories now. Read her books if you haven't. These shows hold great memories for her fans to watch and enjoy. It allows her legacy and music to live on. For this compilation video, of The Wilburn Brothers Show, I chose my favorite songs, which weren't released as singles, she wrote, and some that were remakes of songs released by other country music artists.
16 songs. I originally picked 15, but that extra one I just couldn't leave out. I loved her personality so much, in that she would just cut up and be herself. It didn't matter if she messed up the lyrics or the timing, that's what made me love her even more. Perfection is so overrated. These old clips make me smile and laugh so much. It starts with a clip of Teddy Wilburn holding her twins in the swing, they were around age 3, in 1967, and it was too cute not to include. Loretta had such a pleasant singing and speaking voice.
