The Wild West: Independent, Disorganized, Baseball

I've had a strange obsession with independent baseball for the longest time. It's culminated in this, my senior project. Please keep in mind that this was made by a full time student in about a month and a half.
The footage and images not procured by the video creator that are featured in the video were for educational use, which is protected under the Fair Use laws of the United States Copyright Act of 1976.

St. Paul, FM RedHawks, Winnipeg and Sioux city are the building blocks of indie baseball

That walk off at the beginning.. I’ve never heard of those teams, those players nor do I have any stakes in that game. Yet, that walk off homer gave me chills. Just like if it was knocked out of Yankee Stadium by Aaron Judge. Baseball is universal. I fucking love this game.

Little known fact, Bill Murray also owns a small portion of the Charleston Riverdogs. The low A team for the Yankees. The more you know 👍🏻💯

The Pecos League has recently expanded and is now in California. One of the teams is in my town. The Martinez Sturgeon just finished their inaugural season and I went to a few games. They were all good, competitive games and fun to watch. Looking forward to seeing the team and league grow. Hopefully it sticks. I really dug how the team passed a hat around when a player hit a HR and when a pitcher struck out the side. Thanks for sharing this video it helped give me more insight on how independent ball works.

Great job! Great to watch in 2020 when Independent leagues are still wanting and willing to play "for the love of the game"... and allow fans to attend! Go Redhawks!

Today was the first time I've heard of the Independent league. My son told me about it and said to look on KZfaq to learn about it. Your video was great and very helpful, my son is looking into this now for himself and it looks pretty good! I wasn't sure at first, can't believe I've never heard of it, but I really like it, hopefully can catch some games! Any suggestions on teams to go watch within a 4-5 hours drive of Las Vegas?

There are several independent leagues, with varying levels of play. The best are on the east coast and Midwest. Out your way, you have the very low rung Pecos League and a league in California.

Really good video! Interesting now that the St. Paul Saints are a Triple A team, and no longer independent.

Thanks Indy Leagues...I radio announced in one for two clubs, and worked the P.A. mic. for another, and thanks indy teams, too. My late Dad played for one in an affiliated league in the 1950's.. INDIES INDEED!!...
