Buy a car they say, winters will be fun they say. Well, it is not all sunshine and rainbows with all this winter camping and trying to shake the winter struggles and longing for a new motorcycle season. Thankfully everyday is getting brighter and there is a constant flow of really great motorcycle videos on the screen.

A very honest and cozy video Tjommi. Saw some Tjommijuice (Viking Champagne) and... a very cool watch! Just go for ut Tjommi, insulate the car and open up a vent on one of the reardoors. A smaller dieselheater under the car with air to the rearcompartment does wonder.
@tshansen
@tshansen 6 ай бұрын
Thank you Tjommi, yeah... you have much more experience on this field than I do, and a diesel heater is absolutely something I'm investigating closer and how I can fit it. The Webasto heaters is really expensive, so it is all a tradeoff and how much I will use it. Yeah, Tjommi justice is important you know 😂 the one who know, knows 😂 I really love the watch, and it fits so well under the jacket even when wearing gloves. 🤌🏻

I see you have roofracks on the van. If you're not wanting to change the van, what about putting the van into a sleeping bag of its own ( a special tent ). Make a rooftent-type structure that has the ability to fold out into a peaked roof, and also has roller-blind type awnings for the sides. The roof peak made of light components, with two or three inch polystyrene lining, will be a measure of insulation. When driving, the structure folds up hinged. When camped, the hinged panel braced, and locked to form a peak. You could also place other insulation on the van roof below the peak roof Then add side tarpaulins to roll down on all 4 sides, - the one in front of the windscreen to flap down on either side of the vehicle, and if aiming for ultimate warmth, the side panels can also have similar insulation. It will go a long way to making it habitable, and you can remove the whole structure (similar to a roof tent) when not on camping trip. Make draught excluder fittings to help the door seals. Make polystyrene or reflectix inserts to fit into the window frames, and get a heat reflective cover for the windscreen. Be sure to cover the airvent grills with insulation. Oh, and put a rubber yoga mat under your self inflating mattress, else the van's core is making the air inside that mattress freezing, and this transmits to you.
@tshansen
@tshansen 6 ай бұрын
I have been looking at roof tents, and seen many great variations of it, but there is one huge drawback for me, except the condensation and heating situations. But also that you need to rig up and down every time you want to ride the car. So when you set camp, you set camp. That will not work for mine kind of trips and plans right now. As i can see, but it is many great options, so i may change my mind after doing this for a while. I have “yoga” mats between the metal and wooden floor, and then a carpet, and my air mattress is insulated so there is no cold getting trough there.

@tshansen
@tshansen 6 ай бұрын
But do they put the amount of salt on the roads like they do here? It eats up the bike like crazy. And I really don't enjoy riding bikes when the temp drops below 5 degrees celcius. It is just too cold for the face and hands.
@buckymoto1784
@buckymoto1784 6 ай бұрын
@@tshansen Yes we still get Salted roads, but they don't salt everyday. For instance we had 3" of snow 3 weeks ago. They salted for 2 days the rain came and washed the snow away so they stop. Then no salt for 3 weeks. Then it was zero deg last week they salted 1 night. Whilst we do get salt the rain we get tends to wash it away over a few days.. I always winter protect my bikes with ACF-50 or XCP. Last 2 winters I've used ACF-50, but next year I'm trying xcp as I've seen even better results and protection from it.

@@VaeskeForge Yeah, bike is without a doubt the best way of exploring Norway, but do consider that the weather can be constantly changing. A motorcycle channel that publishes in the winter... in Norway :) Awesome! Regarding the camping setup - You should consider a rooftop tent (this way You will have space in the car for motorbike + good tent doesn't condensate) + webasto type of heater. Look forward to more videos.

@tshansen 6 ай бұрын
Yeah, and imagine no motorcycle 😂 Adventure for me Is so much more than just motorcycle alone, and I want to slowly show that you can do more than just motorcycle travels. Not sure if the audience will love it, but you have to try. When it comes to camping there is always a tradeoff. I have been looking at roof tents for a while, but there are two downsides with them, condensation and you need to rig up and down every day if you want to use the car to get around. My car is still too small for my motorbike, but for my e-mtb it is perfect. I have a webasto in this car, but just for heating the engine. There is a slightly possibility that I will upgrade the car in a couple of years. Depends on how much I find myself using it. Much more to come, 🤩🎥

@@tshansen I believe that the XC70 are 187cm in the luggage area when the back seat is down, so it’s long enough for me with some extra space. 😁 pros and cons?

01:55 in and I see "Systembolaget": What the hell?? Are you in Sweden, or are you just over on "our" side to get some cheap jungle juice or decent beers?

HAHAHA.... jungle juice is way better on our side, you need to take a road trip trough Hardanger 😇 I was over at the motorcycle show in Sweden. So I camped at the parking lot before I continued all the way to Stockholm 😇

Her er vel kanskje treverk(ramme) beste løsningen?
