You don't understand? It clearly wasn't woke enough. The "diversity" in the towns on the show is some of the most absurd looking world building I've ever seen. They may as well threw in some people in wheelchairs at that point it was so far gone. It was as ridiculous as the black elves and Indian female dwarfs in rings of power.

Firstly, the original cycle of novels does not sufficiently correspond to the modern “agenda”. Well, secondly, these no-name showrunners have an undeservedly high opinion of their “talents.” They, who had not composed anything successful in their lives, for some reason imagined that they were able to “improve” a masterpiece.

Him not taking the ,5 seconds to kill him and then spend the next weeks hunting him down was less amazing.

​@@mylex817 Geralt wanted to interrogate him to figure out who he was working for. That makes sense since by the time Geralt finds him again, he kills him immediately, but by then Geralt had figured out who the mastermind was so he didn't need him anymore. In fact, that's Geralt's first line after slicing his head off, almost an explanation of why he just insta-killed a dude he previously intended to interrogate.

@@lll9107 the issue is that in this episode, they literally state that they want to trick him and kill him. And beside that, letting this very dangerous man go, just because you hope that maybe you will be able to find and defeat him again and then be able to interrogate him seems very illogical to me. Even more so, as it's not clear at that point what benefit it would bring them to find the mastermind - for all they know, almost every faction on the continent is hunting them anyway.

@@mylex817 They must have figured out their own plot hole and tried to patch it, in that case, I did not recall Geralt stating his desire to kill him. Geralt's comment immediately after slicing his head off does clearly suggest he intended to interrogate him about his master but no longer needed to. I understand it is illogical IRL but generally speaking, there are some small allowances that can be made in highly fictionalized worlds. Even Tolkien's "why didn't they just fly there?" hole can be patched up by in-world explanation that don't make sense IRL. Why not just kill a dangerous dude? Because he is Geralt, he IS the danger. He has routinely not killed dangerous things immediately for other purposes.

@@lll9107 I do agree that it's not a huge plot hole. It's just that in the new season, there are so many inconsistencies that could have been easily fixed without changing the story by much. As in this scene, just place the guy away from the portal, and maybe put an obstacle in the way, so that geralt would have to spend some a few seconds to get to him. Imo the quality of writing just dropped a lot since season 1.

@@attila2246 I think it's more of a director's mistake, than the writers. They could have had him not sitting there right along the way to the portal and further away from the sword. For example, if the portal on the right side of screen and have the dude right by the pillar, so that Geralt would have go out of his way to finish him.

From what I watched, the more or less original story corresponds to the story about Pavetta and Yozh and about the Butcher from Blaviken. The entire Yenifer line and 90% of Ciri's line are invented by the showrunners.

Aard in the books were meant to just keep your enemies lose balance with a gush of wind not to blow them to kingdom come like in the games lol same with Quen. They are handy spells but not as strong as a sorcerer's version of it. They got the witcher signs accurate at the very least.

They want to include him in such scenes because that's how they think the way of creating ''growth'' for such a character

Yeah, but they fall into the same old trope that so many shows/movies do that ruins the fight scenes, namely, the armor here is just a costume, it never has any impact on a fight at all.

Because they're mixing things up. They're using two entirely different chapters in the books, mixing them on to say they're loyal to the source material This fight was supposed to be between Yarpen Zigrin's group guarding the caravan of King Henselt's aid to Temeria, and a bunch of Scoiatel gangs attacking. Geralt accompanies Yarpen's caravan with Ciri and Triss and at Shaerewedd, they were attacked. This fight is very tragic and sad, Geralt despises fighting squiatel and he would never help Yarpen and the others if Ciri's life wasn't on the line. It was a scene of how brothers are getting to eachother's throats because of propaganda and unrest. It also depicted how young elves followed Ailerenn to war 200 years ago, and thus comdemning their race to utter annihilation in so doing. Rience wasn't even in there, Geralt sets up a trap against Rience at Oxenfurt, with the help of Jaskier, Shani and Philippa Eilhart. And brutalises the Rience and his rackateers in a horrific fashion., which teaches Rience a valuable lesson on not to pick up fights against witchers, who wield runed blades that deflects spells cast at them and can murder people like butchering pigs. In the books, Geralt is a very violent man, someone whom you really shouldn't fuck with.

Yeah, I hate when the hero will mercilessly slaughter a dozen guards or thugs, but then decides to show mercy to the real evil boss. WTF?
