I wonder, why specifically are women not allowed to become priests? I have met wonderful women priests and criminal men priests before. The first woman to ever exist, Eve, was made out of the first man to ever exist, Adam. Women and men are made of the same thing. Technically, women are an extension of men, therefore, by extension women should become priests as well.

I'm sorry. You don't have it right at all. Jesus did not at all "lay hands" on male followers. Jesus did not 'establish' a church. The honor goes to Paul -- who never even knew Jesus personally. Not only was Jesus a practicing Jew, no one believed that Jesus was God when Jesus was alive. No one believed that Jesus had risen from the dead after he died. The Gospels (and there were MANY Gospels) weren't begun to be written down until after Paul completed all his Epistles (approx 70 AD), and some Catholic NT experts think that The Gospels weren't begun to be written down until 100 AD -- about 70 years after Jesus died. It is thought (by some) that The Gospels that we have today were written to coordinate with Paul's Epistles. Oh -- and The Gospels were not written by Matthew, Mark, etc. They are thought to have been written by "The Community of Matthew", etc. Even if The Gospels had begun to be written down in 70 AD, it is thought that Matthew, Mark, etc., were already dead by 70 AD. ONE LAST THING: One of the reasons that only men are Apostles is because women, in Jesus' time, weren't even considered fully human. And let's go back to the foundation: no one -- to date -- has ever proven that a God even exists (I think one does -- one that is beyond our comprehension -- however, I owe my belief that there is a God to all the science courses that I took in college -- in my 40s -- I do not owe it to The Church -- not by a long shot). The teachings of Christ are what is to be studied and followed, not the dogma of the hierarchy of the church. Mary Magdalene was Jesus’ most evolved follower. Jesus lived in a time when women were 2nd class citizens. Jesus himself did not take on that philosophy. It’s taken society 2000 years to come as far as we have: which is still not full equality, especially within the Catholic Church. Other denominations are head and shoulders ahead of the Catholic Church.

Even when those who don't reconcile with his church, remain in a state of grace and follow his will, will still curse God as they burn for all eternity, God will still be thinking of them. We separate ourselves from God when we sent him/ won't forgive our brothers/deny him/support and condone sexual immorality/abortions/ liars/and refuse to defend him as saviour and Lord.

Maybe sexual violations of young children and woman would decrease with women in the position of the Priests… just sayin’ I was raised Catholic, married and converted to the Lutheran faith. Our daughter attended seminary and is a Deacon and a very hard working deacon with a family. There was a time when men ruled everything. It appears the good old boys club does not want women as an equal. Then they no longer have absolute power. Believe me. There are some older male members that would be more comfortable without female Lutheran Pastors. One male member of the congratulation said to my female Lutheran pastors while pointing to her pregnant tummy, “I hope you are going to be able to cover that up!” Oh, he said that to the wrong pastor whose husband is also a Lutheran pastor. She made a formal complaint to the church council.

Was not Dr. Martin Luther a good churchman at one point? Of course he was! He just got sick of the corruption and bullshit that was going on in the Catholic church at that point. In a way I can see why he left. I'm not surprised the Protestant Reformation occurred.

Ummm, those are denominations... not full on other religions. Also, most protestant denominations don't allow women to be priests, which is quite sad since how someone was born is able to determine if they are eligible to become a priest or not. I have met intelligent women who cannot become priests because they are women, but I have also met pedo***** men who were able to become priests with no issues whatsoever, how the way this boggles the mind. People dismiss women all the time, overall it seems like women don't have nearly as much say in the church as men do, even though women can be just as insightful and as good as men. For a long time when I was little, I wanted to become a priest. I am sad that all of my friends who are girls who want to become priests someday are not allowed to become priests. :(

@@bagobeans I heard someone say that women can't become deacons either, which makes this whole debate even worse. Even if I wanted to become a priest still, I would not be able to. I don't think this is an issue of whether women can become priests or not, at this point it becomes a question of if women should get the same respect as men. Even if it was 100% confirmed and agreed upon that women should not become priests, there would definitely still be people out there who ignore women and laugh at everything they say just because they cannot get into a respectable position like priest. I am very sad as you can probably tell.

Anthony, from my point of view they are not listening to Satan, nor are they persecuting the church. All these women want to be is members of the priesthood. And no matter how much the Holy Father tries to close the door in their face I think that these women in the Roman Catholic women priests movement, will continue to grow in numbers. Do you know what happens when enough people are pushing up against a door? Let me tell you this... The door eventually gives way or is broken down. Now don't take this to mean that I am rejecting God and by that I mean our heavenly father, or his son Jesus, or their companion the Holy Spirit. I will never turn my back on God, and I will certainly never stop being Christian. And I will try to remain Catholic if I at all can. But The Church must adapt. Eventually we may have to dispense with what is said by Timothy, and with certain parts of canon law. Otherwise I fear we may have another schism, in this case the American wing of the Catholic Church breaking away from Rome.
