Tania Njeimer is a Dutch national who for some reason decided to join the FARC.. you failed to mention that. She talks about Colombian society as if she was forced to live that reality…. The whole thing was like that. The interviewer made it seem like life in the jungle was hell, and then when interviewing the last woman who describes how she was told she HAS to wear heels, and to act like a 'woman' the interviewer is just like 'do you think integration is hard?' The woman goes on to say she misses the jungle, and its clear shes not a fan of how she was lied to... The interviewer just ignores all that and just has softball questions. idk this was hard to watch from a subjective frame of mind. One thing about the wider picture and the peace process missed by this report is the Positivos Falsos scsndal. Thousands of innocent Colombians killed by the military on suspicion of being linked to FARC, just like that. If FARC has fought brutally in the past it is partly in response to how brutal and ruthless the Colombian Military has been, a military supported by American funds no less.

It's incredible how people expect everyone in a revolutionary movement to be able to talk or do a discourse about political theory... most people can't do this and this is fine. The 20 years old girl doesn't need to understand the minutiae of theory, she doesn't need to fully grasp Marxist concepts, because she is living it. She witnessed oppression and class struggle, she is enduring it. She is taking part in a movement and learning as she goes. This is natural. Imagine if we asked every Christian about Trinitarianism doctrine. How many Christians would be able to talk about it? Is someone less of a believer (or a lesser Christian) for not knowing about the Trinitarianism doctrine? How many people in a capitalist society could talk meaningfully about market-oriented economies? How many would only look like they are parroting propaganda or coach-talk? Especially because, for a Marxist, what one thinks (their thoughts) is secondary to what one does (their actions). Action begets thought. Following Pascal: you don't pray because you believe, you believe because you pray.

I've always loved Vice Content but this interviewer felt like she had an agenda to sustain, she barely mentions "El Plan Colombia" and barely mentions the true scope of the class system that the country has in place or the drug trade / war on drugs context to understand what their fight is really about and the causes for such conflict; . I got a vibe that this piece was kind of putting in doubt the commitment of the FARC soldiers to their ideals with a "Gotcha" moment. I wish there were more local journalists covering this and not through an American-lense but well it is an American media company after all.

This documentary paints the reintegration process as a means for peace, but it essentially ignores the fact that these women are giving up on their principles of equality and what they have fought for to be a part of a society that oppressed them in the first place. it's a recipe for a vicious cycle. it'd have been good if there was some focus on what the government is doing to alleviate the injustice and meet the 'rebel' group halfway instead of painting it as this pariah who is doing its utmost to create peace.

These women did not join FARC for their principles of equality. They joined because they wanted a paycheck and did not have opportunity where they came from. Gloria Steinem worked for the CIA. This is well documented and she even acknowledges and defends it in her autobiography. This video, while informative in many ways, has a very strong pro-U.S. imperialist tilt reflected in its silence on the horrors facilitated by the U.S.'s "Plan Colombia," its casting of doubts on the articulate statements of the women FARC combatants, its disproportionate and largely uncritical focus on the question of "reintegration," and its reliance on the analysis of the U.S. Institute for Peace spokesperson without making clear that the USIP is an instrument of U.S. foreign policy. The bookending of the video with commentary by Steinem is entirely in keeping with this tilt in view of her personal history working for the CIA infiltrating student and youth activist gatherings in the 1960s.

This completely only highlights that anything that the USA is funding is either ONLY to save the USA's as5 or if they don't cause a conflict then columbia may potentially be too rich. (Which is why they needed to "help" the colombian government.)

10:29 Yep, These are just combatants, they don't know anything about the ideology or why they are fighting, if you ask them they all repeat the same answer, Similarly if you ask any US soldier why they are fighting, they are not able to give any ideological or actual reasons, talk to senior members or think-tank of the oraganization, they will answer your questions. I am from India and in my state their are active Maoist far-left insergency, in past i mate some rebels during the visit of my villege and ask them similar question, their answer were the same as tape-recorder.

Surely yous realize people wont share any complaints, if they have any, when they're group is standing 20ft away.....everything is filmed showing their face, theyre members for life, And they're relying on their fellow fighters to have their back in an emergency. Its like interviewing a family member with the rest of the famiy home. These people live together so tightly, bad mouthing your people is a bad look.

But, I’m from Colombia and I have to tell you guys that in these video you have some fake information. 1. “Abortion is not legal in Colombia” abortion ITS LEGAL in Colombia, you’re available to have an abortion in Colombia until your 24 week.

No system is perfect, but an all female army would be more ideal. And if someone wants to leave let them. The fact that they actually council these women to re intergrade into society by wearing heals and girly close, just proves nothing has changed for women.
