What appals me is how none of these parents listen to their children. All the children were saying how they couldn't stand the chaos, the noise, didn't want any more kids. "My parents are addicted to babies." And the parents are like, "I think they love having someone around them all the time, I think they love a big family."

It's not shown, but im sure majority of the responsibility is on the older kids to take care of most of the younger kids. Wbile the mother and father focus mainly on the youngest ones. I've seen it a million times on different TV shows. The older children are unhappy and exhausted, just not living the life a young person should live. And then, it makes them not even want kids.

This is challenging me as an OB nurse. I whole heartedly believe that everyone has the rights to their own body and we cannot force a hysterectomy on someone just for having kids. But the ethical issues that are associated with this is beyond my scope. The kids are clean, fed, and developing accordingly with their milestones. But I have to wonder how this is going to impact the kids mentally in the future. Both positives and negatives.
@tiahnarodriguez3809
@tiahnarodriguez3809 Жыл бұрын
Mentally, you can tell the kids do not like this set-up. It’s ok to speak on the reality of things. In these women’s cases, a hysterectomy should be advised. The poor children are not doing as well as you think. Feeding, clothing, and housing is the bare minimum a parent must provide, and is not a true indicator of how well a child is doing.

It's an addiction, and they're treating it with what the mothers' are addicted to. Hearing them say it's worth the risk is like hearing a heroin addict say it's worth the risk. It'll never not be worth the risk unless something really, really drastic happens. And it can't just be their lives at risk because, again, addict mentality.

They are religious and live what the Bible says. "Fill the Earth.." or something like that. No birth control, God forbid abortion, so what do you do? You keep on having child after child. They live their convictions. And they are all healthy children, which is great. What I like less is that chaos is seen as normal. If you decide to have this many children, you have to give them other kind of attention and group occupations and clear responsibilities so they form a team and so they can get something from being one of many :). Lot of screaming, fighting, rivalry and not having enough peaceful time at home is not good.
@brandym3926

@@majdavojnikovic the big "risk" I'm talking about is her life. I get why she's doing this, but if she ends up dying, she is leaving a husband by himself with all these mourning children. Does their God really want them to have children until she dies young and abandons her children? What is the point of that? I'm not even against her having a large family. That is fine. But when a doctor is telling you that death is knocking, I think you should take a second to seriously think.
@majdavojnikovic
@majdavojnikovic 3 жыл бұрын
@@brandym3926 I agree with you, for me this is not responsible behaviour, but you could see how they both rationalize their choices. One with way to cope with trauma of being adopted ("not wanted"), other one with following the Bible. As they themselves assume, it sure looks like a kind of addiction. If it is addiction, addicts don't think rationally, or can rationally address risks. What is also tragic is that all those children have nothing to say about all of it.

I’m the youngest of 7 children (20years old now) Our childhood was rough! After my mums parents started to get ill (when I was little) that put a massive strain on our family and sent my mum into a breakdown. My mum and dads relationship fell apart and she became a single mum. Her dad dying and the stress of the kids were too much to bear, we were neglected and had to be taken away from her. One of the older kids ended up in foster care, and the rest of us forced to live with our dad or sofa surf as a young adult. We all struggled with suicidal tendencies and depressed from the trauma of our childhood and I was raised completely by my siblings. I can’t imagine how hard it was for my older siblings to look after the young ones let alone being in a family double the size! Our childhood has effected us all even into a adulthood. However, the relationship I have with my siblings is absolute amazing. We are all best friends and love spending time with each other now. I truly hope that these family’s get the light at the end of the tunnel as I did. But, their age gaps are a lot larger than ours so being close as adults may be more difficult. Another thing is the house, having 7 kids and keeping a tidy house is almost impossible, with money being very tight and my mum couldn’t afford to get rid of anything and developed hoarding problems. Tidying the house and doing that much loads of washing was unmanageable alone. The house became so cluttered it was honestly a health hazard, we turned up to school regularly unbathed with knotted hair and the wrong shoes on. You can imagine the knock on effect that had to our education, it’s hard to concentrate with the pressure of what’s going on at home.

Clearly if you have time to harass a stranger for a comment they made almost 2 years ago you have way too much free time on your hands. And I will add after all the shootings, I've seen on the news lately, I am more determined now than ever to homeschool my children, when my fiancé and I decide we are ready for a family, I will probably homeschooled until they are ready for middle school then put them in public. I only have one sibling and still sometimes thought that my parents weren't giving me enough time when I was growing up. Now as an adult and having adult conversations with my parents, I had my mom confess that more than once she struggled harshly with being a stay-at-home parent, and my dad telling me of how he lost sleep thinking on how to provide and not being home that much. We were just TWO kids and there were still so many things my parents wished they did differently and things my sibling and I wished they did to connect better with us. Most kids here are still small, but when they start becoming teens and needing new different kind of attention and more space things are gonna get wild. I can only imagine that it already is to the older kids who, for intents and purposes, have to be parents to their youngest siblings, that's a responsibility they didn't ask for. There's more to having kids than giving them food, clothes and shelter, there is no way all those kids are getting their emotional needs met

I grew up in a family of 13, my mom LOVED being pregnant. Watching this reminded me of the complete chaos, noise, and fights. I was the quiet one that craved attention but always felt a sensory overload. My mom also homeschooled us - but we went into the education system for high-school. Some struggled, some thrived - a social life was impossible as a kid, we had to babysit, do chores, do homework etc. I love and have close bonds with my siblings, but I'm a little bitter I missed a relationship with my mom. She was so focused on the new baby or the new pregnancy, or the chaos on hand; it's not possible to remember the quiet child.

here's some homeschooling advice: you don't teach 7th grade subjects to 3rd and 4th graders and kindergartners, as well as 11th graders.... teach them the subjects they need to be learning at their age and stop generalizing. Plus just copy a public school schedule from the internet and get rid of the topics you find inap like education on ... and so on EDIT #1: You could send them to kumon for math and english difficulties so that they can have structure and still have a somewhat normal classroom experience and direct communication with friends and teachers.

I would be so mad at my mom. With that many kids the individual children dont get enough attentention and even more bc of the fact that she risks her life with more and more pregnancies. I cant imagine the feeling of loosing my mom because of it ... The risks are insane. How can she confidently continue and risk all of it... her kids could grow up without a mom :( The fact she doesnt even let them go to school and socialize or get a proper education is even worse :( This woman needs help and work through her trauma instead of ... this... :(

Some mothers need to be forced to cut the emotional umbilical. As soon as the eldest ones can do tasks, they are put to work to care for the younger ones. That is how it was years ago with large families, too. The eldest never got to be kids, as they became caregivers to their brothers and sisters. They spend their time with housework, laundry, cleaning up messes, and generally being a free housekeeper/babysitter who is taken for granted after the age of about 5, and labelled as "Momma's helper." As each one gets older they must also pick up the chores as they are able. They feel a lot of responsibility for the welfare of the household. If they are on a farm, the chores become harder and kids become adults long before they are ready.

The Radfords have 21 children now and they lost one to miscarriage between the 15th and 21st. The thing I can say about that family is they’re not on benefits, don’t need handouts, provide a lovely loving home for their children and financially cover everything on their own. They should be able to have as many as they’d like as they are the exception to these families because all of their children and now grandchildren as well still choose to live at home or come over daily and holiday as a family too. Even the one they say is the most hated- why do they hate her? All her children are happy, healthy and from the same father. She divorced the father and now has no support from him and now needs benefits. Until the divorce she never needed help. Her and her husband provided. She’s not leeching off the system. She’s a single mom now and she can’t work enough jobs to provide for her family by herself. She needs assistance. I’m sure between her and her husband they paid in plenty. I don’t necessarily agree with these mega families but if they can take care of themselves and they’re happy and not causing problems then what’s the problem? They’re not popping out kids and using the benefit money for booze and drugs…

Honestly, I am all for big families but this made me sad. Those 14 kids are not being taken care of properly. What job does the parents have?? I guarantee it is not enough to pay for all the needs of their children. I can tell that within the first few minutes of the video. It is disgusting when parents do this. As a family of 9 children, I was forgotten a lot (I was #7) there’s really not much time you can spend one on one with your parents. And when you do, you also realize that their attention is not solely going to be directed on you because they also have a lot of other children too. When I was a kid I got left at home once because they didn’t count up all their children when they left to the store. Also, as all adults now there’s a lot of drama and not many of us talk to each other, and there’s a ton of grandchildren now. It’s just a big mess overall. The oldest one of us passed away at 23 years old, and I think it’s made me realize how much I care for the siblings I do have. So even though it’s a big family I wouldn’t want any less siblings than I already have.
