In this British TV documentary, we follow all of the UK's largest families and investigate the highs and lows of living in a busy household.

Episode 3: • The Families That Spen...
In this episode we are introduced to a family that are unique in that even though there are 13 children, all but one of them are female. In this house full of lip gloss, high heels and hair extensions, being the prettiest and best dressed is a never ending competition. Especially since a number of the older girls have competed in (and won) prestigious beauty pageants. There is also the issue of whether the only son is favoured (a belief held by all the girls!) and rivalry for very basic things that most people take for granted - bathroom time! It’s a good thing that mum has time and endless love to pour on them all and dad somehow manages to handle all the finances, car rides and demonstrates zen-like patience waiting for the daily make-up routines - well most of the time!
Our second family family have 10 children between the ages of a few months and their early teens. With all of the children so close in age, there are no older children to help relieve the strain and act as referees. We find out how they deal with everything from squabbles to all-out war and learn what tactics they have for making sure all of their children feel valued, special and like they are getting their fair share of attention as well as negotiating access to expensive and popular toys that have to be shared among all of the kids. Even though they’re not all their own children, these incredible parents treat them all the same and do the best they can to make them feel loved like real parents.

I'm the middle child of 14 children the way I grew up was horrible child neglect doesnt begin to explain how bad it was I'm a survivor of child abuse watching these families be functional and grow up with love and support just shows big families can thrive these moms are amazing just wish mine was like that I was the parent in the house even at such a young age if you cant look after your children please stop having them

That woman's husband is 1000% right - she is living the life she always wanted through her daughters. She feels that as long as her kids are beautiful and adored she is beautiful and adored through them. That's why she doesn't mind making them fight one another; in the end, as long as one of her daughters wins, she feels like it's her doing, so she's just increasing her chances of victory. I can see she loves her daughters, but she doesn't realise that they might not want what she has always longed for herself.

Yes some women get off when they're daughters are seen as beautiful because they view it as I MADE THAT. I've also seen moms be proud when they're daughters are promiscuous because they feel proud they're daughter is the one all the boys "like" it's absolutely disgusting and bizarre.

Fabian and Donna are the best. I've mostly been angry at the parents in this show, but these two really love their kids. They acknowledge how hard it is and truly want them to have the best chance regardless. I hope they're all doing okay.

This programme has done another episode with this family and the boy was the centre of attention, as he was moving out. He also gets his sister's to do all his washing and ironing. He is not neglected

please only have as many kids as you can raise. I was born into a very large family where my parents made the older children raise the young ones. It made me hate children, resent my siblings and I haven't spoken to my parents in 10 years. it's pretty much the same with my other older siblings. none of us have children of our own, our childhoods were stolen when we were forced into the responsibility of being parents to our younger siblings. Just sharing perspective.

I have to admit that this is my idea of hell. I love my kids dearly but I’m kind of an introvert and sometimes the constant noise and cries for attention can do my head in. I will sometimes try and hide in the bathroom but they still find me.

Fabian and Donna really admire me. The fact Donna took in her sisters children and Fabian’s previous marriage children. Yet she still strives and wants what’s best for them. And Fabian talking to chloe to make her feel like she belongs as she does is wonderful. The fact he lost his job and still tried pushing and pushing to make his children happy. I hope they are doing wonderful!

They don't need to invest in them: dentist is free of charge until they're 18 years old... So I don't get why people dont't take care of themselves when they have the luxury to either not pay anything at all or a small fee... blows my mind, really.

The blended family is so sad and really shows the negative effects of divorce. It's hard to raise everyone as one unit when you weren't there for the early years and aren't there when they are constantly being moved between two homes, two different parenting styles. It doesn't allow for you as a parent to have complete say in how they're raised and it doesn't allow enough bonding with all the siblings.

I'm 7 out of 8 kids. Grew up in a four bedroom/1 bath home. Not one of us have ever been in trouble with the law and we're very close. I wouldn't change one second of my 62 yrs. of life. One sister and one brother may they rest in peace!

Some people can handle big families, some can't. Donna looks like she really cant. Not that im blaming her though, its more normal to not be able to handle so many kids. Both parents seems hardworking and kind though taking in the kids like that. With so many kids around, cant help having neglect happening at times :(

The mum in this program with the 13 kids seems so happy. I just imagine they must have incredible Christmases. It really is down to the parents outlook and how well they cope, as to whether its a goood idea or not. But is lovely to see happiness. Not all of these families are meeting the children's needs though. I get the feeling a lot of them feel neglected and wonder why they have to feel cramped, it wasnt their choice.

I’m sorry but they always complain about no space. Go play outside I saw a park area @ 6:20 look at that green. Let them play outside. When I was growing up I was always outside from sun up to sun down except @ school. Tip: to look after any amount of children you need to look after yourself as well even if it’s a walk, a bath, just time away!

My daughter has 11 children they don't fight because this behaviour was sorted when they were small.She has only 7 still at home now and lot of her in life to get a career or good job and enjoy herself and her grandchildren

Damn dad needs to put his foot down with his wife... shes living a lost youth through her daughters...yes they are somewhat pretty but jeeze those girls in that pagent where stunning.. and who the hell told her she could sing... crap my ears near bled. Fabian and donna omg i wish the so much luck they are so down to earth and taking in all the kids now thats what a dad and father does... steps up and becomes a man.... Hope they find an easier life.. bless them all. x

It’s really sad, the daughter is right children should be able to choose what their interests are, the dad needs to put his foot down he says a lot to the camera but not to his wife and what’s really incredibly sad is they don’t mention their son whatsoever like he doesn’t exist neither does his sisters mention him at all so wrong ! this is mums obsession
