I once had a siege where I was defending against only cavalry. They had a ram and towers, but no one was in them. I slowly killed the cavalry that were slowly killing my door with archers. When they eventually bust down the door they had only two groups left and my melee was waiting behind the door. It was easy.

Always had fun playing Wood Elves on the table. Like bringing your own forest, putting some scouts into it and casting spells on the forest to move it abound, basically committing a drive-by on the enemy line. Or your hero having a magical arrow that just rains hits on an enemy unit.

Not being on the wall is actually the best way to defend in a siege in TWW2. If you're on the wall they can trade with ranged units, if you're behind the wall you can use the entrances as choke points and/or the wall to slow down enemy units without losing ranged units while firing on their units.
