Thanks for watching the video! This was a little bit of a different style video, just ranting on some E&M things that I couldn't make into feature videos. It's been a while, and I've been working on some big projects, but until then, I'll try to put out some more weekly videos (more likely bi-weekly).

1:24 I would argue that it's due to the capacitors in the power supply taking a moment to discharge.

Good point, let's calculate it. 10.26A was flowing at 1.16V, that means the resistance of the solenoid was ~0.110ohms. These power supplies usually have output capacitance in order of 1000s of uF, let's be optimistic and use C = 10000uF (probably much more than what the PSU has). Now the RC constant gives us Tau = 0.11ohms * 10mF = 1.1ms. Although it's true that capacitors do not discharge at 1*Tau, they will discharge to basically 0V in about 5*Tau, that gives us 5.5ms to discharge (probably much bigger) capacitor bank. So in conclusion; No

@@aVoidPiOver2Rad Quite interesting. My calculation didn't take into consideration the input-side capacitance, but I expected that to have negligible effect considering the large output capacitance. Though I would argue that the situation is the following; output of the power supply really falls to zero in very little time, the reason why the nail fell down after a while was due to delay of magnetic properties of the iron as stated in the video. When the current is at maximum, all the magnetic domains inside the ferromagnetic material are oriented in the same direction, which makes the ferromagnetic saturated. When the current falls down to zero, all those magnetic domains have to rearrange to spin in random directions. This is a mechanical process. Mechanical systems usually have way longer time constants than electrical systems. And the explanation for the display turning off with a delay as well, may be caused by separate capacitor for the display. (Just a theory though).

@@Astri.electronics btw: the input capacitance is not negligible due to the higher voltage which means more energy is stored. E=0,5*C*U² Also there are magnetic components in the power supply as well (inductors, transformers). They also store energy.

Hey Keystone Science. I loved your video and the humor you added in the video. Keep up the great work! I'm just loving this video and the new content. You have stuck with your original content and ideas. Keep it up! I will tell you the same thing I have been telling Jay over at Plasma channel, take your time on making videos. I don't have very many KZfaqr in my subscriptions that upload original and rooted content. As a matter of fact I only have 2 channels left in my subscriptions (Yours and Plasma Channel's) that still make great original content. I want you to take your time uploading videos, I watch videos like yours and Jay's because it is original and the ideas are deeply rooted in your original roots, or where you started. If it takes you several weeks or several months to get a video out then please take that long. I don't like channels that upload daily videos that are usually just clickbait or are not rooted in originality. If you need to ever take some time off then please do, my pleasure in your videos can wait until you are ready. So please take your time making videos and make them with the quality you have been making them with. I love the videos for the quality and originality and roots of the video. I love both yours and Plasma Channels content because you guys take your time making the videos and you both put just so much effort into the videos to have a nice twist on each and every video making them so unique. The unique, and original ideas and roots is what makes me so passionate about watching your videos. I love just how you put so much effort into your videos, making them super entertaining and educational. You have such great teaching skills and I learn new things in every video you make. Keep up the amazing work keystone Science, and I will definitely be liking your video as it deserves a like and I will be definitely be patiently waiting for your next video. See you then! :) Notes added after posted: I like how you added information such as the burns on your fingers from using it previously. (I am going to assume you messed with it before filming and well, accidents happen and you got shocked. Or you were filming the video and didn't include that clip in the video. I've done that before, where I would do what I want to present before I ever present it right before I present it. I usually get slight burns if I'm messing with a small DIY tesla coil and I would get tiny little black dots on my fingers from playing around. ) I like that you and very recently Plasma Channel has added in some of these small details that are usually overlooked, probably because they aren't shown usually.

Glad to see another video from you. I did find it quite interesting how you used the left hand rule to determine the north and south side of a magnet. I assume in an antimatter world that would be inverse? Or would look just the same from perspective? Anyways It was awesome seeing another video from you again. It would be neat to see how magnetism could store energy in a superconductor.

I haven't watched your channel in a long time, so seeing this is nice. Oh, and please wear hearing protection whenever using any power tools or something that could be loud (even electric arcs can be super loud.) I'm glad you used some form of eye protection, but a face shield is best for angle grinding. I have a friend who once got metal shards in his eyes when using a grinder because he didn't have any safety glasses on.

From the intro, this video's topic is not what I thought it would be. I was thinking something Nikola Tesla related. With mastery of a planet's em field, levitation is possible. Flying cars etcetera would be a lot more simple. Still seems like a nice nice vid though.
