I'm glad that Anno was recognized for his career at such a large scale such as this (Tokyo film Fest). Despite Evangelion's popularity, he himself isn't really appreciated and I'm glad that he got his name in the sun for once. A true artist and human being

because people probably thought after finishing end of eva "what the hell man. the guy who made this happen must be insane!" whereas for me at 10 yrs old after renting death and rebirth from the library, next thing i knew anno became my idol.

Does anyone else find this trailer really inspiring? Anno's work as an artist has actually inspired me in the past, but I find that even something like this trailer recapping the amazing achievements of a person set to a really great musical piece actually inspires me all over again.

He is truly one of the great artistic minds of the late 20th century. Neon Genesis Evangelion is an incredible feat of the human imagination on the same level as Frank Herbert’s Dune. This trailer also shows the versatility of his artistic vision. He isn’t just a genius animator but also a great avant- garde filmmaker. Above all he is just an authentic humanist like all great artists should be.

Too bad young people today missed out on Top wo Nerae Gunbuster (0:57) and Giant Robo the Animation (1:13), but have only seen Neon Genesis Evangelion. Their one and only anime for life. So everywhere I go these days, wherever the name "Pacific Rim" comes up, these young children would keep swearing that Del Toro stole the idea from Evangelion. Never mind that Hideaki have produced great series before Eva, and before then, he was inspired by much earlier TV shows by Go Nagai.

I honestly think it's because the trailer for Pacific Rim had glados's voice saying "Eva launch!". Or at least it sure as hell SOUNDED like she was saying Eva Launch, so can you blame us for thinking Pacific Rim is all that remains of the hollywood live action eva we were promised for years?

I think it's a bit unfair to include stuff that he produced but had no other hand in. A producer comes along because he believes in the artist's vision that they're funding. Kantoku shikkaku is a documentary that really has nothing to do with "the World of Hideaki Anno", it's a project he believed in enough to help get it made.
