I've watched this movie several times. When I was younger it was about space invasion, now it is about trying to find meaning in life when you are too old for that.

It’s taken me a while to really get what this movie is about. A man stuck in the past because he feels like his life is over gets his childhood friends back together to try and recreate what he thinks is the peak of his life. He does everything he can to recreate it, but the world around him has changed so irreversibly. But he keeps pressing on because this experience is all he has left.

Another chance? It's probably the best movie of the last decade

This movie is amazing and I loved it when I first saw it after graduating high school. It's a master class in foreshadowing and even after multiple rewatches I still find new stuff in it. I've seen it at least 5 times and it's honestly ones of those movies I could watch and never get bored. It's one of my favorite movies ever and I love it to pieces. When I saw how little fanfare it got compared to Wright's other movies it only makes me want to praise it even more. This movie made me laugh, cry, shocked me, amazed me, made me think about little details, and its ending made me think about what's good for humanity. One of the silver linings to how "unknown" this movie is is that I showed this movie to a group of my friends, were initially disappointed that's its a "drinking movie" and not an end of the world movie or a sci-fi, and watched them have their minds blown when the movie takes a turn in the Crossed Hands. Me: "So is this sci-fi enough for you now?" absolutely priceless.

I know this is a bold statement, but The World's End is undoubtedly my favourite film of all time.

Pegg and Frosts acting in this movie is next fucking level, particularly Gary Kings "reveal" of his true motives towards the end. So heartbreaking

My personal favorite of the trilogy. I never loved Shaun all that much and while Hot Fuzz is fucking amazing, this one feels much more unique and heartfelt.

Honestly it’s my favourite in the trilogy and always has been. It used to be a dumb sci-fi film to love when I was younger but now as I’m nearing the end of my teenage years it’s become a lot more deep and emotional, now that I’m able to understand film and adult messages more. Obviously it’s not so relatable because I’m not a middle aged man still lacking any meaning in life but it is relatable as someone who’s currently looking for that meaning.

Edgar Wright is brilliant. Love all his works.

Three of the most rewatch-able films I’ve ever come across. I spot something new every time, and while World’s End isn’t my favorite of the trilogy, it has, in my opinion, more meat on it that Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead.

Totally agree with you. What I have noticed though is that each of the trilogy gets better & better with repeated viewings and I think that is an indication of a good movie.

I love all 3 equally, but I do have an extra special soft spot for World's End because it's the only one I got to see at the cinema.

Know what else I loved about it: The fact that it feels like a Halloween film. You got creepy robots, a simple village that gets creepier as night falls, and the fact that the gang go on the crawl in October, though the latter doesn't justify it, it's got a fall feeling before the apocalyptic winter by the end, which is less about the cold of the oncoming season and more cold turkey for humanity.

I love this movie honestly I used to like hot fuzz and shaun of the dead more but as I mature this one stands out more

I fucking love this film. What's wrong with it

Best movie of all time. I’ve seen literally about a hundred times. However when I first saw it, on my birthday in 2013, I left the theater disappointed. It’s wasn’t until about 5 years later and finally watched it again when I discovered how great it truly is.

I'm am pretty much the same age as the characters in The World's End and finished school around the same time, so maybe that connects me to it more, even tho I prefer the zombie genre, The World's End, I feel, is a more perfectly crafted film. Every shot contains clues as to the movies end if you look hard enough. I watched this far too many times than I would like to admit, watching it almost daily at one point when I got my partner hooked on it. All the little clues and having everyone from Simon Pegg's earlier movies and TV Series was also a highlight. I rank The World's End in my top 3 films of all time. It's well written, witty, has humour when it needs to have it, and some really touching mature themes revolving around mental health and the black dog that chases you.

It may not be the best but it's my favorite Edgar Wright movie.

Sick video! This was the first of the Cornetto Trilogy that I saw in the cinema, and while at first I enjoyed it but it was probably my least favourite out of the three (least favourite out of three masterpieces isn't saying much, but still). However, after rewatching it more times then I can count (sometimes going frame by frame to watch the editing) it is now my absolute fave out of the 3! great video again!

Of the three films in the trilogy, it's got the most hard-hitting undertones. Gary King, as a character, is the most openly tragic character in any of the films, and the exploration of his past is an "adult fear" motif in an otherwise largely cartoony film. Yes, Shaun of the Dead also grappled with meaningful characters, but The World's End goes further with it, and addresses issues which even most serious films won't touch (the notion of never realising one's potential as an adult).

First of all, the Cornetto trilogy is my favorite trilogy ever. I ended up after re watching the whole trilogy. Even though The world's end wasn't my favorite before, I think it is now. Maybe it's because of my age (40), I can relate to it more now.

Most directors and writers wish this was their movie.

I was disappointed when i first watched it, wasnt terrible but didn’t reach the highs of the first two in my opinion at the time. But after watching it again a couple of years later i enjoyed it a lot more, and now after watching it a good few times i think its now my favourite. Maybe it speaks to me more now as im at that stage in my life that i can see what the film was saying. Plus the scene where Andy finds out Gary tried to commit suicide and he never found his place in the world and wanted to live in his teenage years where he felt was the best of his life is brilliant writing and very emotional 😢.

I quite agree. I didn't enjoy this as much as the others but is one of the more re-watchable of the 3 films.

This one is the wittiest and the best of the 3 in my opinion.

It's because of these movies that I'm disappointed when I see either Nick Frost or Simon Pegg without the other actor. While Frost plays the sidekick to Pegg's characters, I see them as equals, or partners. While they both have great comedic talent, they are both elevated when they are with each other.

The worlds end is the best of the trilogy

I adore this movie but I could never properly get into it as it was filmed in my home town. Like I could spot my workplace in it and I'd been to all the pubs. The club they go into wasn't even a club, it was a cinema lobby, which was where I even watched the film (twice). The Beehive wasn't a pub, but the bar side of a Thai restaurant where me and my girlfriend had our first date (which has since been knocked down and turned into flats). The giant robot monitoring the town was where our car was parked when watching in the cinema (like a 4D experience). The pub with the disabled toilets is where I made out with one of my friends' mums when I was 21, then the garden they go into to fight the twins was an entirely different pub. It was just so bizarre. I think the other reason it probably didn't do as well is because it was a film primarily about British drinking culture, so a lot of it probably flew over the heads of other nations? Not sure.

Hot fuzz has to be my favorite of the trilogy(if not one of my favorite films of all time haha), but I absolutely LOVED the world’s end, even more than Shaun of the dead

this is my #2 in the trilogy, Hot Fuzz is just perfect, but the extra depth (in World's End) and production quality of the sequels makes me feel Shawn could have been better with what they know now.

All three have their own pros and cons. I think Shaun of the Dead is the funniest, Hot Fuzz is the most quotable and The World's End has the most complex characters and the best story in the whole trilogy.

I've only see World's End once really, past rewatching clips. Even from that one vieiwing, I thought it was the least funny of the three but also tied with Hot Fuzz as overall the best one. Shaun of the Dead is amazing, perfect, but I feel it neither is as funny as Hot Fuzz (Still hilarious, mind you), nor as emotionally powerful as World's End. For me, World's End was best as a drama with comedic elements while Hot Fuzz was the other way around. Seeing it that way, I loved The World's End. One of my favorite movies of all time.

I rank this second behind Hot Fuzz in my Cornetto Ranking. I love them all, but I think the reason this suffers is that it is less rewatchable and not as much of a fun ride as the other two.

Spot on. It’s a much more complex film than I originally thought. I didn’t like it when it came out as it subverted my expectations too much. I wanted Simon Pegg to play likeable character and Gary King isn’t likeable. The switch to SF was a total surprise. It didn’t feel like a cornetto film. Had this been released by anybody else it would have been better received perhaps. As you say, it’s a lot better than people first thought.

The reversal of both the plot hooks and Pegg and Frost's characters combined with the beautifully choreographed fights and good drama are the reasons I enjoy this one the most out of all three films. Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz are definitely funnier all throughout and are fantastic films in their own rights. However, The World's End feels like a better, more complete movie to me.

I like this film it's my second favourite from the trilogy. Personally I view this film as a bunch of old friends getting together for a night of drinks and stuff goes wrong.

i think a lot of the supporting characters are a lot less memorable than in the other two. I always figured it was due to the plot focusing more on Pegg trying to show his acting range to Hollywood. Guess it payed off, he's been Tom Cruise and JJ Abrams comic relief go to for next decade.

It wasn't my favourite but was still amazing

Worlds end is the best of the three. The central theme for me in Shawn was the Winchester rifle in the Winchester bar and if it was a real operating gun. Central to the bar the question was for patrons was it a real gun? Not only was it a real gun, but it was loaded. In the words end the central idea goes back to the bar myths was the old guy back then warned the boys of space invaders. In the end they realize he was telling the truth 20 years ago and was like the loaded gun above the bar. In the hot fuzz the central theme is the parody of Point Break and not shooting anyone. In the end during all the shootouts nobody is killed and only wounded. All the killing does not come from gun violence but from the deranged village people whining they are morally superior and so blind and superior they fail top see their own evil and are the real killers and do the real murders. The pure irony of it all. A Winchester Bar and the gun is the reason for the bar and the gun is not evil, but a messed up society destroys itself with a deadly disease like our China virus now. In Hot Fuzz the guns are not evil and don't kill people, but arrogant and self serving town elitists take cancel culture to the extreme and eliminate anyone not to their mold or liking. In the Worlds End technology is the evil and actually just like aliens robs mankind of freedom. Gary King is the only true free man as he proclaims, yet his life is deemed tragic and unaccomplished. There is a balance in life between the two extremes that is finally unveiled when the world is devoid of technology at the end. The best advice from the three movies is enjoy life, enjoy your friends, beer will change the world, and all things should be done with moderation accept love. Love as hard as you can with all your strength and be excellent to each other.

It’s the best of the three

The concept of an Alien invasion is sadly the weak link in the movie, but everything else outdoes the first two films. The emotional core of the film, the character arcs, friendships, everything else. It's done so much better here which is why this is my favourite of the trilogy. Hot Fuzz is perfectly written with barely any writing issues, but it lacks the same emotional resonance that this film has.

Stupid title, everyone knows it’s fucking class - it’s just Shaun and Hot Fuzz are too. It’s my fave of the trilogy, there’s just more heart in World’s End.

I definitely enjoyed it more on my 2nd and 3rd viewings, but it's still my least favourite of the three. Like Hot Fuzz, it's very cleverly written and with each viewing, you notice more and more subtle details. But to market it like part of the "Cornetto Trilogy" kinda led people to believe it had a similar kind of humour, but what we got was probably the most depressing comedy I've ever seen. While it does have it's funny moments, I'm not sure if you can call it a comedy with a character as tragic as Gary King. I mean, by the end, I wasn't sure if it was meant to be funny or sad. Definitely a very watchable film in it's own right, just not as part of the trilogy.

Hot Fuzz was the peak of the trilogy, but World's End is still hugely entertaining and a great character study of men entering Middle age. I loved "Gary", but he was a little overdone.

The fact they use a lot of the actors from the other two movies all over this movie and you have to catch them. Bill nighy is the alien voice as well as shaun ,s step dad and the chief inspector in Hot fuzz. how about getting 007 ,s to play in them.

I certainly don't remember 'The World's End' being panned at all on release. It was critically acclaimed and beloved by the vast majority of people who watched it and has only grown in adoration since.

I personally think Worlds End is actual more enjoyable then Shaun of the Dead, at least for me personally.

W knew what worlds end's theme would be before it came out... It's the cornetto tribology the only cornetto flavours back then were strawberry plain chocolate and mint chocolate chip... red blue and green wrappers... red of strawberry representing blood for Sean of the dead... blue of the plain chocolate to represent to blue police theme... and green but we know this already but when the poster came out before the movie we could see space in the background and people with lights in their eyes that and the green colour of the min chocolate chip could only mean aliens but I see Paul as part of that trilogy as it came out first yes different director all the rest of it but it fit better in the trilogy the need to make a saga and have another 3 films for modern day films...

The network = the USA

The biggest flaw with the World's End is the antagonists are painfully, PAINFULLY uninteresting. I was actually really into the story, specifically the character arcs of Gary & Andy. But once the robots come into play, every scene they're in grinds to a halt. They aren't funny, and as I emphasized before, they are incredibly uninteresting. The fight scenes are legitimately boring to me, I just zoned out waiting for them to end, and even the dialogue scenes with the other robotic characters held no intrigue whatsoever. I never thought the World's End was bad, it's an extremely well made movie with great characters, but the antagonists imo drag the movie down below it's two predecessors.

The World's End was the worst movie of the trilogy in my opinion after I watched it for the first time, simply because the tonal shift from Hot Fuzz to TWE messed with my expectations. I watched it for the second time years later and it went from worst to favourite of the trilogy but also harder to digest. Shaun and Fuzz are movies that I can put on anytime. For the World's End, I need to be in the right mood. Two things (of many). Expectations aside, I think it also hits a different chord as we age and become more and more vulnerable to nostalgia. Watching it in our twenties when so many things are still in the making for us creates a different experience and relation to the characters than ten years later. Mid-30s or older, when we're stuck in routines, and have been working in the same field (sometimes the same job) for a longer period of time, many have families with children that now dictate the course of the next decade. It strongly influences how we now perceive the other characters and how they live their now much more relatable adult lives. It's an age when we realize we're growing older, we see the new generation growing into adults and taking "our" place, we remember our youth and begin to really understand that these years are not coming back. I think that's another reason why The World's End suddenly seems to be a much better movie than we originally realized (or were able to realize). It's also different in terms of rewatchability. All three movies require multiple rewatches if we want to catch everything, every joke, every reference, every foreshadowing and callback. But for the first two, this mostly relates to the humour. The World's End has different layers that are almost impossible to all grasp at the first time. So, here's my most recent realisation: It's hilarious how Gary suffers from main character syndrome and his anger with the world partly stems from his expectations of his future: To be some kind of chosen one who changes the world simply because of who he is. Andy just wants to live a normal, quiet, peaceful life. When the twist comes and the action starts, normally, we'd expect Gary's time has come and he clearly expects so, too. He acts like a main character and action hero but the more he tries to be the cool hero, the more he fails. Meanwhile, Andy doesn't try at all, he just wants to get over with the night and yet, he is the one in the group who turns into the action hero with the cool lines and attitude and impressive fighting moves. It's another twist on the tropes. And then, it's all twisted back after all blows up. Gary doesn't calm down and becomes content with a quiet life (making him the only character of the trilogy who refuses to learn a lesson and change/improve) and Andy doesn't discover his adventurous spirit and goes out and fights for a better world. Things like this give the movie a deeper quality the other two don't have. On the other hand, it's not a mood booster, especially on days adult life feels frustrating and bland.
