Wow, playing Warhammer on TTS would be tough, not really my idea of a good time I must admit. It's all about the physical spectacle of the game for me!

@@EsotericOrderGamers I’d not played any Warhammer since the early 90’s. Only during the pandemic did myself and my brother learn that 40k and WHFB were on TTS. Nothing compares to having your own painted tangible mini’s on a physical tabletop, but TTS gave us the outlet to play both games, and rekindle our interest in the hobby. I’ve since being stripping and repainting my old 80’s mini’s and scanning them so I can play them on TTS with my brother.

Any game is better than no game, and it's great TTS has got you back into it.

Never tried it, I must admit! Maybe I'll proxy some units and give it a go if the list and rules are free.

I recommend Hobgoblin, a new rules set by the designer of Gaslands, Mike Hutchinson, for simple rank and flank rules. I've done a battle report, check it out.

It's an interesting approach, and I wonder if we'll see more of separate army boxes like this for future games. I can see it's good for some people - just not good for 'do everything' gamers like me!

Well that's something I didn't talk about of course - and I should have - how great this is for people who still have their old armies. So you're still a fan of the old, more clunky rules mechanics?

You say old and clunky, i say granular and interesting. I know games like 40k or AoS are far more accessible but they do nothing for me, bloodbowl, necromunda and the far heavier fantasy have always been what makes me tick.. i have adhd, games like these are a hyperfocus for me. Ive spent years chasing the dopamine hit i got from fantasy in boardgames only one to really hit the mark is kdm, which I'm also a lover of.. very different game same levels of complexity and strategic choices.. i thought ato might hit the spot but while there's a lot i love about it, much of the choice in gameplay and strategy is simply the illusion of choice, the game is so balanced to the point of it being a negative due to the type of game it is. Anyways I'm waffling, but yes ive been looking for something that does want fantasy does since it was killed, of course warhammer is a lot and of their games its the most demanding, it needs far more models, far heavy rules overhead far more commitment which is understandably not for everyone. The launch seems to have been grossly successful selling out of most things very quickly so I'm hopeful they can sustain this along with their other projects and we already know they are working on models for kislev and cathey so i can see at least 5 years of support for it if it maintains its popularity. I will say my belief to why its returned, it was a rash choice to cut it originally, the sales of end times easily proved it was absolutely popular just 8th was not selling well for whatever reason, i know ip control had something to do with its removal as well. So why bring it back? Total war warhammers massive success, it was vastly more successful than expectations and thats a massive new potential market for something that didnt not have a market in the first place. Not that I'm going to question it to closely, i love its back and i hope other people can share in my enjoyment both new players and old.

@@EsotericOrderGamers lol I've had those cross indexes inprinted into my brain for decades.. even with minor changes this edition I don't need to reference them at all. I think this is very much going to be a game for a group of dedicated players, warhammer has never been as accessible as other gw systems and is very hard to casually produce a army for, it asks a lot but if you enjoy the depth it gives a lot as well. Thanks for the video, its always good to get other peoples takes, very easy to see the world from the eyes of the echo chambers around us so we are blind to outside perspectives.

Oh I'm DEFINITELY going to do more for Firefight. I've painted the first edition but have yet to play it, and I think they're sending me 2nd ed. Talking about Epic, they'll also be a system by Warcradle set in their steampunk universe. So we're split for choice, that's for sure.

Just wanted to say that because while I didn't mind the ramble, your best indicator will probably be the stats on how rambly videos go versus non-rambly ones.

@@EsotericOrderGamers I plan on getting metal figures and developing rules around D100 Dungeon. I like the weight of metal, they don’t get knocked about so easily. I’ve a mild allergy to glues too. I have built a lot of plastic kits for board games and it pains me each time 😂

It's not a matter of friends (though in smallish towns like mine there are far fewer gamers), it's a matter of people wanting to pay a huge amount of money to give yet another system 'a go'.

Well then the strategy - as you see - it isn't working, because I think I make a lot of negative points in this as well as positive. And by the way, this isn't a review as I haven't actually had a chance to play the system yet. It's merely my thoughts and opinions, watch or don't, as you see fit.

Absolutely that's what's in it for GW - however, not all advertising is positive and that's where the integrity and honesty of the reviewer come in.

Oh come on, I'm not whinging or complaining, and I had a laugh at myself in the video when I jokingly said I was. Please don't take me so seriously - I don't! And if you're happy hobbying alone, go right ahead and enjoy yourself! Anyone who's seen my videos knows I'm the absolute last person who would gatekeep any aspect of the gaming hobby.

I've done 3 for Conquest and it was tough call, that's for sure!

Well I have 5 such armies in storage, might return to the field. Does mean I don't need to buy any models, and I think that was issue before, players didn't buy much once they have enough. And lot of my additional armies were bought up by others selling out, full retail would have been too much to consider. But as there will be overlap with AOS might help.

I'm guessing - just guessing mind - that they did that to keep things limited. I mean, as much as they want this version to sell models, they don't want to be *too* popular and have too many people playing with old models instead of buying new ones! Committing to bringing back and supporting everything would probably be too much of a commitment to what is really a specialist release.

@EsotericOrderGamers That's a fair point. Though it begs the question: Why bother? I know that a lot of people will play simply for nostalgic reasons. And a decent portion of people who play the video games will be interested in this game because of the connections to said game. If the faction they want to play is playable that is. Many also believed they were going to introduce the new look and units of Kislev and Grand Cathay that are present in Total War Warhammer 3 but now I'm skeptical as to whether they will. All in all it's nice seeing the old models again, but it seems like a waste of time as many WH Fantasy players are just playing with old or revised rules with their old models or the countless new ones provided through 3d printing. I hope you find someone to play with! It'd be nice to watch you guys do a battle report.
