German BBs much more viable in ranked - often times you end up on a flank alone, with maybe one or two ships, and having secondaries that are useful and hydro really helps them engage a myriad of opponents.

i found the best way to play the schlieffen is like a light cruiser, hide at points in the map where the enemy will push through and then brawl. its a great defensive brawler. not a great aggressive brawler if that makes any sense

US/Japanese/French/British are all quite easy to play. German Battlecruisers are imo the most fun, but requires some patience and good placement.

Love the German BB line up to T8, once they start getting up tiered and you get into the T9 and T10 ships you burn like a campfire marshmallow.

Im surprised you didnt include the italian BB line in this video. In the current meta its difficult for even the veteran players with the lower range, mediocre secondaries, and shotgun dispersion.

German BB was my first line (I wanted Bismarck I knew nothing about the game at all), I still love them and the BC line I think they are still great ships but I agree with you they are not beginner friendly at all I feel they take allot of map awareness and game knowledge to play them well, and even then that sub denying you that area to go to pretty much sums up allot of my experiences with subs in game, essentially subs made them even harder to play. But overall I used to play 50/50 BB and cruiser but now I am a cruiser main because BB can be such a frustrating experience, this morning I was selected for additional screening by the enemy submarine who proceeded to chase me around for the entire match to say I was tilted would be an understatement.

I had the exact opposite experience. I started on the German lines, BB and Cruiser, and after cutting my teeth on them, the other lines felt somewhat lacking. Only the American line felt good to me. The rest felt very "one trick pony" with huge weaknesses. But to each their own.

Big fan of the content! I've found a main gun build on the Preussen to be pretty strong in clan battles. The main gun build gets the reload to 21 seconds which has been a big factor in medium to close engagements. Early game Preussen doesn't impact as much like you mentioned in this video but once clan battles get to mid game a main gun Preussen can hammer cruisers and bbs with that fast reload. Plus Preussen takes a lot of focus fire to kill it, especially in the small game modes. I feel like Preussen really shines in CB's when you have it on a flank you intend to push or to counter a push. Also being able to smash the bows on American cruisers feels so good! Totally agree with you here on Random battles. I avoid playing my German bb's in that mode because they are so hard to play well and impact the game.

For me it is the USA lines that help me learn each class effectively. You can build to your play style and they are not always the best in tier but never the worst : subs not included, I learn to sink them not ever to play them

The game has changed with long range and faster reloading cruisers that also have better concealment. You try to push in and get spotted just to find there are more ships there waiting for you. The main guns dispersion shows to be good on paper, but the shells are all over the place at 20 km.

I feel the USN BB line is one of the best to start with. For training, because they are slow it forces people to use the mini map in order to recognize what's going on in order to be part of the match. They tended to suffer the least from RNG at the lower levels, which is important for somebody starting out who doesn't understand how wg treats aiming/dispersion. That said, I do acknowledge that when I went through this I already understood broadside equals bad, so I understood I was going to get punished if I overextended which I did and still do occasionally lol.

I use a full maingun build Preussen (german line was my first line) and grinding to the Schlieffen too.. I enjoy the maingun Preussen a lot, since you give up secondaries (no skills or equipment for them) and go more normal BB main gun and tank. Can just sit stern in and sure the disp is maybe not as good as others, but the guns on preussen is 18inch I think, and they reload in less than 20 after some adrenaline rush, so that kind of makes up for it

The meta is brutal to battleships as a whole, most certainly. I think the schlieffen line could definitely be tricky for new players. I was one of those guys who got the tirpitz first thing when I started and spent more than my fair share of matches yolo-ing before I learned the error of my ways. When you have a secondary ship, it’s super tempting to get into secondary range first thing. Which is, more often than not, a huge detriment to the team as you end up quickly down a battleship. I’m a bb main, and after watching your vids and taking your advice, namely on positioning and patience before the push, I’ve noticed my numbers jump up substantially. Ultimately in todays meta your just gonna have those games where you get soloed by the carrier and or farmed to death. For me though, it’s worth to get those rounds with 300/400+ secondary hits. From my experience, the accuracy mod shrinks the depth of the dispersion ellipse and so the shots fall more in a circle than an oval. That can make your ship less accurate overall especially against battleships, you tend to get less aligned shots, especially at long ranges. I tested this on my Fuso six years ago and I stopped landing citadels on anemy BBs at long range overnight with this mod. German BBs are great support BBs, at the condition you have a pushing team to support. The rest of the time, just kite away until you sunk some enemy ships so you can have more favorable engagement conditions to finish off the last enemy in a brawl. The battlecruisers are not tanly enough for that, they fullfill more the role of cruisers, even then, their guns don't land shots consistantly enough on cruisers for that to work if you are secondary specced. The German quirk means that battlecruisers are better against battleships sometimes. Unfortunately, the meta of rapid fire light HE spammers is what started to kill the game. It was fine when there only Atlantas, but now all latest cruisers are like that...

I often follow my team mate DD in Schlieffen and go near the cap if there is an island nearby where I can take cover if needed, then we together can take out the enemy DD if he tries to cap and gets himself spotted. Obviously can't do it if there are CVs in the game tho.

I've been ftp for 3 years with the idea of trying every line instead of rushing to tier 10 and learning as much as possible along the way. I took to the german's right away and have gotten to Bismark. The lasty year has been rough for learning BBs and really got me into DDs. I started following you because of learning and as I 've progressed through tiers, I'm starting to understand all the issues that you've been bringing up since I foundg you (aka just pre commander-rework/deadeye timeframe). I'll try to get to the point here and I hope you read this, but I bet you don't beacsue you hate ingame chatterbugs lol. WG got me with the fomo tactic and I finally gave them money to get Haida before she left the store. Now, she's all I play and I just hit 19 points with her cmdr.. I'm excited that you may be getting more into DDs, but dude, you're perspective on BBs is spot on. I stated following you because I was a finding myself to be a BB main and I totally feel your game. I thought it was just me, but to see you moving away from BBs makes me feel a little less alone in my grievances, lol. Thanks, man. To be fair, I believe montana is pretty good bb as first bb line. It doesnt excel, but are kinda jacks-of-all-trades. Sure, she got powercrept, but is still pretty decent. You have ok accuracy so you can snipe a bit, got improved heal and ok hull, so you can tank, AA is gonna discourage cvs at least a bit and so on. And on the way you get some really fun ones too, like North Carolina and Iowa.

I had to rebuild my Preussen and GK to have more range (23.9km) and accuracy (that puny 7%) in order to be mildly useful when I'm against very long range BBs and unable to push. However, my Hannover is still full secondaries because of Lutjens. I run all three ships with the best concealment possible btw, otherwise I move one minimap-square forward from spawn and I'm already being farmed by a cruiser or being burnt to hell by god knows what.

WG either need to improve the accuracy of the guns or decrease the detection lvl of the german BbS to allow them to get closer to brawling

What makes an effective BB in today's meta? Reliable accuracy at mid to long range. Ability to go dark relatively easily. Guns that are able to do decent damage against pretty much anything. OK armour if angled. Reasonable speed/rudder shift for dealing with torpedoes, possibly dodging return fire, and maybe some planes and especially running from the idiocy that is submarines (ability to cycle damacon might also feature). Enough AA to make a CV with a clue (yes, I know, LOL) choose another target. What options fit those for a new player? I'd have thought Brit BBs might top the list. Great concealment, decent accuracy, absurd/obscene HE that requires ZERO understanding to be devastating against anything (and if you do learn enough as to when to use their AP, can be even more so as people don't expect it), and eventually the "Engineering, Bridge: print us half a new ship, please" ability. Enough AA. Not slow, reasonable manoeuvrability. Even some decent premiums if anyone's stupid enough to give WG money these days. Soviets might also be an obvious choice as they're never weak in their tier and often formidable. A long-range meta suits Slava especially, and its theoretical weaknesses are largely BS in-game. Despite not having overmatch, it has god-tier penetration anyway and hugely reliable accuracy. High shell velocity makes aiming easier for a new player especially. Again, reasonable to good AA (bearing in mind AA is largely a joke of course). They get pretty quick damacon, don't they? Relevant to subs IF WG continues with that idiotic pinging shit. French could be interesting but require more knowledge to be truly effective I suspect. All that speed can allow someone to get into trouble very quickly, so it's potentially a mixed blessing. I don't know which of those have decent anti-sub weapons, or the degree to which they differ. I suppose if WG is determined to ram subs up every player's backside then that, too, will be a consideration. It's sad seeing what the German BBs have become. When introduced they were SUCH a breath of fresh air, a seriously different beast from other BBs. Now they're almost a meme. They take stupid amounts of full pen damage, have vast superstructures to farm (don't get me started on THAT idiocy; we complained to WG about the mechanic from the start in Alpha testing), and idiotically inaccurate guns. Then they bring in Soviets who do pretty much most things better and that's before the meta shifted even further. Why the Germans DIDN'T GET BETTER SIGMA AS THEY CLOSED, which the Soviets DID, I'll never understand. Well, I suppose because WG always want to make the next thing better so people will spend "free" exp and all the other things that come along with their awfully negative business model, but that's a whole different thread, LOL. DD main working up the US Montana line. Also working the German battle cruiser line. After those, I am doing the Conq and then Kremlin. I play the Germans as cruisers, the reduced expectations make it easier to use them. With subs ruining the game I am almost always looking to kite in BBs. I mainly play DD and long range cruisers or radar cruisers.

I'm actually having a pretty good time in my FdG at the moment, including ranked (it's a hybrid build with main guns accuracy in the 3rd slot) But i really dislike playing my Veneto. It is a shotgun, which cannot reliably hit a thing at over 10-12km, sometimes at closer ranges too. I would say it's my least favourite BB at the moment, and I've grinded through most of BB lines by now except for the French line. Hopefully it gets better at Lepanto/Colombo, but I'm really considering free-exping this abomination, because at times its mediocrity seems too much.

I tend to dump the extra heal for concealment, Fire Protection and Secondary CTrl click... on those things.

Im still pretty "new" to the Game, started in autumn 2021 with some weeks/months where i didnt touched the game. I set for me as target the "großer Kurfürst" before it would get removed. I actually did it but it was veeery frustrating and "painful" i had a very low morale for the game, but i where to stubborn und determind to stop the grind, despise the little fun i had. A part came definitely from my rather small experience overall, but the meta and in this video named problems espacilly in higher tiers really got me on my sanity. At the end even with the Kurfürst in my Port, i found myself go back to my first "love" Carriers, its just more satisfying and rewarding in comparisson to my journey with German BBs. Maybe in the future something happens that get me back to them.

I’ve had a good time with the German ships of all tiers they are challenging at times but have gotten me some krakens and high damage games for sure

I do love German BBs but as you said they're underwhelming in randoms because they aren't meta like Slava, Yamato, Conquerer etc. Good in ranked but I found even Pommern struggles, you just get farmed out easily with that huge super structure although I do very well in Scharnhorst.

I used to be a German BB main, but I've been bringing out Yamato more and more with this meta. While she's certainly not ideal for it, the good dispersion and 32mm of overmatch can do you a lot of favors at closer ranges, and of course, she still has exceptional long range accuracy. Overall, ships like Yamato feel more flexible than the German BB's, and with the way the game is played, you really need that flexibility in order to get results.

Watching this is reminding me of that one time iChase said that the game meta has changed and is a lot more static and standoffish than ever and that's the absolute worst case scenario to be trying to play German BBs since your strengths are your close quarters tankiness and secondary armaments. You're extremely powerful in certain conditions but you need to be able to read the game to know when that's happening and be at the right place and right time to exploit it which is definitely not a noob-friendly trait to have. Honestly if you want to learn how to Battleship stick with mid-tier ships until you have like at least 100 games then attempt to go into tier8 and up. I'd say the best individual ships I'd say you can use to learn how to BB are ships like Queen Elizabeth, Bayern, Kongo, Fuso, and Izmail. For premiums I'd say ships like Warspite, West Virginia 41, and Prinz Eitel Frederich [sic] are really good starter ships that let you feel out the good and bad of the class. As for someone's first Battleship line that's a really complicated question since it really depends on how you like to play. For close-in combat I would obviously love to recommend the German main line with some caveats, but there's something to be said about the Soviet line too since they're a fair bit more forgiving if you know how to manage your consumables. USN Main is a good line since they're flexible, the only bad apple in the bunch is Colorado because of poor speed. RN BBs are good, but I worry that their over-reliance on HE shells will teach the wrong lessons to newbies. Italian BBs are really strong but they're one of the more fragile battleship lines in the game so good if you want to learn sink-or-swim style but not fun if you don't know what you're doing. Japan is like the US, old and reliable. France is okay too, though not particularly stellar. I cannot for the life of me say that I'd recommend the USN Thicc BBs though, that low speed is simply not gonna be helpful for a newbie.

Guess I shouldn't tell you this but the KM mainline was my gf first line and her first T10, and she's only been playing 3 years. Her next was Worcester and US CLs are very tough to play because of how little armor they have but, she did have a good teacher. ;)

this is gonna sound really weird, but one of the best games I played in a german bb was when I had to step away from the game for 5 minutes at the start, only to them come back and single handedly stall out the enemy teams push in a bismarck. the enemy had already pushed up and I was just able to race to the cap and interupt their push. Patience is key in a german bb, but sometimes that same patient attitude will lead to you not doing very much at all in a battle, which really does suck. Secondary battleships are just is a very tough place and I am not sure how wargaming could fix them cause of how passive the game has become.

At first I was poised to get pretty annoyed but then I rethought it. I happened to get Pommern out of a crate and I spent several months playing that until I ultimately dove in and grinded up to Schlieffen. If I hadn't had played Pommern for a while and taken the time to get at least acceptable at it I could see myself finding either branch of German ships frustrating.

Few hours ago, o bought the F.Sherman and almost got torn apart by a hailstorm of shrapnel from Schlieffen's secondaries. Smoke saved me...

I'm loving the shclieffen line. Most fun I've had in ages. Granted everyone else is sniping. I roll in hard with the DDs and win caps lol.

I never even thought once about the german bb line as the best line to start bbs. In my mind, it was always the USN main line.

I have been slinging HE in those early long range engagements because what we need is consistency, and the guns are the least consistent part of it all. The consistency of HE is what puts some impact into the early game. But yeah, as someone who really mainly plays German BBs, its not a pleasant experience right now. Honestly, never thought I'd see the day a GK and Preussen will be throwing HE at each other from 19km out. What a meta we are living in, when at 17km, you still get HE spammed, torp spammed and carrier struck with impunity.

i want to git gud at German BB because my reason to start playing WoWs is that Bismarck Song! and when i get Bismarck i kinda dissapoint my self that i can't git gud with Bismarck because i can't get Bismark into Secondary Range and forced to play her in mid or long range but when i manage to get to close combat it so fun with Secondary Gun that do many damage but it rare situation to get in Secondary Range so i feel you sir that German BB is not good to go for a new players like me and thanks for your idea! this video is great!

Agree 100% my first line was USA line in the times when there were only 3 bb lines and i still do think it is the best line to start and learn bb's

I wish this video had come out earlier. I bought the Pruessen last week and I am having a horrible time with it.

as an American bb line only player I have to say they struggle at long range. the dispersion of the monty is more miss than hit. you can fire a full broadside and straddle a bb. the secondary's are lack luster. though that being said around 15 km the guns really shine but lack the penetration power to citadel most of the newer ships with thick armor. the monty can really tank shots as long as it isn't he spam.

What mod shows the damage indicators for secondary guns?

You could argue that purely statisctics and characteristics wise that Kremlin is not a great starting grind either. It's also a closer range brawler, but without the benefit of secondaries. It does have the benefit of accuracy, especially within 13-15 km. I'd recommend Republique any day of the week, it's my favorite (maybe outside of Bourgogne). The range, reload, shell ballistics and penetration just make the ship so much fun to play. Yes it does have wonky dispersion from time to time, but with the reload that is not really all that big of an issue. Gather the fact that it's fast, but somewhat mediocre armored, it's amazing.

I'm a new player and I'm trying to play Gneisenau in pvp, and I agree with what you said. I'm having an hard time against pretty much everyone else. They just stay at a distance and shoot at me from there, often setting me on fire at least more than once, I just can't get near enough to be effective without getting completely annihilated.

I played BB main for years, recently went DD and am so much happier.

Aside from gneisenau and bismarck there is nothing left to see in the german tech tree anymore as the GK has left the building.. Haven't grinded the Rupprecht yet but as Zeiten is so underwhelming I dont think I will grind it anytime soon. As u said, the first 5 minutes all you do is try to get to the range, and when you open fire you probably get burnt to crisp as u are in cruiser range.

Honestly the mainline German BB's need love. Either a Meta Shift or buffing them to better be able to do their job. I haven't played the BC's enough past Zeiten to give an opinion on them. They were the first line I grinded to T10 and I've suffered so much at the hands of fire monkeys to recommend them.

German BBs were my first line of the game because I loved the idea of being that heavily armored, swimming fort of secondaries. But we all know how that ended up. Decided to dip my toes into the French and Japan lines (up to tier V, nothing crazy) and immediately I was like "Holy fuck, I can actually hit stuff at long range reliably!"

I still personally enjoy the German line--though Hannover really feels inferior to the Preussen in almost every way--but I would never, ever recommend a newer player go up this line first or even 3rd. In fact, just skip the line altogether; it's that bad. There is no reason to play this line when almost every other line apart from the Italians is better at the things that matter. The only reason I still get a kick out of them is because I'm past caring about winrate and enjoy the challenge of making them work, and I have had some good games with them. In fact, my current highest damage dealt of 237k was obtained with the Preussen, and all of it was from the main batteries, and my 2nd highest amount dealt, 176k, was from the Scharnhorst in a tier 9 game.

That's sad as I just switched to grinding the German main line from the British line after getting to know that they are really squishy and don't have that great of guns.

Given Preussen can be played as ether a secondary ship or a main gun ship I'd still say the main line is a good choice for first BB. Main gun built she can manage an easy 20 second reload with Furious and a single fire, and her 457mm guns are better than at least I was expecting. Secondary's she is still a monster as well, being basically a Kurfurst that can overmatch 30mm. Now I can't speak for the BC line, honestly even just from shooting at them, they don't seem like a great line for new players. The only thing I could see being a problem for new players is FDG, good old Freddy isn't that great. Low range, basically no overmatch worth anything, low DPM. She's just not great to play. Though that could be said for a lot of T9 BBs, they tend to be not great to terrible. Looking at you Alsace. Honestly of any line I'd say currently the French BBs and British and German BCs are the worst for new players. They all have bad to terrible armor, and don't really play like a Battleship.

German BB line - simply put the armor DOES NOT work. It absorbs every thing. Sure you might not get citadeled but you eat AP all day taking 10 - 20k salvos all the time and you can barely angle to deflect their armor does not work and it's been like this for years. since just after the british BB line got intoduced the game changed.

Battleship design in the late 19th and early 20th centuries trends towards extending the range by mounting larger, further reaching, and more accurate guns, moving away from the mixed battery and hail of fire philosophy. Designing a battleship to be good at close range, with good secondary armament at the cost of main battery range, caliber, and accuracy, is essentially shooting yourself in the foot.

Me, having just got bismarck: wooooo lets go! :D Me, after seeing this video: *sad deutschland noises* still going to play it tho since its my highest tier and one of the few ships i really wanted to get when i started playing, just not exactly sure how best to play it since i feel very inconsistant moving from gneisenau to bismarck, and i dont just mean the game deciding i miss shells but more not sure why i tend to nonpen/bounce so much.

I think overall if someone new wants to play the game, and want to brawl, Italian BBs are a pretty solid choice, Good Secondaries, Good primary dispersion, SAP, and AP, and is overall one of the best lines in the game for BBs. It would be more worth the time, GK (GroBer Kurfurst) for German BBs are the best you can get for German BBs and it's pretty good but takes a lot of skill to play properly.

Realistically the easiest line to play is the Soviet line. Tier 7 and above are really strong ships, if not OP. The Japanese line is quite good also. But the line that teach you how to play a BB is the American main line (not the Standard-type Battleship line). NC is the perfect ship to learn how to shoot and bow tank.

If you are going all the way to Tier Send-in-the-Clowns (AKA Tier X or *) in battleships it needs to be the line with the most ridiculous impossible guns. 16” or lower caliber is functionally heavy cruiser at that level. Don’t see why anyone would “grind” out a line anymore. But that is me. You play your own game: there are ways to enjoy this game and for me it is more likely to be buying back a mid-tier ship I had thought was bad (but wasn’t). Maybe the Russians for accuracy and turret traverse speed?

The problem with German BBs line is Player's Brawling metality. they put all their points in Secondary build and can't hit anything at range or can't pen anything so they get frustrated and push in and getting farm to death and getting even more frustrated. The way I play GK or Preussen is the same way I play any other BBs except UK BBs those thing are basically superheavy cruiser. I build into Main gun and support my team, pushing in if my team having advantage kite away if our flank is lost. shoot ap at broadside ship and shoot he at angle ship. accept that you're not gonna deal as much damage as the ship with Overmatch accurate guns. but you have a better armor so you can conserve more hp and in the late game you can brawl. some game you just can't brawl or really do anything but kite. I unlocked a yamato and I only played it for like 40 games. I certainly enjoy German BBs more. in those games where you are forced to sit at range and snipe you gonna have to do in any other BBs anyway at least you have the option to brawl in the late game.

Gneisenau was the peak for me. I don't know why but I always dealt lower average dmg with the Bismarck and FDG compared to the Gneis

WG silently nerfed German bbs dispersion, they loose that decent horizontal dispersion.

I definitely agree that German BB line is a poor choice for a new player to grind out. They can be strong, but require a lot more skill and awareness than most new players have.

i have my preussen as a made in germany ohio with range mod which is not the optimal but a standard tank build at 23km with 24s reload is way better than brawler style. I m finishing with 150-200k damage every game except potato ones . But i agree with you on all you said

I personally think the US battleship line (Montana to be precise, and probably need to ignore everything before Tier 8 for good reasons) might be the better choice for those grinding BBs for the first time. Being the "first line", it need to teach the player what can be done, what can't be done, be rewarded with good plays and punished vise versa. While German BBs are great for pushing, I don't think it offers the same kind of lessons that can be learned from playing US BBs (with its "all-rounder" characteristics, US BBs will probably be more fun these days as well since you won't find yourself useless in certain scenarios).

I'm a new player and I rushed to the Bismarck knowing nothing about the game. Does all this still apply to German BB? Honestly I feel at times my shells are too inaccurate to hit targets. I feel completely outmatched getting deleted by other, possibly more meta, BBs. I feel encouraged to push given the good secondaries, but often get obliterated even in 1v1s when i thought I had the advantage. With the concealment meta, it's difficult to ever get my secondary batteries going. I feel weak and vulnerable inside 15 km, let alone 10 km. I've watched half my Salvo land at the waterline on a BBs broadside, and the other half fly over the super structure landing harmlessly into water. It happens so often it's honestly comical.

The main line German BBs can be pretty rough from 7 to 9 - Gneis, Bismarck, and Freddy are all pretty tough to play. Sure, when they work, they work great. But more often than not, they don't really work. This is especially true of Bismarck which is generally harshly uptiered, and will frequently be HE spammed regardless of the tiering. Russian BBs are boring, unless you like the nose-in play style. Right now, I favor the US BB line. Slow and clunky but are tough enough and hit hard. I enjoy the standard BBs from Wyoming all the way to Vermont. and if that isn't your thing, the fast US BB line (NC, Iowa, Montana) are also pretty great. I like the French BBs too.

The whole "Turtleback" thing is so misleading with that line. I mean sure unless the enemy taps you from extreme range with plunging AP salvos, it's pretty much impossible to citadel you. However, you take so much increased pen damage and fires to balance it, that in many cases your survivability is worse. I rather take a vulnerable citadel that punishes bad play but with a stout bow and deck armor to bounce AP/Shatter HE left right and center to reward good play and angling. I think that's why the Russian BB line just felt so much more engaging to play. Not to mention the gun accuracy is night and day better.

I agree. I would gladly trade a reload nerf for an accuracy buff in the Preussen (within reason of course). My first BB line was the Japanese, and I still think that's a good line to start with.

im new to WoWs but a lot of expirience in this kind of games... i think shliffen is more "like come and get personal with me on point if you dare" while other long range BatleShips are "i do not want to come even close to that thing" so those german BB shuld be exelent at making bufor zone for long range specialist... smf like mines and traps do for sniper in cover😅 what if we wuld lover dispersion and dmg of primary for german BB it wuld increase thay efective range while not incresing draticly dmg output( like main sorce of dmg is secondares while primary armament give you game impact in erlier stages)

I went for german line to get into brawls ;-; now everyone just camps at the back of the map and my german t6 premium bb just gets absolutely destroyed as it does not have turtleback at all.

One of the issues with brawling BB's, and this game in general. If you build for secondaries, you have to pretty much give up everything else. A rangy BB can build for survivability, but ships that are designed for brawling have to give up survivability attributes of a build. Ship builds do not synergize for role in game. Was hoping WG would fix this with the cpt skills rework but alas... German BB's need Fire Prevention baked-in.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe BBs are pretty good in low and mid tiers up to around tier 6. Talking about meta players mostly think about tier IX, X. I'm a almost 50 000 World of Tanks player with less than 300 battles in ships but playing a bit and read/watching much more about the game I see formula is rather similar. Both tanks and ships top tiers are stale, most boring and toxic, low tiers are fun but machines often dont get own characteristics there while mid tiers is a gold spot. I stopped my german BBs and Konig, maybe will buy reserched Bayern but that's no higher just mid tiers, same time I focus on russian blyat BBs :)

Agree with these points. Don't really know how I would improve them, but i think they should try to do something like Ohio. For beginners i think USN classic BBs or ijn ones are great. French are also decent.

I lost my marble playing through the Italian BB line From 5 to 8 the experience is absolutely pain

solid points in this video but I don't really care what is "good" or "meta". I play this game to have fun, when I want a competitive experience I just play a different came (like league or csgo). I am a cruiser main and I wanted to try to play more battleships so I picked german bc line purely because I think it looks fun.

Us cruiser line especially 5 and 6 are pure suffering,us bbs especially New york and Colorado have issues, us dds have good guns crap armor and torps but smoke that hangs around for awhile

I regrinded the German bbs recently and oh God I don't remember even the Bismark sucking that much

everyone needs to grind the US bb line first to learn what you can’t do in BB’s. then ijn, after kremlin then go in whatever order you want.

i would say the american BB are a great way to learn BB gameplay, they punish you when you overextand or show to much broadside, but are still tanky enough and have great firepower. and when you are lucky with grates you can get great secondary BB from them as well or the Ohio

For actual new players, I care about their first 3 hours, and if they get through that, their first 30 hours. A new player isn't going to get to tier 10 unless they're already loving the game and willing to put in hundreds of hours. New players don't know the maps. They don't have aiming in their muscle memory. They don't know the pacing of games, where they should be going, how they should be positioning. They are too overwhelmed by all of the things on the screen to pay attention to the minimap. Even if they know where they want to go, they struggle to control their ships. For those reasons, skill floor and minimizing the time penalty for mistakes is key. I recommend destroyers for new players. Rewarding or punishing feedback comes much faster for steering the ship, shooting the guns, and moving to positions on the map. This lets people learn faster without feeling like their time is being wasted. If a new player wants to try battleships, German battleships are a good option. Through tier 7, they have just as much ability to impact a battle as other battleships, with the added bonus of a slightly lower skill floor from being extra tanky and having shorter reloads.

Love the German BB line .................... In Ranked. with 7 enemies instead of 12 on the same sized map they are competitive and fun. But yea they are basically unplayable in randoms right now unless your a sucker for pain! Having all ur secondaries (and AA) ripped off by HE spam happens all the time in randoms and that's just a miserable experience tbh

I think that the Preussen game you showed here shows when the German BBs can actually be good, but the thing is that that game would have gone better in almost every other battleship.

Yeah I had a really hard time having an impact yesterday in my schlieffen, games were just so passive, I tried to play aggressive and just got focused and lost most of my health. Lots of situations where I could have played better, been more patient, and a lot of it came from frustration from previous games. I love schlieffen, but man its really frustrating and discouraging to play her when you constantly get these passive games and you just cant do anything.
