Can't blame the ref for trying to protect the wrestler since this isn't MMA. The only to correct this is a rule addition to reset the position or grant the takedown, which neither are great options.

Yea, they offered him position choice of top and bottom but that doesn’t rly help him in this situation. Should there be a penalty point?

Probably the takedown waived off at the end of Kilkeary vs Davis at 125 for Ohio State and PSU

@willflum2847 the Kilkeary Davis takedown was not waved off. It was never called. Reviewed. And then the original call was confirmed. That being said it should have been a takedown.

Titled it this since Bartlett upset would have changed the final score from 22-13 to 19-16 and that’s not accounting for the huge momentum change that would benefit Nebraska after this match. Could easily see something like Michigan vs Iowa happening here if this upset came imo 🤷‍♀️

@@RebelsWrestlingHypeHouse I get someone might think that, but name 1 match that might have changed after 141lbs. From 157 on, no one on Penn states lineup is blowing their match. Haines, messinbrink, Starocci, brooks, kerkvliet…those guys weren’t losing their matches regardless. They are the ones who create momentum, not cave in to it. Worst case scenario it’s 19-16. Hats off to Nebraska though.

I feel like if this match was at Nebraska it would’ve had a different story, i still feel bartlett wouldve won.

You would be saying the same thing if the official didn't stop it and Bartlett had a season ending injury. The official did the correct thing in stopping the match. At the 49 second mark of the video, is the hold that was against the knee joint. The knee is isolated and Hardy is pulling on the ankle. Sorry, your knee does not bend that way. Correct call by the official looking out for the safety of the wrestlers.

I gotta respectfully disagree . The refs would be stopping Cary Kolats matches anytime Cary defended a shot.

Could be argued either way, both sides are valid, but I have seen a lot worse looking positions not called by refs
