Today we talk about the worst classes in school. These classes were trash and for most of them I never used any skills I learned from them ever again.

@@jaki109 labs and projects were fun sometimes in science, but if I was alone or didn’t get to chose my partner it got tedious fast, my average science class involved memorizing formulas from a book and so much damn writing, we wrote in science 10% more than English or any of my other classes, if I already knew what to write than putting it down in the form of a paragraph was always the time consuming part, every lab I had after elementary school school had to be summarized in an essay that other students could read, if not, a slide presentation and diagram were necessary. As someone who can’t live with themselves not having all A’s, those classes were hell. I’ve always hated PE because no matter how good I am at a sport, other students take it too seriously, screaming, talking bad about people who mess up, etc. If I can’t tolerate my possible teammates, why would I try in the first place? As soon as I mess up they’d make fun of me. Not even mentioning the forced participation, the coach is always screaming at other students to throw the ball to me and I’ve gotten to the point of specifically saying before a game that believing in my abilities will only lead to downfall, in things like softball forcing everyone in the line to go, and again, if you have no friends in the class you’re screwed. Warm ups were fine, but as soon as we start the game I did the bare minimum, I’ve already always been an active person, I work out often… but I despised that class

My favorite subject was shop class, (mostly woodworking) it was so nice seeing the finished product. The worst part of shop class was when we had to weld in the metal unit in shop class. I had to weld this toy truck and I kept melting and burning the metal. I still enjoyed the metal unit but my metal truck looked like Helen Keller made it. Shop class is so fun and madly underrated.

Every class from grade 3 or somethin to my grade 8 had to do this. Currently in College, doing maths, higher level math, English, Biology, Chemistry and Religous study, though English, maths and Religous study was kinda forced. I like science subjects, they are pretty cool, but school makes it so boring. I actually hate a lot of my tests and assignments but what I am learning are so interesting. Learning about logistics and the perfection of human nature, but boiling it down to a bunch of useless assessments that would barely be used in life is honestly sad.

History is my favorite subject just because of my sixth and seventh grade teachers. One was a semi-old man (maybe in his 40s) who was really hyped up, and he can already preach because he also preaches at a church. The seventh grade guy was a guy in his mid 20s who could make jokes about the subject and did more fun lectures than work. He was the laid back teacher that wasn't the "Just go wild and get on your phones" laid back. He actually taught us and I passed that class easy. I only fell asleep in either of their classes once.

Marching band is so stupid, it has absolutely nothing to do with music. In fact, the music suffers due to the overwhelming focus on marching. Plus, you were required to give up nearly every Friday for home football games, which I'm sure quite a few in band didn't even care about. I think that is the largest issue with band and high school, marching band should have been completely optional.

My art teacher hated students who drew in an animated style. At the time I was watching Hellsing Ultimate and started reading the manga, so I aspired to do that type of art style (those who've read the Hellsing manga, you'll know just how badass the character designs were like Alucard and Alexander Anderson). She failed me because it got to a point where I just didnt care because she demanded that we drew stuff in a realistic fashion. My friends enjoyed the zombies I drew though because I stepped away from the typical designs and looked to films like Frankenstein's Army and John Carpenter's The Thing for inspiration

In Elementary School we had something called "Encore classes" which basically are classes we had to go to. They're categorized into 4 sections. Music, P.E. Art, and Band. In Music class, my music teacher forced us all to sing, like we were in Choir. And for whatever reason he had a problem with me. Probably because I wasn't singing. As for Art class, that was the worst for me as my art teacher would exoect her students to be like Piccaso or Da Vinci and would target me for not drawing the way she expects me too. Moving onto P.E. the teacher was chill. She was one of the best P.E. teachers I could've had. She was compassionate and she wanted her students to have fun.

I say if you stick with STEM (science tech engineering math), then half these classes are essential not just because they want you to do it, because you need it to understand your job. Also history I learned is better for predicting the future, it is previous data showing what did and did not work. Analyzing why something happened and the applying it to today is very interesting. Sadly a lot of history is taught in a very non engaging way by making you remember dates and names. But if you properly engage with the history, you would not have to forcefully remember, you would just know because of the interest. I never liked history in school, but when I left for home school and college without taking a history course, I grown to love it more and study on my own time out of interest. I became more proficient at learning history outside of classes. Because classes focus on a lot of unimportant information and dumb terminology. History is a way to catch up the lore of your universe so you know why everyone is in the position they are in. Just because you hate a subject in school does not mean you will not like it outside of it. I also agree, science classes in middle school are ass and I don’t consider science. They focus on unimportant and uninteresting topics such as the rocks. The topics I find in college are way more interesting mainly because you are not just knowing a terminology for a certain thing going on, you are straight up doing the thing with a device in lab class or conducting the calculations in lecture. Fuck middle, fuck high school, and fuck 1st year college classes.

Question, what topics would you find interesting for Science class? I'm 22 and currently teaching science from 4th to 9th. though 4th to 6th like learning whatever, I´m having a hard time selecting topics for the older ones. Disclaimer, keep in mind, I don´t live in the USA and also that we don´t have access to a lab or fancy stuff. Any recommendation shall be appreciated.

My most hated classes were: High School Freshman Year Biology(75 final grade), same year Financial Lit(C- final grade), and Sophomore year Honors Geometry(84 final grade). English was also boring, but otherwise alright. Senior year Humanities though, is pretty nice. Art, Architecture and music in the same class. Legit one of my favorite classes in high school.

My school isn’t great, but they got some really nice classes, like there’s video games studies, metal work and welding, digital design, digital animation. Next year they’re making new English classes like manga studies and true crime, anyway some schools really need more funding

Bro I had an art teacher that was exactly like that. In 5th grade, my art teacher was a complete dick, because every time me and my friend did a single thing wrong, she would scream at us and always tell us to redo our entire drawing. Even if it’s a small piece of color outside the box that’s barely noticeable, she would tell us to use a new paper, even if we can erase it.

1. I was mostly fine with music classes but I agree playing the recorder sucked. I would've rather done ukulele (which thankfully now some music teachers teach instead of recorder). 2. Sounds like the teacher was the bigger problem than the subject itself in your case. Anyways art class was fun for me, even though I'm not very good at it. 3. At the elementary level when I was just learning to write and read short stories and such it was fine, but I didn't like my English classes at the middle/high school level. For me it was a problem of motivation rather than skill. I was perfectly capable of doing the work, I just didn't want to do it. Too many essays I didn't want to write and books I didn't want to read. I enjoy reading and writing on my own terms, but I hated having to do assignments for school. 4. History class to me is similar to English class in that I actually don't mind engaging with the subject ON MY OWN TERMS, but I hated the classes. You can learn a lot more interesting stuff about history just by browsing the internet. I agree with you that history classes were boring and the assignments just felt like more burdensome work I didn't want to do. 5. I'm not a very athletic person but gym was actually one of my favorite classes in school. One of the only classes I consistently liked since it was one of the only opportunities you'd get to actually move around and play rather than just having to sit at a desk and listen to a teacher blab. So like art, even though I wasn't good at the actual skills, it was still fun to do. 6. Math classes were the bane of my existence. At least I could sort of understand English and History classes even though they bored the heck out of me. Math class was boring AND I didn't understand it at all. My worst subject in school. 7. I'm with you on geology, easily the least interesting science class. Biology though is actually kinda cool. But yeah, I generally wasn't a big fan of science classes in school after the elementary level either. And I didn't take a full chemistry class but there was a chemistry unit in one of the agricultural science classes I took in high school and yeah I hated it too. 8. Health class is important but yeah, schools could definitely go about teaching it better.

our school was also an I.B. school so we had a lot of extras that were available to people, IB or none IB. as far as instruments and such; i chose join/ sign up for band / music to play an instrument and sing , no one forced us to join band or orchestra. and we had required classes for graduation but we also had electives we could choose and we had some ability to choose between this or that required course options. so we were not completely stuck on a one and only track thankfully.

Bro I absolutely hated learning to play the recorder in school. Mostly because I would always forget the stupid thing and end up having to get detention aka completely loose all your recess time because of it. I hated playing the recorder so much that I decided join the band class to get out of it ( in my elementary school if you join the band classes you don’t have to go to the regular music class) so I ended up playing the trombone instead which was actually kind of fun because the band teacher was soooo much better than our regular music teacher.

I’m in middle school currently and a week ago in math class we were learning “factorization” “factorization” is stupid because you’re taking simplest form ( the shortened equation ) and turning it back to longer and harder version!?! I asked my math teacher what were going use this for and she said “you’re going to use it in future classes “, screw that. School does not teach you how to memorize stuff, it teaches you how to memorize things temporarily and then immediately forget it to “learn” something else

I think you have misunderstood what factorization actually is. It helps you with square root extraction (factor integerization), finding the most common divisor and least common multiple.
