I was looking at a top 10 villain list yesterday and Galactus was on it. I had never heard of him. Apparently he's in Silver Surfer, which I actually have seen. He must've been glossed over or not worth remembering. A shame for a character apparently very big in comics. I mean I didn't like Spidey 3 but I at least know who Sandman and Venom are.

Finn Saunders Heath's Joker, while great, was just a creepy, evil anarchist. Magneto was more well-rounded character, who is in the same time great leader and villain while also good friend with Charles. Ian McKellen captured his character perfectly.

The FF movie was plagued with bad writing and all around awfulness that you can't pin solely on Doom. While BvS had its moments but was deeply hurt by Eisenberg's overall performance. But don't get me wrong that peach tea bit was legend!

I agree it should have been Eisenberg. Electro didn't kill TASM2. That's like arguing that evil Parker should have been a finalist for SM3 or Galactus for Rise of the Silver Surfer. The problem I have with Eisenberg's Lex Luthor is that he comes off so much as someone who's trying to be iconoclastic. Like he saw how much respect and adoration Heath Ledger gets for switching up a well known and well loved character in a pretty unique way, and decided that Lex Luthor was his chance to shine. Which it was, but he seems to try too hard to be different.

Her comment about the granny's peach thing was only said so Lex Luthor could reference it later in the movie. When she said it, it literally made no sense.

I also don't expect stupidity in my massive DC films but unlike you, I don't like it.

Don't forgot the fact the faceless Swarm from Suicide squad, only reason they were even in the film was as filler because of how so clearly outclassed the squad were haha. Enjoyed the dumb stupid loud movie though.

Lex Luthor was a very interesting character, and 95% of audiences have never experienced how awesome he is. He was the perfect circle of wheels. Then these guys put their unique spin on it and instead of a circle, they use an octogon. Still works, but is ultimately pointless, and a huge disappointment. I see no proof of that. He spits out one line that could suggest that, but other that there's nothing. Does he simply want Supes dead? Does he want the world to not believe in Gods? His plan is never clear.

Wlof25 The classic Lex Luthor is much more than a jealous rich guy. He is a genius, he's charismatic, handsome, in peak physical condition. He is the "perfect human". Then along comes Superman, who is better at everything. Part of his hatred is jealously, part of it is fear at what Superman can do. What he hates most though is that Superman has all this power, but doesn't use it to bring change to the world. He could solve so many problems but he chooses to avoid "politics", and the people still love him for it. Nobody in their right mind would say that Eisenberg's Lex is better than the comics. Why bother trying to fix something that's not broken? Why not make a completely new character and not use Lex Luthor's name? "Putting their own unique spin on the characters" has given us Fant4stic, Venom from Spiderman 3, Mandarin from Iron Man 3, and the new Ghostbusters. Sticking to the source material has given us Spiderman 2, the Arkham games, pretty much every animated DC movie ever, and (to an extent) Watchmen.

Sometimes people need to clarify their distaste for characters. I found his character fine and don't have any issue with changing it a bit from comics. I get if people don't like a big change, but I'd like to know whether they're saying they didn't like the character or how it was changed.

I don't liked him as character. That itself speaks about the changes from the comics. His acting was really bad. One of the best things about Luthor is his calmness. He knows he has everyone in his hands. He acts confident and you look at him and say: "wow, that man is a genius". You look at Jesse's Luthor and you say: "wow, he's crazy". That totally kills the character, even if he is Real Luthor's Son. And he doesn't rely on plot convenience? C'mon man. His plan was ridiculous by the very beginning. If Clark and Bruce didn't acted as little childs, they could knowed Luthor plans inmediately

Ledger is super played out. Also, the Nolan's Batman universe is a complete separate entity, those movies are NOT comic book films, literally. If we use the recent MCU and DCU, leaving the Dark Knight trilogy alone with the obvious Ledger choice, imo Wilson Fisk is the best villain. Loki is not a full-fledged villain, he is just a lovable character because Hiddleston is very charismatic. As a villain, he didn't do much, almost always gets humiliated in the end (also, the old and previsible story about the hatred among brothers). I love him, but Fisk is waaaaay more intimidating. That scene when Murdock tries to threat him in the prison... Man, his reaction was something scary. Also, the whole story of him being in love with Vanessa and shit, he is a very humanized villain. Same goes for Kilgrave, but he is not as charismatic as Loki. For me, the best villains are: Fisk Loki Kilgrave Reverse Flash Winter Soldier (he looks awesome)

Agreed, but for me, the worst thing a villain can be is bland; I'd rather have a bad villain that's at least fun or funny to watch, than a boring villain who's name alluded me for a good year after seeing the movie. For me, Electro was heavily flawed, but at least his powers and effects were interesting. And Nuclear Man is just Hilarious to watch.

I haven't seen 'Spider-Man 3' in years but I loved Venom when that movie came out and I was a kid. He's definitely fun. There is really nothing wrong with that depiction of the character. He's simply not like the comic book/TV series versions.

Performance affects a character one way or another. Street fighter Movie (the first one of course)...Raul Julia gave a hell of a performance and even if plan was not super complex or something, and movie was a failure in a way, he acted well enough to make Bison feel magnificent. When was his plan to kill Batman? When was that motivation ever established. He might not have cared if Batman died, but that wasn't remotely his goal. And whether his plan was good or stupid does matter. He created a monster he can't possibly control or even stop since Batman took his kryptonite. A monster that would have killed everything after enough time passed. What kind of stupid plan was that?

Unfortunately this version of Lex fell victim to bad directing, bad casting, or most likely a combination of those two. If his character had a different name, either original or pre-existing in the DC universe, it would have been fine. I don't fault Eisenberg for it one bit.

I agree, all these comic purist arguments make no sense. So he was different, but he wasn't bad. I thought Lex was an excellent villain, which I say with zero prior experience with any other villain of the same title. The character twist brought a different feel to an otherwise very dark and brooding movie. If not for Jesse Eisenberg's portrayal, I think the movie would be very tonally flat.
