In order to have the worst record over 82 games, they can only win 6 more. The 72-73 76ers went just 9-73. The worst winning percentage goes to the Bobcats when they went 7-59 in a lockout shortened season. By going 8-74 the Pistons would claim both records.

I honestly think Wemby is getting the rookie Bron treatment from his teammates. I think Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, and picks need to be packaged for an elite level point guard (if possibly available).
@AdolphSaxOfficial7 ай бұрын
I feel like it's Pop trying to force guys into playing his way, and being overly fearful of them becoming too reliant on Wemby and making him the system. He has them overcomplicating the game, trying to play "spurs basketball" when most of the time it really is as simple as getting the ball to your best player in his spots. I respect it, but at the same time it's giving me Bill Belichick vibes acting like the system is more important than talent. Maybe he feels like letting Wemby shine will come at the expense of the team & his program, but dude it's 2023. Talent sells tickets & talent wins games. There's no logical reason why he should be getting ignored in the paint with obvious advantages.

That’s a dumb idea. Vassell and Keldon are on affordable contracts and are clearly two of the Spurs better players. Vassell is a three level scorer and Keldon is one of the few who can get the ball to Wemby consistently despite what Rusty may think. Also who is this elite level point guard they are going to get? All the good guards are on playoff teams and don’t line up with the Spurs timeline. Point guard will be addressed after this year most likely in the draft. Spurs have bigger problems defensively than offensively imo.
@bedstuy4_l8956 ай бұрын
@@nicholaskatsikas4904 I guess drafting a point guard would be the better option especially with the guard talent in this upcoming class (there are a number of point forwards as well, but I doubt the Spurs would want a repeat of the Jeremy Sochan experiment). There are a couple young star point guards in imploding situations that could be possible trade candidates this offseason such as Darius Garland, LaMelo Ball, Trae Young, and Cade Cunningham (a cheaper option), but none of them are guaranteed or even likely to be traded.

They just don't know how to do basic things. Honestly, I don't know how most of them got to this level of basketball except on pure talent and/or physical gifts. I stopped watching them when I saw full games with players running to the other end of the court after every shot and not even trying for rebounds. Maybe they've corrected that but that shouldn't happen with any professional team. I've watched almost every minute of the Spurs this year. The "Wemby doesn't get the ball enough" narrative is nonsense. He gets it more than anyone on that team BY FAR. You can see it in his usage rating. They were complaining about him not getting the ball during that Bulls game 1) when his teammate had just made an easy floater, 2) when Wembanyama had camped out at the three point line, where he's quite literally one of the worst in the entire NBA, and 3) when the defender was in position to intercept the pass. The Bulls front court players were bullying him out of position. It doesn't help him to blame his teammates instead of him just working on being better at getting position. People want to believe the issue is his teammates because Wembanyama hasn't shown what they thought he would yet. Another thing he was supposed to do was be able to create his own shot off the dribble. I have MAYBE seen him do that like 4 times, and that's being generous. People throw out this "generational talent" phrase without any justification. Maybe he is, maybe he isn't. But I'd say to look at the Bulls the year before Jordan and the year after Jordan or the Cavs before Lebron and after Lebron. Those guys had immediate massive impacts on winning.

Which is objectively false, Steph Curry, Chauncey Billups, Dwyane Wade, Isiah Thomas are all examples of this. If she had said unlikely, it would have been a valid take, but she based Brunson not being a #1 based on his height rather than his skill. Also, it’s disrespectful to all the small guards that could have been a #1 on a championship team but didn’t because of circumstances (Westbrook, CP3, Iverson) And yes, while I agree that there are a lot of people that jumped on her because she’s a women with an opinion, I strongly disagree that this was a good opinion. Nah the Becky Hammond take was fucking stupid. It would still be fucking stupid if anyone else said it. He’s not the typical formula for a championship caliber leader but he’s good enough to possibly do it provided he stays healthy and gets a more competitive roster around him
@GodbodyRoku7 ай бұрын
Them that would be in route to Isaiah Thomas route.. they constructed a great team around him.. same with Steph but steph is lights out. Brunson is on the Knicks and have a history of doing the dumbest shit and never really can really build a team. Brunson in order to be in the same name has to have an actual team built around.. an ensemble of players like Rusty said in the video.

Isiah thomas was undersized and led his pistons too back to back championships in 89-90. Yes the pistons were a Great team on both sides of the court but he was the clear number 1 scoring option and the best player on that team. But besides him no other small guatd

Surely you just forgot to mention Bojan in your “real NBA players list” for the Pistons?
@homerthompson4167 ай бұрын
As a Spurs fan the most frustrating thing is how awful Sochan is. It takes balls to dye your hair and wear Rodman's number and then have a defensive FG% on par with Trae Young's and in the bottom third of the league. Feels like the Sochan PG experiment was Pop hoping he'd find some way to be able to get Sochan on the floor but he's useless and the only thing he does competently is shoot FTs. Having Primo and Sochan as your lottery picks in back to back years makes the front office look almost as incompetent as the coach.

Pop trying to force it, everyone can see it Pop thinks he’s smarter than he really is
@xylynthian7537 ай бұрын
Trae actually hustles his ass off on defense now. He's just too small to properly contest shots against anyone taller than 6'2", and the defensive scheme the Hawks run does him no favors either. He's a better defender than the stats would have you believe.
@PassivesAbseits6 ай бұрын
The Pistons right now are the perfect argument against the lottery and gifting awful franchises the most talented players. Cunningham, unless he risks it all on his 5th year option, is stuck there for what... 7 to 9 years? All this loosing will be really bad for his developement as a player and his reputation. And it is not as if the Pistons suddenly turned into a shitshow. They have been bad on as an oragnisation for a decade. But as a reward, they get another Top 3 pick, they can ruin. Hopefully, someone offers Cade a 1+2 deal as an unrestricted free agent, so he can get out ASAP. But there seems to be a bro code between the GMs, not to offer short deal with lots of player options to unrestricted free agents...

Brunson can be a first option in a finals team if you mix him with the right components being great shooters and defenders and some dirty players like Detroit or golden state had to protect their smaller stars
@liferealgood7 ай бұрын
Idk why it’s so hard to understand. ESPN love generating clickbait. That’s all this was. Brunson can be a #1 option on a title contending team. The team currently isn’t a title contender. I think they need at least two more players. Preferably a 3-D wing, and a backup PF.
@leonbrumett61556 ай бұрын
Jalen Brunson is closer to Fred VanVleet than a guy like Tyreese Haliburton, and I don’t even know if Hali can be a number 1 on a championship team. No one is saying he’s a bad player, but who are you kidding. He could never be the #1

Hey, you gotta put some respect on Zekes name. 4 guys with 9k assists. Magic, Stockton, Oscar and Zeke. Youre talking about a legend. The Badboys an ensemble... so what were the showtime lakers, Bird Celtics and Jordan Bulls? You know, the teams that all had 5 hall of famers on them at points in their runs. And he beat them all. Zeke was the superstar, he was the one that made them the bad boys. He took an "ensemble" against superteams and won. One of the best point guards in history and arguably the best of his era with Stock and Magic in the league. He also didnt have Karl Malone, James Worthy, Larry Bird, Kareem... if Zeke goes to one of those teams and plays with legends, like all the other legends got to do in that era, we talk about that man differently. He led a team that was hated by the nba officials to back to back championships and really got robbed out of a 3peat and he did it against 3 of the best dynasties in NBA history. Steph had way more fucking help than Zeke, so you really need to switch that narrative around. Zeke is that guy thay you're giving Steph credit for being
@joel86927 ай бұрын
Zeke definitely deserves credit for his performance vs the Lakers in the finals game 6 when he scored 25 on an injured ankle to win the championship. Also Steph definitely had more help on the warriors when KD was on the team but the warriors from 2015-2016 that won a ring and set a record with 73-9 and lost in the finals vs cavs was a super team. The pistons actually can be compared player for player with pre KD warriors and they match up good.

Still not worse than the bobcats imo even tho they might break that crazy 26 game loss streak reasoning for this for me is that that bobcats team had no real like good prospective players other than I think kemba but this team has Cade jaden Ivey asur and Jalen duren are all players w significant upside and from my prospective that’s the difference I would agree if we were saying the pistons were the worst disappointing team tho not I worst overall cuz I actually thought this team had some upside

I said earlier this year that the pistons should strip the young core down to three dudes Cade Durren Ausar and surroun them with vets who can get them wins. I think they would b aprime place for the bulls vets in carrusso torey craig and drummond. Two solid bench vets and a starter in carusso
