It truly is sad. And they will stay, sometimes forever, in it even though everyone knows they should leave. Very similar to DV victims that will continue to stay through the worst hell on earth but still love and stay with the abuser. This is a stark example of a man who has been so emotionally and mentally fucked by this goblin that he doesn't even realize it.
