When I was young back in 1960 airports would let you go out and watch planes take off and land. My grandfather and his sons where all fighter pilots in war. From mustang to jets. He would bring me every Sunday flying with him at a small local air strip you could rent a cesna to a piper or Cherokee to a beach craft. He would let me steer after we reached altitude. Till this day I've been fascinated by planes and I'm 61. I did have a pilots license on a tug boat for Conoco marine,but that's not the same. Great videos as always.

Your ability to talk through your checklists and decision making at every point in the flight reminds me of my CFI training and the best instructor I ever had. She would always tell me to sit on my hands and use my mouth (and hopefully brain) to talk to my students and let them fly. You achieve the same effect (of course while flying!). As training videos, also for turboprop transition, and not to mention the awesome landscapes and flying, your videos are fantastic. Thank you.

I really appreciate your quiet professionalism and willingness to explain why you are doing what you do in the cockpit. Being a pilot myself. Flying over the Chesapeake Bay we were taught to take shoe or article of clothing and push the door ajar and use the shoe or article of clothing to wedge it open before impact. I use to help run a ground survival course with the FAA and we taught how to put a small survival kit together that weighed 10pounds. It goes everywhere with me. You never know.

Continue to keep the routine of verbalized setup for takeoff and landing; also for inflight navigation as well as decision making for mountain flying. It makes it a pilot flying experience in addition to the beautiful scenery. Thanks for sharing your flying experience.

Thanks for this. I flew into Hoskins and stayed in Kimbe for two nights as a short break from a month project in Port Moresby. Fortunately I had good weather so I enjoyed a snorkel and kayak.

Lot to think about at all times when flying, wow. It's stressful in my flight sim-pit, can't imagine what it's like in the mountains and chasing gauges. I realize you however, don't chase, you stay ahead of everything. Bravo captain !!

Nice. Just before watching this, I flew the same trip on MSFS2020 in the Caravan. I used real time/weather, which would be 11AM 9/12 there. First third of the trip was clear, the clouds at about 35-4000. I don't to IFR, (also not a RW pilot) , so I got lower and followed one of the river valleys through the light rain/clouds on my GPS map and hit the coast east of Gasmata... then landed on 27 on my second pass. Fun!!

I am really enjoying your videos (non-pilot). You flew one that I watched a few days ago from Wewak to Maramuni. . .fantastic flight. I was going to use your info from that flight (you indicated there was a link in the description) but the two that I found didn't have what I was looking for. Anyway I used the basic info to set it up and fly using a Kodiak outfitted similar to what you fly. Great fun and I have to say even though I'm just a Sim pilot there was a bit of apprehension on base as I looked for the rwy. . .TD around 65kts (full flaps). You make it look easy. Thanks for letting us be a part of your experiences.

Fantastic scenery over there, never been in that area, great flight. Weather reports are so critical. I remember one came through over the mission sked, it was stated that there was 8/8th of blue cloud!!.........thanks for the flight, regards Roger

After watching this video I flew some PNG highland flights with live weather turned on in MSFS. With cloud cover / rain many of these small bush airports are very dangerous. I have a new appreciation for what you do in your daily job. Great work!

yes as we get into rainy season, there will probably be more weather related flights. If we have a good weather report for our destination, we go. I had a good wx report for this location, but the person giving it was a little too optimistic IMO

Our IMB pilot and mission used a 206 Turbo and a Grand Caravan we shared with AIM's fleet and Samaritan's Purse, which included a DC3. LOVED the work. Lots of flying into South Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania, and Kenya. What a blessing to see God at work all over the horn of Africa. I am very proud of you and the work/ministry you provide in PNG. I have you on my prayer list. Stay safe. Grace and peace to you and your family as you serve in this unique way.

Is it better to do flights in the morning in West New Britain? I had an opportunity to go with one of the NTM pilots into the Gimi to pick up 2 men, that were flown in earlier to mow the airstrip. Missionaries were on furlough. Weather was bad and rainy, but was able to land. The men had hiked to the house on other side of the river (30 min. hike) to find food. No way to communicate. The rain and clouds socked us in, and the pilot and i had to hike and stay the night with the other 2 men. We only found rice and canned mackerel to eat. The 206 sat out in the rain all night. Got out the next morning. What a fun outdoor experience. Enjoyed the video. You all are in my prayers!

The problem with the islands is the north 1/2 is in dry season, and the south half is in rainy season, so no matter what, 1/2 the island has bad weather almost every day.
