I very much enjoyed this video. God has only spoken to me twice in my life, once, after some morning prayers I heard "Enjoy your day", and once while I was practicing flow yoga on my mat He/She said: Your breath is your life." Very profound, very unforgettable. Namaste to all my yoga brothers and sisters.🙏🕉️💛

meditation is the foundation of yoga. i was surprised that so many of these more advanced yoga practitioners had yet to implement meditation in their practice. goes to show just how many westerners get into yoga solely to practice asana and to obtain an aesthetically pleasing physique. yoga is as much about the mind as it is the body...

That is how I got into this too. And Yoga was not brought as a whole practice to the west. It was brought in parts form people like Parmahansa Yogananda, Vivikananda, Iyengar etc. It did bring me to the other aspects of Yog, mantra, Sadhana, tapas etc. I think it is beautiful that Yog is spreading across the world. I felt called to Bharat for training because I wanted to experience it's fullness.

Interesting! But I would change the title to "Video and comments on Shelley Tomczyk's Yoga Teacher Training in India"
@jazzlehazzle6 жыл бұрын
This feels more like an advertisement for Shelley as a yoga teacher and her training. Were we not going to see much about yoga as the lifestyle of its native inventors? Feeling misled.

Felt the same watching the first five minutes. Accept ... and move on

I have to be honest and say I felt the same. A lot of nice white women sitting around talking about Shelley, and how 200 hours versus 300 hours is so different. Meanwhile, the Swamis and sadhus and babas sitting outside have probably thousands of hours of asanas alone. I truly wonder how comfortable these women would be being told to wake up and wash floors before morning puja and meditation in an Indian ashram, or to japa 1008 times for an hour and a half straight.

Yoga has been miss interpreted and become a big business.. It has a lot of factors of knowledge not only physically practice but also spiritualitualy.
@vinamrasinghai73197 жыл бұрын
And who has the authority to decide the correct interpretation? So those who dont believe in spirit cannot do Yoga? What is your definition of spirituality?
@jazzlehazzle6 жыл бұрын
Sure you can. You just have to be open to experiencing unity, even if you aren't wanting to call that "spirit." Even w/out unity, you can at least do the exercise, but then, that's not actually "yoga." That's just "asana" (the poses that can support yoga). Any extent from asana to yoga is plenty healthy & plenty awesome. Just know there's always a further extent available if you want it. At a far enough extent of mind and body awareness, we lack words, so we call it "spirit," and call one path towards experiencing that "yoga." But never mind much about words, just about meeting & accepting the truths of your body, staying on your comfortable edge of challenge, and letting that lead you to forgetting yourself, just bc that feels good. Navigating the poses is a great metaphor for life. Or you can just enjoy a great workout. Whatever works for you. Is the only point :)
