i love this quote so much. Best way to keep it realistic in my opinion because i don't think he had anything particular against Aldo, it's just that 1) it was a good way for Conor to handle the huge pressure and 2) it might have an impact on his opponent so it was a win/win (which, as we know, turned out to be the case). It's such a good way to dodge the question to keep his rythme.

@JL-uq6qe2 жыл бұрын
But bro came very close to putting Poriers lights out several times in the first round. Had Dustin's chin been just a little weaker, your entire narrative would have shifted. I think the MMA community can learn from McGregor now that that obsessive mentality eventually must turn to a professional mentality. Porier said himself directly after he KO'd McGregor that he doesn't love the sport anymore. It's not always about passion, it's about being a man, doing your duty, and staying responsible. McGregor too appears less youthful in his promotion, but look at how his body has morphed since the Khabib fight, the man is still very dedicated to his craft and I respect him for that.
@JL-uq6qe2 жыл бұрын
Btw these are paragraphs I've kinda had in my head for a while that I decided to reply to you, don't mean to take it all out on you or anything lol It's just that it's too common I see MMA fans looking up to the winners and looking down on the losers, when in fact they are both worthy of admiration, being that they are at the top of their sport.
@MarkWalmsley2 жыл бұрын
@@JL-uq6qe "being a man, doing your duty and being responsible" him not doing these things are some of the reasons he is disliked. You say he nearly put Dustin away but because he has a good chin he didn't, you can literally say that about anything, the fact is Dustin was never in trouble, tell me where I can see in the fight where Dustin was wobbled, it doesn't exist as I've watched it many times. I don't just go off of the commentators saying "he's really hurt dc" because often their comments are accurate. I think sometimes they are watching the fight through the cage rather than the monitor so their view isn't great, if not that then I can't explain their bad commentating. Look I don't think Conor wasn't a good fighter but he wasn't as good as we think he was, let's break it down: At 145 he did very well but was a large guy at the weight and was often taller than his opponents by a good few inches. We knew he didn't have a good wrestling game and the first time he came up against a good wrestler we saw him in trouble, Chad mendez was able to hold him down for a good amount of time. He then moves up and fights nate, a legit 155 but not elite, he got beat by being choked. He then had a rematch which many think he lost, I don't care but it was super close. He then fights Eddie who was in over his head in terms of striking ability and the attention the fight got, however Eddie was known for not showing up and he was at the end of his career best. He then fights khabib and gets mauled. So basically he did very well at 145 but when he got to his natural weight he was exposed for not having good grappling and because he wasn't able to beat people by being the bigger guy. Conor was flashy and charismatic and in the right place at the right time.
@MarkWalmsley2 жыл бұрын
@@JL-uq6qe I don't look up to winner and down on losers, I'm sure others do and like you said this necessarily aimed at me. I have plenty of fighters who I just enjoy their style but it's natural for someone to enjoy winners as they often perform the best. I respect you didn't come at me in a rude and disrespectful manner however I think some of your arguments aren't very well thought out or explained.
