Datura is no joke. Ive heard some wild horror stories, and most people seem to have bad trips on it and regret using it in any form (smoke, tea, eat).

No one with "Morgellons" has ever been found to have fibers or parasites in their skin.

Obviously not that dude but for a normal person that would just be an issue of not taking a shower as often or maybe just skin irritation from bugs that you can't see microscopically.

There’s a pretty good movie out there called Bug (2006) starring Ashley Judd and Michael Shannon that is about this phenom. Also, the IRL case of someone referred to as the Vampire Kelly (NSFL rabbit hole warning if you look it up). In the past few years there have been a rise in bird mite infestations which can drive people crazy with itching and the skin-crawling feeling when their eggs hatch in the skin. They are incredibly tiny but impactful and very hard to eradicate once infested. People have torn their skin to shreds from the itch and been misdiagnosed with psych disorders as a result. It’s all a complex grab bag of issues for sure.

Last month, there was an incident where my mom, while talking on the phone, suddenly rushed to the hospital. She explained that her aunt had mistakenly fed my uncle Datura by stir frying it. It seems that her aunt had heard from someone that consuming Datura might help with his health complications, so she decided to stir fry it to make it easier to consume with rice. Shortly after consuming it, my uncle started vomiting, coughing up blood, and then fainted. He was immediately taken to the hospital as his pulse rate was rapidly dropping. Thankfully, he received timely treatment and his life was saved. Datura is commonly found in grassy fields, bushes, and footpaths throughout my country as it is a wild plant. Despite its medicinal properties, it is often overlooked and mistaken for regular grass or a wild plant, so consuming it is not considered. There are many old wives' tales about its dangerous effects if consumed.

Once my nephew when he was really small had this feet fall asleep and felt obdormition, and then he said "there are cockroaches in my feet". At first I was WTF, but then I got it, from siting in the car on a long trip makes this. Walking around fixed it.

Most of these can be described as mental illness amplified by drug abuse some it is just mental illness and needing a shower I remember when I was in middle school walking with some friends near a strip mall going to get burgers from the DQ when a strange man said help it is under my skin the friend who had a cellphone called 911 and started recording after giving the nearest address a used furniture store we thought that he was stabbed or something because of blood no dude was mentally ill, had 3 different drugs on him, and freaked out more when both the cops and ambulance arrived and we saw him digging at his skin all the way until he was handcuffed to the strecher

Had a buddy who was in the throws of heavy meth use that was dealing with this hallucination. He'd always talk about it for a few months. Hes clean now and pulled his life together. Shits crazy. Theres a famous horror movie from quite a few years back called BUG that deals with this delusional parasitosis as well.

I had the sensation of bugs crawling under my skin when my liver wa inflamed, I couldn't sleep because it was so bad. I stopped drinking and I stopped taking medications like the ADHD meds I was prescribed and it went away. It came back almost instantly when I took meds again. Stopped and it stopped, Willing to bet a lot of people who experience this have a liver that's struggling, seems to be common with addiction right?

I would imagine those with this neurotic disorder also have other conspiracy notions that shape their perceptions of life as well. We all have our own scope of what we believe to be real and not real by what it is we are around or associating with. It is human nature to understand our world by the limited environments we choose to experience or had believed were the only experiences we could have. With the introduction of the internet, there is now more information, true and false alike, that travel at the speed of waves to our devices. Radio did this, television did this, but now the internet is giving everyone an overload of information to such an extent that there are many who cannot discern what is real information vs entertainment or delusions. Have this plus drugs plus others who delve into theories or otherwise of certain values? This is what may end up happening. There is many things ‘bugging’ us, but it’s not the government’s fault. It’s our own dang minds, environmental stimuli and choice of recognition. Behold, we are all mad here.

My Mother is 67, and She has believed she has bugs for about 3 years now. She takes hour long showers, and bleaches stuff in her house over and over. My mom was always very smart and independent. It breaks my heart to know my Mom is gonna spend her last days on earth miserable thinking she has bugs. I even bought a microscope so i can show her that her " bugs" are nothing more than dirt or scabs or just trash in general. That did not work though. I dont know what to do, She even has panic attacks because of it. It breaks my heart, i love my Mother so much, but it does not seem like this is going away.
