I spent some time in this video discussing the amount of mental effort that goes into different approaches, but I didn't really address skip strategies (such as this map's flier-skip), so I want to do that here. I'm aware of them, of course, and I would agree that they are the simplest way to handle any given battle. The catch is that you're forgoing most of the experience and support points you might otherwise get. That's perfectly fine, but it does mean you'll have to be more precise with your roster management, and the range of strategies that you may be able to use in the future will be narrower.

@@prestononuselogu9973 you typically only need to forge iron and bronze weapons. Everything else except some steel weapons are too expensive. Arthur has good growths and good classes. Not sure why he’s underperforming for you Edit: Can be helpful to forge slayer weapons too

That bit about cognitive load really stands out to me. Fates already throws a lot your way with what's on screen, between combat calculations, skills, debuffs, and attack/guard stance. Planning out support webs, tracking exp and wexp gains, and pursuing long-term class paths is another few levels of thought. You definitely reap the rewards for doing a Big Thonk and taking it all into account, but man if it isn't easier to just juggernaut with Xander and Corrin until Inevitable End rips that option out from under you. Or, more accurately, from me. I think one of the reasons people like me enjoy your content is that we get to see those rewards without having to brain blast from the avatar creation screen. I've re-evaluated my opinion of Conquest more favorably since coming upon your channel, but it's still hard to work up the motivation to apply all this cool stuff because I know it will require significant cognitive output that isn't immediately rewarded by flashing pixels and cool sounds. All this to say, well done! Yours is a special breed of game mastery and thoughtful presentation, and I truly hope your content takes off well beyond its current success.

The way I see it, there are two levels you can do the work on. One way is to puzzle out tricky things on the tactical layer, in which case you have to adapt to all the different effects (stat drops, hexing rods, lunge chains, dual strikes, etc.); I’m good enough to do that, but it’s genuinely difficult. So that’s why I prefer (and advocate for) working on the strategic layer, setting up interesting builds that are designed to anticipate and negate a lot of those tactical complexities. Like in the ninja cave or Ryoma's map: I don’t want to keep track of all those debuffs and poison effects and everything, so I’d much rather come in with a unit or two who's built to mow everything down. However, I do also think it's worth learning a few of the tactical tricks, because so many of the scary CQ formations crumble to attack stance and strong player phase offense.

My first reaction to seeing this map on lunatic was “how can I not play this,” and I ended up undeploying everyone besides ninja Silas so he could carry Corrin to the goal. Thank you for making this video, I enjoyed seeing someone actually deal with the problems this map presents instead of throwing away all of the potential exp and support points for the sake of an easy clear.

These videos are probably the best videos I've seen on KZfaq about Conquest. I just love the thought that is put into all of these. Thanks for making my day (again)! You speak about cognitive load and I couldn't agree more. I absolutely love Conquest. Dare say it's my favorite (although I love the GBA's era of graphics as well), but honestly, with how much goes on in these chapters, I tend not to play too many chapters in a row because I'm just thinking about how I can tackle the chapter and that sometimes takes a while. It's usually the first few turns that I try to plan out, but afterwards, I just roll with it haha. It can be exhausting at times, yet so rewarding if you clear a hard chapter and do all the things you plan out to do. I should definitely try out those mods though, they look super clean. I like to play on my 3DS when playing, but when I tried recording a chapter, the video and audio was so clunky. Streaming by wifi just isn't the best method for it. I did incidentally happen to record this exact chapter though (if people are interested, I never published the video because of quality, but here it is: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r7Nnecug0tStlps.html). If I ever feel like recording again, I'll probably do it on the computer. I have so many playthrough ideas, it's not even funny. Keep rolling out these bombing videos! The singing was nice too. :)

Have you ever thought about making a series where you play a run of Lunatic Conquest live? Either on Twitch or KZfaq. You could show your thought process going from the pre-run planning to the actual in-game planning and, well, gameplay. I’m sure a lot of people would appreciate it, and you could even add some sort of audience interaction like suggesting builds or characters to use.

Honestly on this map I always just deployed Xander alone, loaded him up with tonics, slapped Corrin behind him, and ran his ass to the ending as fast as possible. Doubling the Faceless isn't too hard for him to reach, if you give him both Speedwings, plus he's bulky and strong enough to just mow them down without too much trouble.

Wow didn’t realize you can safely get experience in this chapter. I’m not an LTCer but I always flight skip this chapter because I feel like I don’t have the bulk to take on the Stoneborn. I don’t flight skip because I want to, I flight skip because I have to. But your use of malig knights and lightning make want to replay while actually using non-Leo magic units.

Great video! It's nice seeing these maps so thoroughly demolished. So I'm curious: Why is Silas a Falcon Knight? Is it solely for flight on this map, or does he especially need Rally Speed/Warding Blow?

How do you use the custom Malig Knight Tome animations that you used in this video? Also, a question that I've wondered about for a while is: If a unit kills an enemy with a dual strike, which unit gets credit for the kill as far as Statue Counts are considered? The lead unit, or the dual striker?

The singing was a real Laugh Out Loud moment. How difficult is it to push Camilla to A-rank in axes by chapter 21? I know you've shown using Attack Stance as a great way to increase Weapon rank. It still seems like it would be a strict threshold to reach that early in the game.

There are a lot of different setups you can use, particularly in 10-14, where Camilla can provide a ton of dual strikes. When she's doing that, you can often choose either axes or tomes to train. If you focus on the former, then from there it's just a matter of continued use in 16-20 to get to A. There is also the option to use an Arms Scroll to reach A.

Quick question: I noticed that you advocated for early promoting Selena to help with ch10. How do I make her viable past that? It just seems like the enemies in chapter 12 far outclass her, and she barely 4 hits them with a bow

If I've insta-promoted Selena, I'd try to make sure I'm using her in favorable combat matchups: against ninjas in 12, wyverns in 13, pegs in 14, etc. A modest forge on a Bronze or Iron Bow and a Strength tonic can go a long way. FYI, the Selena in this video was not insta-promoted. She stayed as a Mercenary until level 16, used a Friendship Seal to become a Wyvern Rider, gained one more level (to get Str +2 faster), and then promoted to Wyvern Lord at level 17.

Zoran Thanks for the help. One more thing: I’ve been doing a Conquest Lunatic Ironman recently, and I’m just getting destroyed by chapters 11-15. Do you have any general tips to help the mid game go by smoother? It really seems like Odin, MC, Camilla, and Arthur are the only combat units I can rely on

@@heroicvileplume7184 if it’s your first playthrough, take chapter 11 slow. Freeze makes the central room with the samurai a little easier Chapter 12 is mainly a gimmick map. I recommend looking up a map of the pot effects, it makes it much more bearable Chapter 13 is a rough one. Odin helps a lot with the Takumi side. Use attack stance a lot to take out each squad ASAP before they can overwhelm you Chapter 14 is mostly pretty easy IMO, just be careful and check ranges. Camilla can ferry Odin north to deal with the priestess and axe fighters. Chapter 15 is a lot easier if you’ve reclassed Corrin a few times. Something like wyvern rider after running through cavalier makes it a lot easier to run through the enemies

Are you emulating this on citra, I assume so as one of your mods mentions that. The unit select voice mod, which when I first heard it just assumed it was part of the base game because nostalgia goggles, makes me want to play with said mods and I don't know how to start.

Do you have to use DLC at all in order to promote a majority o f your units like this, or do you have to plan out when you get the seals and who to use them on? And what about weapons and proficiency?

I always plan the seals to some extent, but I never use the DLC. Weapon proficiency is something that many characters can train up at a reasonable pace, especially if you use dual strikes a lot; you can also save the chapter 13 Arms Scroll if you want to make sure you’ll have someone prepared to use a brave weapon

this map is dumb imo. If they made the stoneborn a little weaker it would be pretty fun but you need some huge balls of stats to defeat them consistently. I sent in my two most effective slayers and was just barely able to kill about two stoneborn on each turn I could buff my guys. Also my unit management wasn't good enough to have people with a ranks to use brave weapons, oops

Wyvern Lord Xander with a defensive pair up and some boosts (Defender, Tonics, etc), usuallly has enough defense to take 0 dame from the Stonebors, wich makes him a pretty good unit to send ahead and scout kill as many enemies as possible.

If you don’t have wyvern Elise with c tomes, it’s pretty doable to run Odin or opelia through wyvern rider to be a lightning malig knight. Malig Odin definitely saved my ass my last run. You also get a lot of blessed weapons to use, and you can use attack stance to spread that effective damage around.
